Love this man ! What a legend he was!I just started listening to his music about 2 years now Eve n tho I knew of them. I fell in love with Johnny Cash’s music! ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Marty Stuart married Johnny`s other daughter Cindy I think? And also ended up playing guitar in Johnny`s band for 8 years while as we know now being in love with Constance June or Connie Smith to me and you. Talk about pressure? Your marriage is headed for the rocks while your boss is her father so Marty decided to roll the dice knowing besides becoming divorced he could also be unemployed and he`d seen many a cat after they paid that price, but I don`t think Johnny was that small and he didn't want to lose a picker that beat em all. With Marty`s ungodly talent I think he knew it was time to fly solo and man how he flew.
Rodney Crowell (Diamonds and Dirt) great LP... told a story the other night about traveling to meet his future father-in-law, Johnny Cash (he married Roseanne) and having one too many during the flight. Anyway, Rodney evidently pissed Big John off immediately upon meeting him by being a disrespectful smart ass. Rodney said Johnny looked down at him and said...Son, I never knew you even existed until a few hours ago. You could tell Rodney was just happy to be alive after that intro.
I saw Johnny, June and even George Jones at the New River Ranch in MD one Saturday in the sixties. The men`s room was four makeshift walls with a long piece of metal bent in the middle, pointing down of course. My Dad`s biggest claim to fame was when he was in the facility and George came in. Daddy asked George when the show was gonna start? George said we are gonna start in a few minutes buddy. After they were through Johnny grabbed a fifth of something and went up to a cabin with June. Neither was divorced yet but I`m sure it was soon. I saw George again in `94 at Viking Hall near the VA/TN state line. If you watch the Knoxville concert George did, its exactly the same word for word and the live LP was recorded there. All I can share are cherished memories and confirm that George did not need any damn rocking chair.. lol
First hand account of the beginning of The Johnny Cash & The Tennessee Two Band at Sun Studio by Marshall Grant - Two Parts ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-1Uwf7_KiUfk.html ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-FrzZGu2ZLQM.html
Johnny Cash was a favorite entertainer of mine. I have an original Sun LP and gave it to my son recently. It's a shock that John didn't mention: Luther Perkins who created the "boom-chicka-boom" style on his Fender Esquire electric guitar or Marshall Grant that played bass(The Original Tennessee Two). Perkins remained in the band until his untimely death on August 5, 1968. Marshall Grant remained in the band from it's inception in 1954 until 1980 as bass player and road manager. John mentioned A.W. "Red" Kernodle that played steel guitar but never recorded with the band.
Such a great show! I saw Johnny in concert in 1994 or 1995 in Jacksonville, FL, and he had the same cool train background at the show I attended. I have been to many, many concerts over the years, but getting to see Johnny cash was the highlight.
Dueling electric guitars. Lol Bob Wooton & Marty Stewart. Neither one ain’t gonna let the other out do the other on Doing my time. It was funny. It sounded great
I've seen other clips where he says he started out with "two musicians". The two musicians were Marshall Grant and Luther Perkins. Without those two, we probably wouldn't have a Johnny Cash. I know he had a falling out and a court case with Marshall, but they had patched things up by 1995.
