This was so great for so many reasons. I love how excited you are about how your projects are coming along. It’s infectious. I found this because I’m contemplating a tweed knit and went searching for some videos. Your tweed blouse is the BEST EVER. I love the fit on you so so much. I really enjoyed your Boston compilation at the end (was that homemade okonomiyaki?!?!) thanks for sharing that as well. I’m a brand new knitter in So Cal so I’ll keep watching to see if you talk about any LA yarn stores in future vlogs. Thanks!!
I love your Vienna cardigan! ❤ Maybe you knitted the icord along the edge a little tighter on the left side than the right side? That would make the left side seem shorter. You can probably pull this side longer when it’s wet.
Ahhhh your vienna blouse looks absolutely stunning!!! I loveeee the icord ties, the peplum and the very subtle marl in the yarns you chose! I can definitely see how it's a labor of love but the piece is amazing and looks great on you!
If you’re in the US there’s motherknitter where you can buy the pattern online I think but you also have to buy some Sandnes garn yarn with the order. I got my booklet from knitt.co but also had to buy 3 skeins of Sandnes garn andddd there was a flat shipping fee :(
Your knits look lovely ! Especially the Vienna cardigan, it is stunning on you. The stitches look so neat 🥰 Too bad the pattern is not widely available…
I would frog it, mainly because i kow that i would end up frogging it later or never wearing and i don't like cutting yarn lots for surgery. I would also try to knot the button band with the rest of the cardigan because i dislike picking up for button bands but yeah. Good luck on your nova sweater. The saskie sweater is also in my queue after i do an easier colourwork one.
i love that sandnes garn sweater, i have that pattern book but i dont think i have it in me. I knit the Amy slipover last year and i think i feel the same about that as you do for that cardigan
ooh I actually want to knit the Amy slipover soon! hopefully before summer! hahah I cast on the blouse with a friend and that was the only reason I was able to start it, otherwise idk how long I would’ve put it off for
I think if the collar of the peacock cardigan is going to bother you, its best to frog it now before you get any further. You don't want to finish it and not wear it because of the collar. I can't wait to see your colorwork sweater!
I’m all here for your red era, these colours are gorgeous !! And congrats on finishing that peplum cardigan, what a journey 😅 i think if i was you I’d probably frog the peacock cardigan - the surgery would be an option, as you said, but if you enjoyed working on the lace motif, I think I’d have more fun reknitting than figuring out surgery on the collar 😅
🐸 the 🦚 ! it’s still going to bother you since it still bothers you after all this time ❤ you’ll be happy you did if it turns out cleaner and closer to what you want
I love your Vienna blouse so much wow! You've inspired me to cast it on. I recently had a cardigan with a similar issue (one side was longer) and I realized I had knit the button band way shorter on one side- my tension got tighter and probably picked up stitches at a different rate too. Maybe that's what happened with your applied i-cord?
Your red sweater is so gorgeous - your knitting is beautiful! I love all your knits and I can see your enthusiasm for what you've been knitting so if that same enthusiasm isn't there for the cream-colored peacock sweater - frog it. In my opinion, there is nothing worse than working for so long on something that you'll feel "meh" about later. Hugs from Texas!
First off, Happy New Year! I love how adventurous you are with your knitting and your plans for this year! You've inspired me to go out and do some sewing and gardening this year so thank you! Can't wait to see your knits and I hope you share your other hobbies with us! Hugs from Texas !
My first sweater was also a two strand mohair project like why? Haha Beautiful projects though, loved listening to your experiences and learnings form this last year of knitting ❤
I always have so many new things I want to learn every year too. Sewing is also on my list. You can totally build a raised bed. I have the paul and cargill sweaters on my list too. Love them.
if you’re into comfy wide leg pants i’d recommend the pomona pants sewing pattern by anna allen! the pants are very simple and you learn how to make a pocket. i’ve made 4 pairs of pants from it
The drawstring top, maybe you don’t have to frog the hole thing if you actually like the top. Maybe pick a column on each side of the front and back and put in a life line. Then cut the seam and redo the mattress seam where your lifeline is for a better fit. I haven’t tried it but in theory I think it could work! 😅 Overall a great year of knits! ❤
Ahhhhh I love your video style!!! I also made my "what I made in 2023" video as short as possible hahaha. Your first every sweater is absolutely stunning!! Fantastic job!!
WOW I’m in love with all the pieces you made especially the ripple halter!!! This project is perfect for souvenir yarn. Cant wait to see everything you make this year ☺️
LOVE this video! I've just gotten into knitting. Is there any chance you could post a video or yt short explaining how you modified the ripple halter pattern? i would love to make a top like it but can't quite find the right pattern and i looove how you've modified yours!
oo maybe! But for now I can try to explain it to you here hehe - pretty much in the Ripple Halter pattern you work it top down, starting in the round with the mock neck 2x2 rib. Eventually there’s a section where you bind off part of the “collar” and start to split for the front and back yoke, and that’s when i modified the pattern. At that point I essentially followed the stitch count for a larger size for the front yoke (I think I went up 2 sizes). From there you work increases as called for in the pattern and I just went until I hit the original size I was going for (so for example if I was going for size 2, I cast on the size 2 stitch count, did ribbing until it’s time to bind off the collar, followed the size 4 front/back yoke split, then did increases until I hit the final stitch count called for in size 2). Sorry about the wall of text but I hope that’s at least somewhat helpful!! I also highly recommend the Jessie made pattern, it’s v well written ☺️
Love, love, love you and your podcast! For being such a new knitter, your sweaters are amazing!! I love you color choices too! Can't wait to see more of your beautiful knits in 2024. Hugs from Texas!!
Okay it took me one month until I finally managed to watch this video but thanks for bringing allll the coziness! I’m so impressed by how strict you are with your yarn ban (and how involved your boyfriend is to holding you to it) , and your garments are all so pretty 😍 hope your gift knitting is going well !
hahah funny you say that because I broke the ban literally today and my boyfriend was standing 3 feet away 😂😂 I actually asked him about the bag he’s holding onto and he COMPLETELY forgot he had it LOLL
Hi! Your pink sweater is gorgeous and looks so pretty on you! I also really love your red sweater - OMG, you've inspired me to get some yarn in that color. I'm also on a yarn diet but I think I'll make one more purchase! LOL. Welcome back to the alcoholic drink too!! Hugs from Texas!!
