We explore wonderful bike trails across the US, and occasionally even some trails outside of the US. We will get back to nature, explore historical sights, share information about food, drinks and other amenities on each trail. We will also demonstrate that it's easier than ever to get out and ride no matter what your age or ability level.

If you're like us, you have to spend a lot of time researching to find out what a trail is like. Well, not anymore! We'll ride any trail -- the good, the bad, and the ugly -- so you can decide if it's for you.

Love your videos, especially about the trails in southern part of our state. Super excited to see a video about my home town and place of employment! You did a good job presenting South Bend. I live about 2 miles from Notre Dame and bike most days to work on that trail, but I live north of ND and there is another part that runs all the way to Niles, Michigan. Adds about 9 more miles to the trail. That part downtown along the east race is a bit tricky, but once you know, you don't ever cross a road or go down that narrow part. Couple of points of interest, right past the red bridge (IUSB) was our farmer's market, established in 1924. Also downtown, where they show the river lights, is Seitz Park. It is just about to be open, it has been under construction for a months. The university added electric generators, powered by the river that provide about 7% of the campus power. Also, as I type this a new dedicated bike trail just opened that runs directly from campus to downtown. It connects to our first ever two laned protected bike trail that runs along LaSalle Avenue. I could go on and on. Lastly, the university is a bit smaller, with just over 8000 undergrads, another few thousand in the grad and law school.

Thanks for taking the time to provide so much great information! We ended up in South Bend by chance, as it wasn’t part of our plan when we set off. We are glad we did because we were so impressed with every where we went. We had hoped we would have had more time to ride the extra 9 miles you mention, but that wasn’t in the cards :( We have two more IN trails coming up: The Pumpkinvine and the Nickle Plate. Thanks for your support of our channel.

Not a ride/trail question. Do you get your logo merch from a local shop or online company? My husband and I are looking to do something with a group name we’ve created.
@Adventuresonebikes

Hi. I am using Printify for logo merch. No inventory to carry as each order is processed when paid for. I don't have to pay for the storefront either. I do order a sample before I put anything up in the store (which you would need to pay for) just to make sure the quality is there. But you can see in our videos that we wear the merch when we ride. Printify has been easy and stress free for us. Thanks for watching.

The rules are changing all the time, but in a quick search I just did I believe that they only allow Class 1 ebikes on the trail and just recently banned Class 3. I don’t know what an electric Harley is (but am thinking it’s an electric motorcycle that probably goes more than 20 MPH???) I believe the current rule is that if you don’t peddle it, with the exception of mobility scooters, you can’t ride it on this trail.

There is one correction that should be incorporated into the commentary: Freight rail traffic has NOT declined in America. In fact it has grown. What in fact happened was that over the last half century, many small railroad companies merged into larger companies, which merged into still larger companies, which ended up being merged into a handful of giant conglomerates. As a result, rail lines like the one in this video became redundant and were abandoned. Which is how this rail bed became available for recreational reuse. When the railroad crossed the lake, there was a moveable bridge [a "drawbridge' in layman's language] which permitted marine traffic to pass from one side of the causeway to the other. The short ferry ride closes the gap in the causeway which has existed since the bridge was removed.

Well done ma'am. 4K quality video, excellent camera angle and audio quality, good highlights and commentary. Interesting format, pleasant background music. Good speed transitions and camera position changes. Good editing and voice over. I live in Carmel and ride my etrike on the Monon weekly. Have actually gone end to end full length twice. Have a couple of questions. What video and audio equipment are you using and what editing app or software do you use? I'm starting a youtube channel soon and this video was an inspiration to me. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Keep up the good work.

Thank you so much for your kind comments. We loved Carmel and wished we had more time to spend on our way through. Such a well-planned area! We use GoPros primarily for recording. For production I use a program called Camtasia and record audio using a Blue Yeti desktop mic. My only suggestion for you in starting a RU-vid channel is do what makes you happy and don't stress about the fact that it may take you a couple of years to meet the criteria for monetization. BTW: You have to have a pretty big channel to make a living at this! We make enough money to buy a new camera every year and pay for the things I need for video production!! But we never started this to make money. We are doing this because it helps us stay active and doing things and going places we would have never thought of. It helps keep us motivated when great people like you appreciate our channel.

Hi Sharon -- Well.... short story before I answer. We didn't intend to ride this trail at this time. We were headed toward Dayton, Ohio to spend a week riding trails in that area; then up to Wakarusa, IN to get the RV serviced at the Thor service center. The weather didn't cooperate, and we didn't want to sit in our RV in the rain, or drive back home just to drive back again to get to the RV service appointment, so we spent 4 nights at our first stop -- the KOA Holiday in Erie, PA! From there we drove the 45 minutes down to the trail. I'm sure there are places closer to stay if you wanted to ride this trail and the Allegheny River Trail.

It's definitely a challenge catching the rhododendrons in bloom! This is my second season working on the trains that run through Lehigh Gorge, and I have yet to catch them in full bloom, just the occasional one or two like you did. I also bike that trail often, and have an unfortunate update to share with you. The beautiful new parking area at White Haven (which just opened about a year and a half ago) is now closed for approximate 4 years. They're going to be replacing the I-80 overpasses and already have all the construction equipment staged in the parking area below. The good news is the overflow parking lot on the west side of the trail (accessible from Route 940) will remain open throughout construction, as will the parking at the trailhead north of there in White Haven itself. The trail will remain mostly open, especially during the day on weekends, though it sounds like weekday closures will be common. I believe the restrooms will remain open as well. If you plan future trips here, I'd recommend keeping an eye on the D&L Trail's website for up-to-date information. Also, our railroad has said that our monthly Bike Trains will still run as the state has promised to keep the trail open on those weekends. Hopefully this won't deter you from coming back again. The Rockport parking area is always a good alternative as well. And I wish you the best of luck in catching those elusive rhododendron blooms!
