Been a Redskins fan since elementary school in the late sixties , Labor day weekend every year blocks from my house in East Islip , only cooler truck than Bayshores 39 might be the backwards vette or bayshores cyclops. I get retiring cyclops but replacing the 39 is just BLASTPHEMUS , 4 webers , smokin 7.50 20,s , nothin cooler on earth
One of the keys for a good time here is getting water in the hose ASAP. Look how far the hydrant man is ahead of the others after the start. A ‘quick handle’ will get the water moving in the hose while it is being stretched out. 😉
I love this film! This is Great To Watch! Glad They Did It Here In Lindenhurst & With The Snails! Lindenhurst Snails & North Lindenhurst Piston Knockers Are My Lindenhurst Teams! I Am A Lindenhurst Person All My Life!
As a JR firefighter I do things kinda similar but instead of trucks we use carts but we run efficiency the same overall i think it’s very fun and would recommend to someone
I, like many kids on Long Island, grew up a "Tournament Brat". From the mid 1960s on, My mom would take us to many tournaments every summer. My dad was on the drill team of Franklin Square. He dug ladder, then drove and then was an official through 2013. I LOVED touring the pits with my friends and checking out all the B & C rigs. BTW, the Snails had the greatest C rig of all time, WAY back in the 60s. It was infamously known as the "Backwards Corvette". Anyone who remembers it will agree!
I was a member of West Babylon Fire Dept 1968-72. We ran a team for a few years and competed with Lindenhurst and other Babylon Township departments. Great guys and great times. Thanks for the video.
In 83 or 84 I was a junior indian from wyandanch and broke ny state record for junior ladder.3.29 at hagerman I really miss them days.thats all I ever thought about was racing
Nice combined practice footage with Lindenhurst. Rare these days to see a ladder climber end up on the other side of the ladder ! Glad he pulled through without having to drop to the pavement.
Not only is Bay Shore fortunate to have enough man power to select the fastest for each position, demote & promote as necessary, and have a "backup" team, but they also use 3 different practice tracks (from what I just learned.) Of course this all may vary from year to year, but sure explains how they are the state champs in 2018.
TheTwabster it is nice to have 3 tracks within a 2 minute ride of where we keep our trucks, the arch at our fire house, our track and the Islip town track which is right next door. 2014 was the first year in which we got the members from st James when they moved to bay shore, so shown here is us trying to figure out where they fit in. This is the beginning of the team that won the 2018 state.
@@redskin6 that's awesome ! Really cool of you to share all this footage... many thanks. Perhaps it will be of value & inspiration to other racing teams. Stay safe & covid free.
There used to be more variety, some with 3 axles to help brake in half the distance. I could tell you anything you want to know, outside of exact engine specs. Those are highly guarded secrets.
I grew up going to the tournament at fireman's park and eventually married a firefighter from Patchogue who was on the Patchogue team the forty thieves great memories and great family fun and support for the fire departments
