Short answer, yes. Longer answer, also yes. Lifelink triggers when a creature deals any amount of damage. Since the card says it specifically deals damage to opponents, if Lifelink is present, it will deal damage, gain life from Lifelink, and then gain life from the continuation of her ability.
@SecretSupernova you are correct the only other option is bouncing light of hope or using three blind mice/other copy and or token doubling effects, I really want to do something with it in pioneer but it's just not string enough I don't think
@@Prasmine I'm assuming your meaning what kind of deck you would run, otherwise I'm not sure I understand. It is an enchantment commander, being highly synergistic with the new Room mechanic.
@@SecretSupernova My question was a little confusing, sorry about that. But yeah I was trying to see the ultimate goal of the deck. I usually play Golos or Esika, so I was trying to figure how I would use her
@@Prasmine just mainly 5 color enchantment, but if you want a room based wincon the doll room he has in the video is really crazy with a lot of tokens and theres actually a room alt wincon in "promising stairs" "At the beginning of your upkeep, surveil one. Then if you have 8 or more rooms with different names unlocked, you win the game"
I'm just going to run it as constellation/eerie triggers and things that cares about number of enchantments. The cards mentioned here as well as stuff like all that glitters and the new auras similar to that from this set who's names escape me
I know there is definitely some toy related cards that synergize very well from this set. Cards like Dollmaker's Shop / Porcelain Gallery pair really well with this card.
@@SecretSupernova eh Dollmakers doesnt trigger from her attacks and and opening into Gallery literally turns off the Arabellas ability and is only used as "dramatic finish" kind of move its kinda ANTI synergistic it good "flavor" card but functionally i preffer Skrelvs hive as token generator - but thats not "toy flavoured" which is why i run 4 Skrelvs and only 2 Shops in the standard Arabella deck i play and as far as Commander flavor for the deck, just go for Constructs - previous "toys" were always in "artifact creature - construct" category which would also easily allow Shop to be used both for flavor and practical use
@@SecretSupernova combine Delney with Sheltered by Ghosts on Arabella ... still 2/3 so bypasses 3 power bodies, lifelink affects damage from the triggers doubling the lifegain on top of the double from Delney and Ward 2 triggers twice for ward 4 ... no matter what any deck with Arabella will have Delney and that busted broken aura in it in it ... lets say you are at 4 player table with early 6 creatures on board for bella, when you swing you do 3*6*2=36 damage and gain 72 life ...
While she is easy to counter, red has a few ways to get multiple combats, and there are cards for pinging others for damage whenever a creature enters the field. White has a couple ways to make creatures invincible, too. There are some ways to make her unblockable, as well. It **can** be a rough or slow play sometimes, but my Arabella deck did fairly well even with one of my friends constantly nuking my creatures. Placed second the first time I used my deck.
@@WizardMathis yes that's the only way I pay her, lol kinda like a toxic deck I give her flying, or indestructible, anything that keeps her in combat, she's fun but being such a small creature she's easily killed or countered I like the Gideon Planeswalker making her indestructible every turn during combat Or you can use the other one to prevent damage from a target until your next turn Also comes with you can't lose as long as you control Gideon
So is pretty much every other commander. Counter and removal spells are always present in the commander to remove them. Furthermore, since it is a cheap commander, it's easy to recast, especially over other commanders.
@@SecretSupernova no I mean she has to swing to make her work and she's only 3 toughness Forget spells you can remove her with anything I have this deck and it's fun but any time I go up against one that don't get to do much cause I can just block kill or beat it down with spells Counter it Exile it Turn to defender 0/2 But what I'm talking about is she's weak and there's no way to confidently swing her with losing to defenders or what have you Like an arcades deck with all defenders 0/5 for two then when arcades comes out their 5/5 during combat Arabella just can't swing without dying In my deck besides counter I just have equipment for hex proof, 1/1, flying Anyway to keep her swinging without being blocked Kinda have to play her like toxic where you always are able to swing This also limits what you can block and how you plan your blocks. Personally for me she's so fun but I never get to see her pop off because people just remove her so many times she goes from Two cost To All the cost
@@SecretSupernova not denying she good but there are other commanders that actually can't be countered or have a powerful ward Like sauron is still legal, so ward sack legendary One of my favorite I can't remember the name but she has ward-pay three life, so if you want to cast anything against you have to pay three
@@xxxstindo9531 you know there is a ton of ways to flicker stuff right ? she doesnt need to HIT the attack just declare attack and she does damage to whole table regardless of which opponent you choose to swing at i flicker her with Norin swift survivalist and Parting gust in standard im pretty sure you can do that better in Brawl/commander you can also abuse copies with Mirror Box / Mirror gallery on the field etc there are plenty of ways to swing with her and not care whether someone blocks or not
i'm already in the process of building a deck with obeka and this video is absolutely stunningly helpful, but dude check out silent arbiter: if you only plan to have her on the field she can't be blocked, as well as debuffing your opponents it just absolutely works. Great video!
@@quintenhaire1037 I said MAIN ability, not may. I know it's an activated ability. I say MAIN ability because it's the ability that people will build decks around.
The one question I've had about this deck when I bought it was "does the equipment and enchantment changing to creatures activate any if a creature enters trigger and if so does that mean every turn you get a bunch of those triggers?"
Artifacts and enchantments become creatures from Bello’s effect upon cast. Cards you control applies to cards you attempt to cast, or tokens you create. ETB effects trigger when they actually hit the battlefield. So you first pay mana to cast the non-equipment artifact or non-aura enchantment, the card goes on the stack for casting and becomes a creature if Bello is on the battlefield, you then resolve casting triggers based on when cards were played. Then ETB comes into play, with cards that were on the battlefield first being applied first, then the card coming onto the battlefield being on top of the stack if they have any ETB abilities to apply. Short answer, as long as Bello is on the field, all non-equipment and non-aura cards will become creatures, and they will trigger all non-token ETB abilities or effects.
I’m confused, does an instant/sorcery gaining death touch and lifelink do anything? I was under the impression those abilities were specifically combat damage. Does this mean a 1 damage spell will kill any creature or a 10 damage spell will heal you 10?
Yes to the last part, and that's what makes it powerful. For example, Blasphemous Act essentially gains you thirteen life for each creature on the battlefield.
Those abilities aren’t combat only, Infect isn’t a combat damage ability either (poisonous and toxic are though). That leads to fun stuff if you give a creature that taps to do damage infect or death touch.
I used this commander last week for the first time and smothering tithe with baylen was insane. Every turn rotation it was like I got 2 more land into play on my opponents turns without even playing anything else besides smothering tithe which allowed me to build a huge board state and also be able to interact with my opponents boards. I got purphoros out on turn 3 too and was able to kill 2 of my opponents by turn 5 and the last on turn 7. anytime I get enlightened tutor i’m tutoring for smothering tithe now when playing baylen.
@@SecretSupernova no, because modular needs a number associated in order to set the number of counters the permanent (because there are non-creatures with modular) enters with. But, they are almost all 0/0 creatures, which means, while they're in the graveyard, Alesha can get them back.
Friend at my LGS plays a combo heavy deck with Alesha as the commander. Multiple sack outlets, various infinite combos to recur creatures to the battle field to win in various ways. And the always present specter of master of cruelties in the grave yard, to instagib a player if their shields go down.
