Hi everyone, I'm Chris, the Chunky Biker. I set up this channel to show everyone what me and my noble steed 'Gus' (my BMW R1200GS) get up to on our rides out. This mostly involves setting off in one direction and then following as many random and out of the way roads as possible. Me and Gus (BMW R1200GS) will also be going on group camps, solo camps, and lockdown rules permitting going to events and bike meets. There will also be some off-road riding taking place, but I will warn you now that most of the time when I go off-road I also end up off the bike... like fall off the bike. Hopefully in 2022 there will also be a big bike trip which usually involves crossing the big wet thing that surrounds our amazing United Kingdom. I hope you enjoy the content that will be added and I welcome any feedback.
I dont have the exact coordinates for it but heres the link to an artical in ABR magazine which gives all the details on how to get there. I will also in future be recording any routes on Wikiloc. So that will make it easier to share and people can add me on there and follow my routes. www.adventurebikerider.com/article/uk-green-laning-lancashire-and-north-wales/
Thank you for watching. It's my phone on a quadlock wireless charger using DMD2, which you can get from google Play Store or apple Store. It has a tone of features and can be customised to what you want by adding app widgets and maps, etc. Then i use the carpe Iter bmw controls so i can use my phone with the Wonder Wheel and added buttons on my handle bars. DMD2 is something I've only just started dabbing with, but it seems very good so far, but there are a few bits where you have to pay extra to get full functionality, which im contemplating doing
Trail riding is fun but I think on the GSA it’s not as much fun as with small lightweight bikes . Dropping a GS is not fun to up right on you own. With Road biased tyres it’s a nightmare. Great video thanks .😊
Thank you for taking the time to watch. I tend do not go out on lanes on my own now for just that reason. Way to heavy. I've not been on a light weight bike since I was a kid so I can remember any different. I would like to try a light weight bike, but I fear it would lead to the wife shouting at me, when she sees another bike in the garage 😂.
Been a few years since I rode Houndkirk(early 2000's) The top of the moor was open, no fence, no wall. The moor was still trying to recover from the fire in the early 70's. After the fire the bridge you cross actually got blocked as the top layer was washed off the moorland and filled to the top of the bridge so it over flowed. That is also the reason the track is wide in places due to equipment required to fight the fire also stripped and widened the original track as they got stuck. Also all those puddles did not exist, it use to be like a seaside beach, the sand washed off the moor and was deposited as a soft flat ground. There is also a gas pipe running under at one point, watch, for white posts with orange markers.(for the helicopter to survey)
