Amazing. I just got a leviathan box for my birthday and I'm splitting it with my daughter. Even though the marines are primaris I'm painting them as alpha legion with fluff that they're marines who crossed the Rubicon whilst undercover but they'll be using standard alpha legion rules. I've wanted to do alpha legion for years but I've always ended up doing black legion, death guard or red coursairs because the paint job is so easy whilst the metallics of alpha legion has been intimidating.
@incredibleflameboy Sounds like an awesome idea! I hope you and your daughter have fun and metallic doesn't have to be difficult, just try it and have fun!
If the twelve years olds version of yourself knew what you know now you could have been an 'eavy metal painter, not withstanding the pearl clutchers and their child labour laws!
9:50 Yeah, you're right, it's the flock that makes the basing from back in the day unconvincing. Not the BRIGHT-TO-THE-POINT-OF-LUMINOUSITY YELLOW-GREEN COLOUR NOT FOUND IN NATURE.
@@clanpsi Thanks for the feedback. Maybe I should have gone for other colours? 🤔 or maybe more contrast? I'll consider that for the future, every project is a chance to learn and grow!
@@KabinMiniatures I regret selling my high elves and Imperial Guard armies. Sold them both in 1998-99 when my interests changed in year 12. I bought Orcs and Goblins in 2000 though and I still have them. So I can at least see those paint jobs. Not quite as nostalgic as the first models I was painting in the 95. I’ll kill to get them back.
I see! Sounds like a very cool collection of first models! Glad you have your Orcs and Goblins still though 👍 I know the feeling, I sold some of my Middle Earth collection, Tyranids and some other stuff when I started loosing interest in the hobby, and sometimes I wish I hadn't...
Thank you so muchthese are just quick speed paints, but we're glad you like them! I'm very flattered you want me to paint a set for you! I don't have much experience with commissions, but please feel free to contact me via the email address on our channel page, so we can discuss it further.
@@hussienmohaidly I think you have to use a computer, as the mobile version of RU-vid doesn't seem to feature the email adress. But in the desktop version, go to our channel and the "About" page. Scroll down past our bio and links and you will find a section that says "Show email adress". I hope this helps!
Thank you so much I haven't had the chance to play a proper game, but the rules are pretty cool and based around the same core mechanics as Strontium Dogg, Judge Dredd and Sláine.
If you want to, you can check out this other video we made. At 10.57 there's a tutorial for lightning bolts 👍 ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-2KO9F3Y6_K0.html
I always wanted to try this but seeing how my azog vs thorin is OOP and well over £100 atm on eBay and such I do not want to start carving into mine XD
I totally understand! 😅 the only part I carved into was the inside of the legs, but only a little bit. The rest was all bending the resin into shape with heat. Nonetheless, it was a bit nerve-wracking doing it to such a rare model 😳
No problem, we're glad you liked it! I'm no expert myself, but I think it's fun to try out different techniques. There's definitely nothing wrong with slap chop 👍 just have fun with your hobby!
You can try doing a bit of layering on top of your slapchop to improve the colour gradations. That's what I'm planning to do after watching this video 😊
@@thetabletopskirmisher that's a great idea 👍 the slap chop will provide a rough guide for highlights and shadows that you can improve upon with a bit of layering!
Thank you so much I really want to get back to this series, too. I have plenty of plastic to work with, and hopefully, I'll have the time for more Night Lords soon.
@bigtbigj3103 If you want to start a Heresy era Night Lords collection, that box has great value for sure. I think you should get the models you think look cool and have fun with them! It's your hobby and you choose how to enjoy it!
Also I have a idea what if for the next night lord thing you can make a titan that look like it part of the night lords like it has a bunch of skulls and human body parts maybe it even has a bat mask on it I’m kinda surprised no though about doing that ?

You think under those metal plates above the knee's is not leather instead of metal? thinking to paint them of leather.. makes no sense to be also metal there..i sow gw paint them also metal.
Go for it! You should paint them the way you think looks best 👍 I tried to mimic the look from the film. The practical Orcs had leather "pants" with smaller armour plates attached to the thighs. Some of the CGI Orcs had exposed legs instead of leather pants.
Hmmm, looking a bit closer at the reference pictures I gathered, I think you might be right! Each armour plate on the thighs seems to have a loose piece of leather/fabric underneath. Maybe I should go back and repaint those little bits? 😅
@@KabinMiniatures i also look in every movie frame all of them have either naked legs or a small piece of leather. Yeah i think the top part might be metal but the down one is definitely leather, it didn't make sense of 2 metal rubbing each other on leg. Like romans wear scarfs to protect the neck against the armour. Maybe you can brown those small bits. 😏 i will mine.
@smoothbrush4722 That indeed makes sense! Thanks for letting me know, I really appreciate it! Looking more closely at the sculpt, those small bits underneath are irregular and torn, whereas the metal plates above are more "straight". Now I have to go back and paint those bits brown, or else they will haunt me 😅
Yes, indeed! A filter over the whole thing at the end (quick), or just glazing each colour on more gradually (slow), would likely have made the transitions more smooth 👍
@@KabinMiniatures Thank you very much for the swift reply! As someone who has just ordered Slaine Kiss My Axe, your video will prove to be extremely helpful!
@squallgoku777 No problem! 😊 The Sláine miniatures are awesome, and I bet you'll have fun painting them. We have a video about painting the Skull Swords and I hope to male more Sláine videos in the future.
Hi, @owenlinford. Thanks for the lovely comment. 🥰 Sorry, but I'm really bad at explaining the technical stuff, but I'll try my best here. I started off with testing out different ratios of blue and yellow slime to get to a workable consistency of green stuff. I then worked with one small patch at a time, applying a thin layer of green stuff on the area of the figure I wanted to sculpt on. Then I quickly shaped some more of the green stuff to bulbs and spaghetti shaped ones and just tried to put them together into a somewhat organic looking cluster with the help of the tiniest ball tool I can find. I'm so sorry, kinda feels like I'm writing you up a pasta recipe rather than sculpting instructions. 😂🍝 Really excited to see what you come up with though. 💜🤗
@@Kalaatthekabin thank you, that's really helpful. Did you find it helpful to have a lot of blue in your mix? It's going to take me an age but I'm motivated!
I did this a few years ago, but from what I remember, the cleaning wasn't too bad. Assembly took a little time, as each joint in the legs is posable. I ended up drilling all of these and inserting brass rods through them. Then, I could move the legs about like a puppet until I found a good pose and glued each joint in place. So yeah, that took some time, but it's certainly not necessary to do that kind of thing.
Once again. The Word Bearers Legion is grey and gold. The red and silver is reserved for the Gal'Vorbak. Which after the Drop Site Massacre there were only 5 left alive and are considered the original possesed
Aw man I'm really hoping to get some of the late pledges from this Warzone re-hash. Warzone was my intro to mini-wargaming back in high school and I'm stoked, I think we are ready for a revival! This was a great paint job, by the way, love how it turned out.
Cool, it's always nice to talk to old school Warzone players! And thanks, I'm glad you liked the paintjob 😁 I collected Doomtrooper in the 90's and got into Warzone around 13 years ago. If you're interested in a late pledge, you should check it out quickly because the pre-order on Backerkit closes on April 7th: warzone-eternal-0.backerkit.com/hosted_preorders
@@KabinMiniatures thank you! I've the book for Part Two in my collection and wondered why I missed the images of the Sardaukar. I think I've to get on too ^^
Most of the paints I used are from the Citadel brand, made by Games Workshop. You can buy them from their website warhammer.com, but you can also look for independent stockists in your region that carry Warhammer products, since these often offer a discount 👍
@@KabinMiniatures You're welcome man!! Also if possible, I'd totally like to see a tutorial on how to paint Flood-infected flesh, also there's a new Halo miniature wargame coming soon called Halo Flashpoint
Yes, I dilute the varnish with water, but I don't measure it exactly... My estimate would be maybe a 1:1 mix? I put a little water in a cup and add varnish drop by drop until it has become a "milky" consistency.
