Hey fellas, how's it going? Me? I'm just a hard working dude who pays too many bills and has too many hobbies; most notably purchasing new gear, trading, exchanging, selling and collecting even more. I've owned hundreds of guitars, amps and pedals. Now I decided to make a RU-vid channel just for fun and to share some of my knowledge and experiences with you. I'll try to upload as much useful content as I can, but I am in no way or shape, paid to do this, nor do I have the financial means to really invest in it, so I'll do my best with what I got. Thanks for stopping by ladies and gents, rock on and if you like my content please comment, share, like and subscribe! Really helps! \\m/
Does the routing hinder the use of the vibrato bar? Personally, I don't care about things like that. As long as is feels good in my hands and I can play it, that's all I care about.
@@justinfern6326 They actually did offer a replacement and no request of the video being taken down. I actually did a follow up video going over it. I like the brand and overall was impressed with their response. I figured the video still helps point out that 'hey you can get a bad apple but they will own up to it'. I'm hopefull videos like these, while rare, help them and other companies keep eyes on what they can improve upon. Thanks for watching.
This video was very well done... I just got the Super ST in metalic-green and I had to order the mat-black one today also because my wife liked and decided to take the green one! It is really really nice!!! Thanks for these great Firefly reviews... Please keep them coming!
Man you must be very unlucky , coz I have owned a fender strat(USA) 4 Gibson Les Paul’s 1 prs and a couple more . I just received my sire s7 a couple of weeks ago and it is easily the best guitar quality wise out of every guitar I have owned . It’s just beautifully built .
Check out Tease Guitar 🎸 I got a Tease SBH-HD guitar for $250 and I am not a budget guitar guy BUT the customer service got me. I had my guitar for 3 weeks and I'm impressed with the neck, coils and just the quality of the guitar ❗ Tease Guitar
The 70% discount is fake IMO, I wouldn't recommend this to a complete novice, they need guitars that are set up relatively well and with good tuners and level frets.
bolt on is no big deal considering most lawsuit era gibson knockoffs were bolt on LPs. It didn't stop ppl from buying them, and it doesn't stop them from snapping up ibanez lawsuit knock offs with bolt on necks.
@@dekion261 100% agree. Bolt on is simply a different constructiom style. It foes not make a guitar any lesser, despite what some people might believe.
@@JoshuaBaker-eg6sm Who said it was a comparison? Your comment doesn't make sense 🤦♂️. It's just a review of the model with 2 different color examples.
I was a teen in the mid seventies. I would have killed for any guitar with these specs for theses prices . I own several FireFlys and I couldn't be happier . I also own WestCreek and Leo Jaymz and these things are awesome . $200+ dollars for all these features ? Of course if you compare to a 3000.00$+ guitar then there is none to be had . I , like most people , am a working stiff trying to survive life . Just a bedroom player that fantasizes and pretends to be a guitar god when I know that there is no one around to see me or even better 'To hear me' !!! Peace Everybody !!
@@cuz11233 I would say this is much nicer. Better build quality, electronics and from a value proposition; better features. Both guitars look and feel great but I'd say the Shijie is the winner there.
Soft posts and a knife edges on the tremolo body that is poor quality metal is hard to overcome. If a guy adjusts the tremolo height with the strings in tension you can bet the knife edge and the height screws are toasted. Put adjustable trem stops in the cavity and it will think its decked. If you get the height dialed in without scoring or flattening the posts that is the way to get it right.
All of these complaints about factory flaws. Why did you keep it for so long without contact the retailer you bought it from. You say you had it for 2 months. How can we be sure that those flaws weren’t caused by you. Most people don’t wait that long to try and send a $700 guitar back if it isn’t up to standard.
For the same reason it took you 1 year to post your question and mild accusation here. Because I had just found them when I went to use the guitar. When I got it, I went away to Europe for a couple of monts so i did not have a chance to inspect it properly until I got back. Also, pretty clear to me you might not be too familiar with how guitars work but none of the details I pointed out can be 'caused' by me. I can't give it a sloppy routing from using it. I can't unpolish the neck. I can't sprout the frets in a humidity controlled environment, I can't give it finish flaws. Don't get me wrong, it's a fantastic guitar for the money and none of the things I pointed out are significant or affect the way it plays, sounds or works altogeter and all are easileu remediable but I uploaded an informative and unbiased video so people can know what to expect as none lf the other reviewers that got their guitars for free ever made any comments on out of the box condition. But hey there's plenty of 'brand approved' commercials out there!
@@RafsGearReviewswith all due respect, it’s not an accusation. I’m just going by what I saw and what you said. Everything you said in your reply was not explained in the video. As a consumer I look at things from both sides of the spectrum. There are consumers who have gripes but don’t tell the complete story. I rewatched the video and you never said anything about leaving the country. Either way, I would’ve inspected the guitar immediately, but I understand that you probably didn’t expect it to have so many flaws. I also saw your follow up video and I still understand your thoughts and congrats on the replacement.
@@jssneaks771 Sorry I took it that way. I thought I did mention I was away in Europe in the first video but I did it a while ago so I guess not. I was surprised Sire responded the way they did. They make a great product and back ot up and I'm happy to support them.
I was not shocked .. those guitars are moving around the world so some of them can be broke or scratched .. Or sometimes even the manufacturing goes wrong and then a bad guitar slips trough the quality check .. I have this guitar, and i got to say it sounds very good clean and it doesnt go ou of tune and it has good tunerknobs .. And the customer service of SIRE is a good one .. But i had never a problem with the guitar ..
I was actually going put in a custom order with 10s before all there drama started it was basically thier GF Baritone in blue but the week I had all the money for it was the week all their mishandling came to light.
The cracks around the frets would be an issue for me on a guitar, which, as you pointed out, could have been due to the neck being too dried out. The rest seemed cosmetic. I wouldn't care so much on a guitar lower than $1k. If they had to cut corners to keep the price down, I'd rather it be cosmetically imperfect and be otherwise better than other guitars in the price range than to look perfect and have inferior hardware or playability. $1k and up, I would definitely be picky.
Heres my story with 10S I purchased the Buckethead "inspired." Ordered directly from their site to ship to US total was $699 and received it in 4 days. I love it, the quality is far more than I expected. The biggest problem I had, no sound from neck pickup. I contacted them asking for a wiring diagram and they responded with an apology and explained that they do everything by memory. Then offered a discount on another guitar if I'd like to buy one. I ended up figuring it out, the output wire solder broke off, soldered in and done. It's heavy, which I like, pickups sound great, fingerboard probably isn't real ebony, it came with incorrect machine heads, but I still like them. All in all, this would've been a horrible experience for someone unable to correct the mistake. Maybe $100 on top for labor. I still would deem this guitar worthy of that price. I've had it almost a year, and everyone else is blown away by it. I still love it to this day. However, I don't plan on purchasing another guitar from them.
I just bought this guitar for many key reasons: sound of my band, design, reliability of the brand, colour and price... still I wanted to see all of its POTENTIAL. This video was the answer... I'm sooo happy with my choice, thank you mate
@@RafsGearReviews you surely did! I'll do my best to take the magic out from it now that I know the possibilities. Just one last thing (out of topic)... at around 1:18 and then again at 1:23 you do this lovely high-pitch sound distinctive of Rock while still on the upper frets... I know it might be hard to explain so instead may I know how "is it called" so I can get more info on the internet on how to achieve it? I've been looking for it for months
@@enjoeymusic those were pinch harmonics, with your right hand you gently brush the string with skin of your thumb after hitting it with the pick in a sort of outward motion. The sound will vary depending on your picking hand positipn relative to the pickuos so the best thing to do is to experiment and try different spaces.
@@RafsGearReviews "pinch harmonics" then, finally I got a name... and not only but you also were so kind of explaining the process to me in detail... absolutelly clear how it's done! Now I'll practice it. Thank you so much really !!
great honest review. agree that locking tuners should be on at that price point. they are standard of modern imports that cost much less in 2024. but hey, maybe it will be an upgrade for the third gen so they can get people to buy more.
This is an old video from a few years back. The first few had some issues but everyrhing I've gotten in the last 18-24 months from them has been excellsnt!
Cheap trems don't have chromoly knife edges and posts. That's a common problem. They can't just be generic SS, it has to be hardened chromoly. (chromium-molybdenum). If it's not chromoly the edges deform right away. Just because it might say SS doesn't mean anything. SS comes in many varieties, and many hardness levels. A proper Floyd style bridge will tell you what steel is being used.
