What the heck does your solo2 display while you are riding? It definitely isn’t the current laptime. But it seems to randomly jump around and I can’t tell what it is showing… just curious. Red and greenlights are the only thing I have any attention for when I ride.
I was very impressed that Zack is this fast with such limited experience and even more so when I saw his knee puck. I thought for sure he was knee down. Not the case. Great job by you both for turning sure large bikes quickly. No tardiness at turn in getting to max lean. Great stuff.
So, a stuck float valve, eh? I wonder if a smartcarb has one. I have had brand new carbs with one day on them do that. If I do buy a smartcarb for $$$ a sticky float valve would smash my optimism.
Yeah that engine sounded unhappy guessing the airfilter was wet? Not running one? Where did the bike work best and where was it the biggest struggle in the rain?
Nice. You would benefit from some earlier turn-ins to widen the corner a little bit more. You're not using all the track you could to keep that speed up which is so critical on the little bike! I noticed it mostly on T10, T6 (go over those rumbles don't be scurred!) and some on T1. Are you used to a faster bike? Looks more point shoot than you should. And then your transitions going into T4 (carousel) and 13 (long sweeper) you could get over that first apex a bit harder so you could get back to WOT sooner. You were doing some pretty tight lines through there but its all about keeping up that speed on the little bikes!
Wow your lines through one and 7-10 are way different than what one of the instructors showed me last July. Gonna have to memorize this and try it the next time I'm there. Thanks for sharing!
You have my consent to stuff me at the top of the hill in 13. But you won’t find the door that wide open next time. So you’ll need to get it done at turn 1 or 4. I hated those corners on this bike. I look forward to the next visit already!
According to the official trackmap this is turn 10. Just fyi for anyone looking this up on a trackmap. I digress.. Glad Ioben didn’t get this treatment back at T6. Walls are less forgiving.
I definitely can’t get my “little” sv650 big bike off a track the way you did with this mini. Another reason minibikes are now the main course in my trackriding diet.
Abe had a similiarproblem on his Kayo when a caliper bolt (the upper one) came loose. Turned the front caliper into a drum brake with the caliper wedging itself against the wheel itself. I can’t recall what we found in this case. But when i looked at the front wheel last weekend, i see a gouge all the way around the wheel on the brake side. Very reminicent. I know after nis issue we replaced a bunch of the front brake parts (the master cyl). Ultimately got is workng. In retrospect i don’t recall if replacing the caliper bolts with safetywire drilled bolts may have corrected a loose caliper.. Now that I own this bike and have closer eyes on it, I am trying to reconstruct the history.
And you accomplished the tank leak test. We have the answer. All in all minor issues for a used track bike. I am looking forward to my first stint in the seat!
So where is the fast lap? The solo2 was red the entire time. My other question is, how do you have the LED setup? I have mine set to 1 light per .1 sec. but you could set it for 3sec per LED if you want. I also note you only downshift once throught the s turns before the straight and you tend to exit the last rt turn at about 9k. I downshift 2x and exit at 11k and shift at that point (usually) if I have the proper discipline. I’m comparing since we were discussing gearing differences between our bikes. Also seems like when you upshift the rpm jumps up. I noticed it when I rode your bike. I also say it in the video when Garrett rode yours as well. Just noting differences in your engine. Yours has always felt faster to me but ai think thenonly thing non stock is the pipe.
Fast lap was between :32 and 1:46. Sorry I did not specify. This was not the fastest lap of the session. Just the fastest lap I had recorded for the day. My red lights I believe are set to .1tenths
Was your knee down? Just asking since we can only see the forward view. Your body movements innthe center of the 8 would be interesting to study. Also you could use the laptimer to record the “course” and see how consitantly you perform the drill
