FYI - NixOS / Nix package manager is awesome. There are high salaried job posting for experience with Nix. Most useful in Operations / DevOps / Developers. It can install NixOS as a Linux server. It can create containers in Docker / Kubernetes. Nix solves a lot of IT problems in regards to reproducibility. You declare what you want and Nix makes it happen. It's a bit like Terraform in that regard. Dev environments can be temporarily setup to meet dependencies and the environment is destroyed when you exit a devshell. You can drop a config into a project repo and when someone clones it (they have Nix installed) it will execute the package installations. Through the magic of direnv when you enter the project dir the environment is rebuilt. This lets you run older software and it's dependencies without messing up your latest dev environment. Nix runs on Windows WSL2, macOS, & Linux. NixOS is their Linux distribution. nixos.org
hey gonna be honest, I know absolutely nothing about what this video is about. But assuming i wanted to look more into the idea of using linux for this type of stuff, where on your channel would I begin? i love finding hidden gems like these and try to utilize the resources i find so this seems huge
@do1609 I've got a Playlist called "Linux beginners start here" which is over free labs you can get into on killercoda. That is very hands on. We have a Discord you can hang in to see how administrators and engineers talk and what we think are interesting about our technology spaces.
I missed the live first because the class took place 3am at my place and second because I knew you will record the class again. :) . Can't thank you enough for this

Hey, you're a real legend! If we're thinking of putting all the videos on RU-vid, could we create a separate playlist for the course? We could keep using the same prefix, like Unit 1, Unit 2, so anyone who visits the channel knows exactly what to watch and in which order. Just a thought from a passionate learner. Much love and support!
