@@johnnytopside3702 yeah mate mounting holes are the same on the engine's you'd just need to check the length and diameter of your existing engine wether it's 22 mm or 25 mm the very odd one has 25.4 mm crank
@@johnnytopside3702 no stress at mate, the only other thing would be the flywheel brake if your old engine has one, you could either remove the flywheel brake handle entirely or when you order the engine get one with engine brake I'm not sure what's available in the USA mate
@@smithiesoutdoorequipment yeah they don’t make Honda mowers or sell them in america anymore thats why I just got a HRX the last run they released it’s like a California model rule that made Honda leave. I don’t know if you can order just Honda engines though haha.
@@johnnytopside3702 we still have honda mowers and outdoor equipment in Aus mate but we aren't as hard as California yet on emissions, we are hard with quad bikes and roll over protection hence why Honda, Yamaha, Polaris and other's quit selling quad bikes in Aus only side by side and 2 wheel
@@Buntybill1 Hi mate no I didn't but I will get it done took me few months to get the parallel cable by time it arrived I had moved on to another project, but thanks for the reminder
@@Buntybill1 no stress mate, unfortunately ryobi is doing this model anymore I believe the only one is the 4kw open frame one, however maxwatt do a 2kva model for $799 or same model with the Yamaha engine for $1299 really depends on how often you will be using it
G'day mate from memory the drain bung is on the sump of the engine if you look underneath the mower you should see it, personally I use the mightyvac oil extraction system because of the amount of engine's I work on but if you wanted something cheaper and does a similar job google the briggs and stratton oil extraction system
Will (Toro part number 144-6377 traction assist handle kit) (for new Toro Time Master mowers) fit on new Toro AWD 21472 mower? Both have same mounting holes and shape.
G'day mate I searched up the part number you supplied, it should my only concern would be the dimensions length width which I haven't been able to find yet, a lot of toro part numbers do fit other mowers
Will not start on petrol but will start if you spray airo start through air cleaner. Have changed petrol, cleaned out carby with compressed air as well, just wondering if I've missed something.
G'day mate from memory there is a fuel filter in line if you follow the fuel line you'll find it, mine had one caused me lots of grief on camping trip it could be that? Have you checked your spark also ?
My new awd Toro lacks traction so I pushed the 2 cables further down towards the motor with no better results. How does pushing the casing down with the cable inside the casing do any thing? What else can I do to help traction? ......many thanks good video!
Will (Toro part number 144-6377 traction assist handle kit) (for new Toro Time Master mowers) fit on new Toro AWD 21472 mower? Both have same mounting holes and shape.
So here is how to fix it. Up on the handlebar look for the personal drive cable. Loosen nut and gently pull that cable until it has tension and tighten it back up. Honestly I don't suggest awd mowers. Rear drive mowers have plenty of traction. As for Toros motors I truely hate them. They utilize a throw away engine not only that but torque they claim is not accurate aswell the compression is weak. You can have a crap load of torque on a mower but if you do not have rpm your mower will just beat the grass and not truely cut. You see vids all the time of owners complaining about decks getting plugged especially in wet grass as well as grass catchers not filling up.
G'day mate sorry for the late reply been away working have no coverage, I'll check when I get home see if I can get some part members for you, thanks mate I always love getting great feedback for the work I've done on my projects.
Gday mate unfortunately it's a fixed carburettor i had a look just after i purchased it, quite frustrating most manufacturers have gone to this design for their carbys
Hey mate. Just used mine for the first time today. Must say I’m happy but noticed it was a bit jumpy and had a tappet ting sound when under power. Did yours do the same?
G'day mate yes it does make the occasional sound when under load, I actually re powered mine with the new honda GCV170 made a huge difference in performance I must say
Great video mate. After watching this I bought one. Happy with it so far. I want to upgrade the plug for the same reason as you. But when I search Torch A5RTC, the NKG equivalent is CR5HSB. I don’t know much about plugs, why did you go the CR5HIX?
G'day mate the CR5HIX is a iridium plug the CR5HSB is just standard plug which will be just fine, I've always run iridium plugs in just about everything so it's my preference, have you run it in? And drained the oil? Cheers for the comments
Cheers. I’ll follow your lead and do the same. I haven’t run it in yet. I’ve only put about half a tank of fuel through it just to test it ran my caravan A/C and to ensure it was operated as described. How long is the run in period, when should I do it’s first oil change?
@@blairstonehouse I done first all change at 1 hour with generator running at about half load for that hour mate, then next one was at 10 hours then regular servicing after that, all new engines can have very small metal particles that will come through in first and 2nd oil changes that's why I do it at those periods some people will do it at 1 hour, then 5 hours then 10 hours but honestly I don't think don't need to do the 5 hour
Good advice@@smithiesoutdoorequipment, I was a fitter machinist back in the day, so I know about metal particles. I just ordered a CR6HIX, I will drop the oil when I install that as it will not be used between now and then. Thanks again for all your help
@@blairstonehouse cheers mate I'm mechanic by trade so I look after all my equipment big and small, and yes some people don't realise even from factory there is very fine shavings in the engines and first few oil changes could be difference between longevity and not. Have a good one mate
Hey mate great video !!! Have you run your aircon at its hardest with this genie ? I've tried mine with the trauma saphire air con and it keeps faulting on overload when i have the aircon at its max, just curious to see if you have had the same issues ? Cheers Ryan
G'day mate thanks for your comments really appreciate it that, I've run it once on max settings and although the genie did get down and work intially, it picked back up again and haven't had any issues of it kicking out on me, can I ask what the wattage and BTU you is if your aircon
@@yamguy33 not sure what going on there mate but I can assure you GX25 is 58 it won't bolt onto the Ryobi GX35 bolts straight up you only need to modify the kill switch wire and up and running as you can see in my video it's GX35 I've fitted I was going to fit the GX50 except they were on back order at the time
That is one Awesome Build! I have no interest in steel deck AWD Toros, Honda GCV's, or snorkels, but that is still one kick ass build. Looks 100% factory. You did a great job. RESPECT
G'day mate always like reading positive comments I take pride in everything I build, small or large jobs, and that shows from your comment that you can see all the hard work that went into getting it where it is now.
Cheers mate appreciate your comments only issues I run into was the no name spark plug! And it's not real good with damp stuff sometimes it will shoot it straight out, other times blocked up but that's to be as expected other then that no it runs great and has Kohler engine not a copy/clone if I can help with anything else feel free to leave a comment I will be uploading more stuff soon garden related so if you'd like to see that feel free to subscribe mate
I have seen some reviews about the catcher cloth being destroyed quite easily to the point they've had to return it. Do you think that is a valid concern?
G'day mate yes that's correct $299 for 6ah and $399 for 9ah and I'm sure they've got a 12ah also but it's $500 which is a lot for the battery, the 40v is actually the 36v they've just marketed it as 40v elsewhere and 36v elsewhere confusing I know. As for the aftermarket batteries I've read some that have had a great run from them, but I've read nightmare posts about them also, so I guess it's luck of the draw mate I have two Ryobi RIG2000 inverter generators running in parallel on my block and they've not missed a beat they usually run 12 hours a day 3 days straight and been doing that for 9 months
@@smithiesoutdoorequipment Thanks for your reply. I guess even should I find that it hasn't got as much power as I want out of the box, I'll always be able to throw some money at some higher capacity batteries to make up for it. Hopefully, that kinda makes it future proof. I guess those batteries will come down in price some day. Interestingly, having looked at a few videos, it doesn't appear that the 40v model allows you to run the two batteries in parallel like this one can. Unless, I've gotten it mixed up, it makes you flip the key which has a pointer to the battery in use. Yeah, I think I'd go for the genuine Ryobi batteries too, having watched some comparison videos.
Thanks for the video. I am thinking of buying this from Bunnings and literally can't wait for a demonstration follow up episode from you soon. I am surprised about how few reviews there are of this mower out there, and yet so many reviews for the newer 40v model which is around $300+ more expensive. Worse, these reviews never show how it cuts grass that actually needs cutting. I also wonder how much the extra battery costs as I would be looking to buy one as well? There was some Bunnings shenanigans with batteries only being on sale 2 at a time or some such thing which gave me pause. Looking at the mower, in store, I did like how the catcher worked as you don't have to reach lower for a flap. That, and being self propelled is great as I'm getting older and have some health issues, and I have an 11 year old who might be able to handle this with supervision. Also, one of the reviews for the 40v mentioned that if you lift the front to turn on the back wheels(as I would want to do) the engine will cut out. Is that so and is it annoying?
G'day mate self propelled still going strong I mow my 1000 sq house yard every weekend and my mother-in-laws 800 sq yard every weekend so it gets a good work out been doing that for about 6 months now
Any issues with it so far? I fed mine a bunch of palm fronds to test it out and it keeps shutting off. May have had the choke on full though, so that might have been the issue.
G'day mate no issues at all do you have the raptor 700 or 900 ? Choke should be set to off entirely once the engine has warmed up, I haven't tried the palm fronds as yet so can't say how it goes with those but I had a Greenfield chipper which is built on same principle as these and it had no issues with palm fronds
Yes exactly the same principle as you would at a caravan park just make sure that everything in van is turned off before starting the generator so you have no load on generator while starting
@smithiesoutdoorequipment you need a Campsafe RV Breaker Supply Lead. That plugs into the generater, normal hose plug, and you plug your caravan into the breaker.
