Interesting historical note: Not sure if still occurring today, but for at least 6 decades following the 1934 demise of B&C, many a Texas Lawman have made an after dark stop by the Western Heights Cemetery on Ft Worth Ave @ Navarro St in West Dallas to p!$$ on Clyde Barrow’s grave. Allegedly one such stop occurred in 1992 following a few Shiner Boch drafts at the old DPA club in downtown Dallas.

Clyde played any instrument he could get his hands on. He really loved the sax though, so that's why he was a known sax player. He played guitar, ukulele, flute, piano. Bonnie also played piano and sang.

There was never a civil rights movement here in Dallas the big glass church downtown paid off or told the black pastor of Dallas that they will take care of them if they stop the civil rights movement from coming here

There was never a civil rights movement in Dallas Texas because the big glass church that’s downtown Dallas paid off pastors for the movement not to come here.

No, Howard was not the first writer in that part of Texas and no, his stories have no literary merit.

Nobody cares about the first writer from Texas thing, believe me. And what makes you say his stories have no literary merit?
@ericadler9680
@ericadler9680 5 месяцев назад
@@miltcoon5515 Well, Howard himself did. And his stories are superficial, hastily written, with no attempt whatsoever at deepening the characters or at beautiful description. The philosophy too is extremely thin. Reading Howard is a complete waste of time.
@miltcoon5515
@miltcoon5515 5 месяцев назад
@@ericadler9680 You express yourself very poorly for someone criticizing a prolific, respected and popular writer, albeit one whose fame and renown mostly came posthumously. Perhaps you fail to understand the nuance, subtlety and power of Howard's prose because you fail to understand the language of English. This assertion is evident within your response to me. Here are some excerpts from what you just wrote: "Or at beautiful description" and "The philosophy too is extremely thin". These nonsensical snippets indicate you have no business opining on an artist who you don't have the basic capacity to understand. Also, are you a Nazi? On your RU-vid page you were holding a book up with a swastika. I really hope not because I hate Nazis. So did my dad who was over there killing lots and lots of Nazis 70 years ago. My grandad too, who killed so many Germans in WWI they gave him a bunch of medals!

Howard’s writing has the same grain as the post oaks of his native country-side. You can bet on its resiliency and strength, just as you can with the wood of those trees.

Thanks for supporting this authors work DHS, I enjoyed this presentation immensely. As a lifelong Dallas resident, I've heard of Bonnie & Clyde's connection(s) to Dallas for years through old newspapers but never saw the pathways, roads, and connections to the areas (Lancaster, Irving, West Dallas, etc.) as they are today. Very informative and interesting.

Wonderful to know that there are people in the world that understand that it doesn’t matter what color your eyes are or if your anatomy… you are a human being with a soul that does not believe it’s superior than to one with one different than yours. Don’t fear what is different than from yourself. That is your problem. Don’t condemn others for your own ignorant, concern.
