Not really. The engine does spin and create a small thrust via a source of energy (compressed air). It’s not meant to power an aircraft of course but its parts are functioning and no different from a real dual concentric turbofan jet engine in plastic form (well, no fuel dump/combustion obviously but that’s why the energy source is compressed air instead)

You should talk to SpaceX. They have a 3-D printer that prints metal and could probably make a real termination for you.

Freeman Gentlefuck the professor worked at the company for a long time. I’m guessing he had drawn them up in the first place for the company so either recreated or somehow had access (uva being a Virginia public university, sometimes the engineering department gets research contracts that come with educational resources like this).

Next step, alloy 3D printing and using Jet A... it's been 7 years since the first PLA 3D printers have been available. Now you can 3D print using Titanium filament and some other 'interesting' alloys.

Google states that a 747 carries 150 000ltrs of fuel, how is that possible considering the size , passengers and luggage capacity!! All lies, jet engines run on free air and only need a small amount of fuel for take off and landings!

Smart man. Gas turbines are just air powered turbines. Free energy has been around for decades.

You blew compressed air over fan blades to make a toy jet engine spin. Its not rocket science.
@jfan4reva
@jfan4reva 7 лет назад
Nope! It's not rocket science, it's turbo jet engine science. Q: when they blew the compressed air into the combustion chamber, why didn't it blow out the front of the engine also, making the compressor blades either turn the engine backwards, or balance the force generated by the turbine and keep it from turning? (Note that the compressed air manifold doesn't point towards the back of the engine.) A: the air took the path of least resistance, which is out through the turbine, rather than through the maze of compressor rotor and stator blades, which allowed the turbine to turn the engine in the right direction, which allowed the compressor to push air into the combustion chamber, which provided more air to spin the turbine, which spun the compressor faster, which provided more air to spin the turbine, etc, etc, until bearing friction and turbine efficiency prevented any higher speed. Actual jet engines substitute burning air/fuel mixture for compressed air, but basically work the same way. There's a lot more going on inside there than just blowing compressed air over fan blades. For everything you ever wanted to know about the subject, and more, search for 'agentjayz' on you tube.

As you said When the compressed air entered the combustion chamber it took the path of least resistance and exhausted through the predicted path. You simply raised the atmospheric pressure (ATM) in the combustion chamber above 1 atmosphere. In order to balance the ATM, the excess pressure took the path of least resistance over the high and low pressure turbines and due to their physical size, would be easier to rotate then the compressor. As air V increases on exhaust this would create a low pressure post compressor wouldn't it? Higher pressure now exists on the fan. The higher pressure air passes through the fan toward the combustion chamber in an attempt to equalize pressure with in the engine. This air flow turns the fan on its path to the low pressure area which is kept constantly low due to the flow of the compressed air and it's direction is governed buy the pitch of the turbine vanes. Bernoulli's Principle (Venturi Effect) Alternately, you simply maintained a constant high pressure in the combustion chamber simulating combustion. Given that 1 ATM = 14.7psi and assuming a conservative 40psi from the compressor, (you dont want to wreck your model do you) The ATM in the combustion chamber would be approx 2.72 ATM. You test this by simply measuring the ATM in the combustion chamber. If the ATM increases with RPM then it would be safe to assume the compressor is contributing. If the ATM <=1 Then the former. Be it primary or secondary, direct or indirect, you are still directing air over fan blades for to induce rotation. FYI the " It's not rocket science" comment was in jest. I though maybe you would see the implied irony in the statement. Additional. Top job on the Model (toy) ;)
