It would make sense that Max saved Furiosa because she was so confused after waking up in the maggot farmer's cave. I actually wrote some fan fiction about what The Wasteland might be about and this scenario became part of my story, I'll be publishing a video about that next week and hopefully it will get more views than usual, I think it's a solid theory but I'm sure the masses will correct me if I'm wrong lol.
What about Praetorian Jack telling Furiosa there's nowhere else to go except the Citadell, Gastown and Bullet Farm because there's nothing more in the Wasteland? His words indicate that Bartertown doesn't exist around that time - potentially doesn't exist anymore.
@@karolinaknyziak7902 either that, or he didn't even find it yet. We know from the comics that Max found the Gastown after escaping Bartertown, but we don't know how long it took him to find it. Green place was not that far from the Citadel either, and Praetorian Jack never found it
Rewatching their "first meeting" in Fury Road (right before the epic fistfight), I noticed that Max kind of stared at Furiosa for a bit when she turned fully to face him. So, I now headcanon that Max did remember her (though she would not have remembered him) and was then faced with the dilemma of having to threaten, fight, and maybe even kill someone he once saved. And then he just chose to keep quiet about it for the rest of the movie because a.) it would be awkward to bring up and b.) he's trying really hard to keep himself from forming new attachments.
I like the idea of a Max trading for maggots. Everything has a purpose in the wasteland. Blood bags are a thing. Maggot farming is likely a thing. I can totally see Max making the trade, fresh flesh for the farm. It might even be a part of Immortan Joe's Citadel, I mean, why else would "the wretched" be allowed to just be out there gathering at the base? Another layer of the wasteland that is there but we were too busy paying attention to the war rig, the fortresses, etc.?
Good point. As fans, we didn’t pay much attention to these people, but Immortan Joe definitely has a purpose for them-future War Boys, potential breeders, and workers.
It's a shame this movie got so much hate, labelled as feminist woke shit, people complaining about cgi, considered a financial failure and mistakenly thinking this movie makes the game canon
Well, people that use the term, "feminist woke shit," have allowed other people to manipulate them, they don't think for themselves because they're weak. They really are. It's like the Bud Light thing....., there was an old lady buying some beer and as she's buying it next to me she says something like, "oh, I know I'm not supposed to be buying this." Little does she know she was corporate brainwashed into drinking it and now her propaganda machine tells her she shouldn't be.
The hate was deserved. I will re-watch but I struggle with Hemsworth's portrayal of Dimentus. He's too comical to take seriously, especially that torture scene.
Yeah, I remember that set of scenes and it really didn't make much sense. But the movie was so good and exciting that it was easy to forget about that question.

This makes total sense, but I think it was intentionally left open to interpretation - for good reason, because I think it's silly. Having characters that meet later also meet in prequels makes the universe the story takes place in feel very small, and removes some of the impact of the characters' initial meetings. Star Wars is a good example of this. In the original trilogy we're meeting all these characters for the first time, so the universe feels fresh and huge. But then in the prequels, we learn that Greedo used to bully Darth Vader as a child, and C3PO was BUILT by Darth Vader, and that the backwater middle of nowhere planet Obi-Wan and the Larses hide Luke on is actually the same one Vader grew up on. I am hoping that Furiosa continues to be successful on home video as Fury Road was, that we get The Wasteland as a result of that, and that The Wasteland makes in canon that Max did NOT save Furiosa
Good theory, I too, watching the film, immediately thought it was Max who saved Furiosa. You can immediately see that the Interceptor is in better condition than when it appears in Fury Road,in fact it has its iconic nosecone. Surely here Max has not yet become the feral Max of Fury Road, who barely speaks because of loneliness, and is more inclined to help and relate to people. What a film...I'm glad I went to see it (3 times!) and I hope Miller can finish with The Wasteland. Keep up the good work!
@@Mad_Max_World Buying the DVD's would help, too, I bought the High Octane collection and Furiosa over the summer to show my support lol. Plus I'm dying to see the director's cut of Fury Road.
wee need at least a trilogy for Mad max and I'm very excited for THE WASTELAND. Also, hope they can still cast Tom Hardy because he fits and deserved to be Max, a man of few words!
Dont forget this: Hope and Glory, were with Dementus, after he died they were enslaved in gas town by Scrotus, then Max save them unfortunately for a bunch of days

The Mad Max 'franchise' is an absolute debacle. There are only two good MM movies - the first two! Everything else is complete and utter garbage. Here is the real timeline. A fews years after 1979 the world starts to break down. Shortly after that oil giants go to war. About 5 years after that we find Max in MM2. Everything after that is irrelevant.
I like the idea that beyond thunderdome is the end. Not that I have any reason or lore to say that. I just enjoy the end of that movie and like to think thats it.
OK hear me out... Is there someway to bring Mel Gibson back as an Old Max but still have Hardy as the younger Max... where all along they've been two separate people with different backgrounds (yes, two people called Max on Earth... crazy I know!) Maybe Old Max has turned into the very thing he's been fighting for years... corrupt, twisted, has his own gang etc. Hell, even gives himself a title like "Maximus Thunder" or some other apocalyptic title to go with his evolved sick lifestyle. BUT comes back around in some redemption arc by teaming with Hardy against a common foe. Would be a GREAT send off too if Old Max goes out in a blaze of glory.
@@SaiyanScholar the problem is: Tom Hardy's Max introduced himself in the intro of Fury Road: "once I was a cop". Even George Miller himself confirmed he is Max Rockatansky. I would love to see Mel Gibson back, but then the story to be few decades after the events of Fury Road - tv show or movie, anything
@@Mad_Max_World Thanks for that info! Yeah same. Maybe they could do a timeskip using Hardy and Gibson in the same movie. First half is Hardy, second Mel. Or even flashbacks and link it all up.
Personally, I like the fan theory that Tom Hardy is actually playing an adult version of Thunderdome's feral kid in Fury Road because this would give the movie a stronger connection to the events of Beyond Thunderdome and it opens up the opportunity for Mel Gibson to make a cameo at some point if WB ever lifts their ban on him.
