Great video as allways! If you can find some spare time, it would be great if you could make a video on how to do this for MEP elements as well. I can't seem to get changes to work. Like turning elbows into T's and add to the system (ducting and/or plumming).
thank you for this video, now i can apply this in my project.

Hello, thanks a lot for this detailed video ! I tried your solution, it works well but I found another limit: the upper section cut is good but the lower section is still not working well. If I set my view range from 5m to 10m, I will actually see the the families from -infinity to 10m as long as they go though the 5-10m range.

Also for everyone watching, please go to the Autodesk Community forum, find topics related to this dwg issue and upvote them to add more pressure to Autodesk on solving them ! There is one called "Cut linked 3D DWGs" (I can't put the url since RU-vid doesn't allow it).
This channel is the best Revit content on the Internet. Is this channel still active? Will there be new videos? Do you do consulting work? Thanks for a great education!
Hi! Thanks for the kind words. I am a director if a Multisciplinary Engineering and Architecture consultancy so I have not had capacity for a while to post new content. Hoping to get back to posting in the near future.
@@8020BIM Every time I start a new project I watch your "9 steps to setting up a good Revit model" tutorial. It would help me immensely if you someday would expand it to a series of books, "Best Practices Guide to Design/Build a small apartment building," "Best practices Guide to Design/Build custom residential projects," and so forth. I have watched at least a hundred Revit videos and gone through the Autodesk Certification course and I still really have no idea what I am doing. I still have my drafting table from 30 years ago when I was in trade school. I can churn out a complete set of prints by hand but I can't get even a simple building designed in Revit. I look forward to learning more from you in the near future.
@michaelchow1275 I am glad that you have found the videos so useful, Michael. Truth be told I had considered undertaking some deep dive courses to take people all the way from New beginners to producing infromation for different construction types but it would take 1000's of hours I currently don't have. I am very keen to produce a series similar to what you have suggested in the future. So, thanks for the validation that it is somerhing people would consider beneficial.
As someone who values sharing knowledge wholeheartedly and in an easily understandable manner, I want to express my gratitude for your straightforward and accessible approach. Your efforts are truly appreciated. Keep up the excellent work!
If you are consistent with the language in your text notes then the "Find and Replace" tool can totally update changes to text across multiple views and sheets. The coded notes technique you demonstrate here is very helpful for sure, but the beginning of your video is really misleading.
Agreed, I clarified this in a further video and associated article, merely forgot about the find and replace function when recording. Thanks for sharing.
i tried doing this for my project but my walls became super dark and the furniture was cropped. I realized the 3d camera view was a little too far from my plan view. Fixed that and it looks great now. Thank you!
Hi , have a doubt regarding text height .. as in autodesk they mentioned text height (annotation element) is relative to scale of view ,it should work(maximise & minimise) bassed on scale vary but for some scales its not working like that...for example text height is 2.5mm for scale 1:50 &1:25 it will work nice but for 1:100 & 1:200 text look bigger in view ,so any option is there to set same text height for any scale ?
😂😂finally one thats not in a foreign langauge lol civil 3d tutorials are still mostly in hindi (or whatever) I get the occasional english tutorial for revit at least
Do you have the link to the video explaining how to download the project file templates? On my Revit 23 in the project template drop down my only option is Default_M_ENG
Niall I echo the sentiments below. Truly a wonderful way to add notes. I run into trouble when I want the note on the left side of the number and I add a leader. if both the number and note are visible the leader will not originate from the center of the number. I've tried just mirroring the note, adjusting the family so that there are 2 versions of the note one on each side of the number with visibility parameters for both but I can't find anything that works. Any ideas? I'm really just trying to be able to add a note to either side of a object and make it look good. All of your notes in the video were on the right side of the object they were referencing. Any ideas?
Have you had any success yet with keeping the original rooms in the demolition stage when the new room looks different? when giving the demolition drawings to the contractor its nice with the old room names and number.
hi, i have a problem, i followed all the steps but when I loaded the family into the project and tried to place the beam, it kept the original length of the family (shown in minute 2:49) the beam doesn't stretch accordingly to my project. Do you know how I can correct this?
Thank you for making this video. It is, and will continue to be a great benefit to me learning Revit. I have been using Autocad for years and this is certainly different but will be amazing to know Revit. Thanks again. Take care.
