Love most of downeys football games. I try to do a rotation of football games when I do a season reply. But you're right, the lack of seasons leaves something to be desired, but I believe he's working on it.
Great video as usual. The bottom of the 5th presents one of those decisions that complicate c&d baseball. You know and I know you need to pinch hit for the pitcher because of those 9 fatigue points. But Al Dark doesn’t know from fatigue points, so I suspect that IRL there’s no pinch hitter. That said, I would have done what you did. It’s just an interesting conundrum.
@@MaxCandD Yes, I do. You have to be Max, the Commissioner, and, in this case, Al Dark (no, I didn’t know - I looked it up), the manager. I said I would have pinch hit, but that’s only because I understand (I don’t have strat) that the basic game doesn’t allow a pitcher to continue when fatigued. I play cross years as well and use a different fatigue system geared to my game engine (pocket pennant run). But no matter what, you still get the “I know you’re tired, but your manager may not.” It’s interesting.
Thanks for doing this video. The only correction I would make is when there is a turnover. You look at the offense card after a turnover and defense or momentum does not apply to this.
Hi robert.... I think you may have made a mistake In the top half of the fourth inning.... The giants had a man on third Who Was jim davenport. You Had to check the catcher's card x.And rolled a thirteen with yogi berra as a two. The chart said passed ball which should have scored davenport. You said the ball didnt get far enough away and he couldnt score. If he couldnt score, it would not have been a passed ball, so he should have scored.
Hi Jack! If I remember correctly, on the x check it said no runners advanced. I could be wrong and it wouldn't be the first time! Thanks for pointing it out. I'll go back and check.
Hi Robert....I am 100 per cent sure that Hegan is oronounced Hee gan. He became a coach for the New York Yankees and all of the announcers called him Jim Heegan. Love your games Robert......
@@MaxCandD You were right in your commentary. The points standings should have a bit of a shake up following the Heinz 500. I think that it was the most DNF you had in a single race, as well.
Hi,Robert.... Just a note that in the ninth inning when the phillies had first and second and no one out, I would have thought a B u n t was in order There.... Not playing results but I actually thought that at the time of the Phillies having first And second and no one Out.... It was just a thought......keep up the good work robert and i hope the next game gets played soon......
Hi Robert.... I love your games can I watch all of them and I watch repeat games too..... I just wish you would play more games more often.... I would love to help you out but I don't think you need any help you play the games perfectly.... keep up the good work robert!
What a fun replay. I'm impressed that you can play a full game in less than an hour. Small footprint, which includes the full scoresheet. Might have to look into this one. 🏀
Thank you! Glad you liked it! When I first started playing this game, it would take me longer to play a game but once I got used to the flow, the games have become quicker.
Hi Robert.... I'm hoping to see how your picture fatigue system gets worked into a game and I hope this particular game will show it in this way I will be able to decide for myself if I want to use it. Keep up the good work robert!
Robert - I love your pure old fashioned broadcasts! I just found my 4 old original 1967 Strat- teams in mint condition. Since I am 70 I am going to play the heck out of them! Game 1Phillies beat the Cubs 5-4 and the the Yankees beat the Athletics 2-0 with Mickey Homerun #1 and Doubled in the other run for Stottlemyre. You inspire my passion! Thanks!
Great video and series..keep them coming.. I had this game and was using open wheel cars but I’d love to do a Carl Edward’s “replay” from 2012..again great video!!!
Hi Robert....my stratomatic king of the hill tournament spans teams from the early 1900s through the 1970s. I wouldnt know what period of time to use regarding the chart you were reading from. I never used any pitcher fatigue because the original basic game never included it. Thanks Robert....
Hi Robert...... I looked up the article that you referred to and I see that the different seasons are broken down by the author and use different points of endurance. I'm wondering with my King of the Hill tournament that I'm going to start, when a team like the 1906 White Sox would be playing the 1970 Baltimore Orioles, would I be using the points of endurance for the season of 1906 for the White Sox and 1970 for the Orioles or would I use a combination of an average for both of the pitchers for those teams? I'm really not sure. Because I think the article is really meant for using seasons and not necessarily teams through different time periods. So if Eddie cicotte pitches for the White Sox against Mike Cuellar.... would Eddie ciccote have a rating of 14 in the same game that Mike cuellar would have an 11? Thanks Robert.....
Good topic! It would be interesting to read about other things for the Basic Strat - when to hold a player on base, when to steal a base, when to try an extra base, when to play Infield In, etc.
Nice game robert. If I remember right blasingame made an error and booted a grounder but I'm not sure of the inning though. I look forward to your next game as I always do.
Thanks Phil! Yes, finally The Intimidator wins one. It's always a pleasure playing your great game. Hope you're doing well. It's very hot here in Eastern Pennsylvania. 😮💨
I'm assuming by the views on this series that I'm in the minority of your channel viewers, but I really love this series. FAR is my favorite game to put on the table in my house, and it's underrepresented on RU-vid. Thank you so much for continuing this series!
When you get a run with less than 2 min left in the game you can include the points for the run and end the game. Sometimes this is a very exciting end to the game. It was a merciful end in this one. You can also decide there are no runs inside the last 2 minutes then re-roll or just count the roll as a two-pounter.
Good Gm Rob- twins had a power outage in this one - to get knock off the hill looking forward to the next one thanks again Didn’t you do a video explaining the fatigue point or am I mistaken
Nice to see this. The game seems simple, but is passing rules are clever and add interesting strategy. However, I think Our Native stole Forego's move on the back stretch.
Hi max Just wanted to let you know that you don't get an RBI when you ground into a double play. Also, the injuries that you're using really isn't corresponding to a King of the hill tournament because doesn't of course, those injuries when they say 15 games is really based on a 162 game season, which you're not really playing with the King of the hill Tournament.... for example....if you roll a20 which would be15 games out.....its based on afull season schedule. I would divide the number of games by 5....meaning only 4 games missed instead of 15. Its chuck hiller instead of jim hiller.......
Thanks Jack! That's a great idea about injuries, in fact I probably should play with no injuries being that the teams are only 20 man rosters. Sometimes I get brain fog and get someone's name wrong! 🙂
Hi Robert..... always enjoy your replays using basic and I love basic myself. I think I mentioned to you that the one thing that bothers me about basic is you cannot get hit with a pitch. The way to pronounce vinegar Bend Mizel and it's pronounced my z e l l..... vinegar Bend myzel.... keep up the good work Robert
