My Uncle Ned, who is high up at Krix has a 28 seat theater with 48 subwoofers. My Uncle Neds set up is 52.48.64, the 64 height speakers are like just enough.
Any chance we could find out what the dimensions of the room were in this video great set up I have a similar situation with ceiling height need to figure out maximum screen size I can get into based on distance and everything
Time for another live reaction to this video. I'm excited for this one! (I know that no one cares outside of me and my comment) Epic beard! Looks like a theater professional speaker in the hallway as you enter the room (megaphonix I believe it is called?) This demo room looks like a home theater...looks like a great place to demo new Krix products! Those fluffy brown curtains look like the deadened sound BIGLY Michael! Top bloke...love to see him in another video! Wall of subs...go on.... Michael coming in clutch on the b-roll of Tony? Love it! I'm not familiar with the OWX product line...neat to see that you're doing live testing in this room LOL @ the speakers sitting in the back row of seating "YAM"-uh-ha vs. "Yah"-ma-hah...fun! Time for details on the OWX series. It makes sense why they were chilling in the back row. Looks like on-wall vs. in-wall. I love to see new products from KRIX. Had me literally laughing out loud at the BM on the wall and "are these for me??" Oh baby! Infra-subs (again, BM written). Wait...(32) 12 inch drivers? Michael downplays it...only (16) due waveforing (insert trademark logo here!) Waveforming looks amazing and I hope to have Trinnov at some point in my life. Trinnov working with Krix is on this new tech is great Great to know that Krix is finally in the USA...me and wifey will be moving John Wick 3...shotgun scene...dude...I have to watch this movie again... Bloopers! Michael - grow out that beard, mate! You got this!
Thanks Tony great video as usual 👍🏻. I wish I hadn’t watched this one though. I was almost 90% decided on 3 x Epix for my LCR and 4 x IW-50 for the surrounds for my new room. I was just waiting on my trip to Melbourne for the Hifi show and also visit a Melbourne store with the Epix on demo. Now we have another contender with the OWX-55 for the LCR. Will be interesting to see and hear them in action and see if they will suit my proposed setup. Thank again for a great video (or not) 😅
Thanks so much for this video. You have a great raport with the company. You have spoken to me before about your thoughts on infrasonic low end and you weren't a big fan. Have your thoughts changed after this experiencel 😂 another great video. 👍
I am not a huge fan of the whole rattling your butt but paired with waveforming, these subs sound and feel incredible. I'm not a big basshead, but I like punchy and tight bass - I'm not after unrealistic stuff... more consistency with what im watching.
@@BuildMontage that's how I like my bass. I don't have gear on this level shown here, but I do have an Acoustics Audio 3060s sub, and I've given it the SVS Soundpath treatment (4 screw in feet) The difference they have made to bass integration has been a delight. In my instance a 2 channel system for music. Much of the errant frequencies that ripple through the house have been cleared up and more subtle drum and beat detail really shine through. I prefer musicality with low end response for sure.
@chevron916 - that one is mounted onto the wall as normal with the included bracket. The cabinet's beveled profile helps to keep it inconspicuous on the wall.
Great addition with the OWX range, i really wanted something that was above the megaphonix in performance but not as physically big as the PIX range - it felt like a bit of a gap in the range, as if you didnt have the MX wall modular solution, your kind of left without an option - perfect addition to the range - I may actually move to these.
Absolutely loved this video! Thanks Tony and Michael. - Question: in what setting would one use the owx -50 over a megaphonix in wall? Both have a similar depth.
Hi @chevron916, good question! The OWX-50 doesn't have an in-wall variant like the Megaphonix does, it's on-wall only. The OWX would be for those wanting to step up to a compression driver and constant directivity horn, with more output and a slightly more compact cabinet that's also a bit easier to aim towards your main seat (with the included bracket).
Would you actually need x8 of these new Infrasonic subs, if pairing with the OWX-50 as your LCR? Or would you be able to use 4 in a room of this approximate size?
So the main reason we have this configuration is that Krix were testing out Trinnov Waveforming with a number of different subwoofers and configurations. You absolutely could use these OWX-50 and 55 with standard subwoofers, the two are not mutually exclusive - this combination though is a thing of beauty. Four subs absolutely works in most cases, with or without waveforming.
@@BuildMontage Great to know. I guess there are no price details on this new infrasonic sub yet? I've been considering an MX-20 purchase next year, so very keen to see how an alternative setup with OWX-50 and separate subs will compare. Interesting that you said what you heard in this room sounded at MX-30 level quality.
Awesome speakers, I wish they would sell them in the US, the 55s would fit in nicely in my room for Atmos. One question, what is the material they use surrounding the LCR speakers?
They are coming to the USA - there is a distributor there now taking care of that market. The material they used for some sound absorption is tontine. Highly absorbant - and as an R&D room, didnt need to be pretty :)
@@BuildMontage Cool, we’ll look into that material as I’m building a baffle wall and this looks like an interesting option. And that’s fantastic news that Krix is finally coming to the USA. I’ll keep my eye out. Thanks for the response.
I enjoy watching the video clip about Krix cinema 🎥 room the new Krix speakers must sound great watching movies. The bass watching John Wick must sound amazing .Thank you showing Krix cinema room..
Thanks for a great video Tony. Can’t wait to see and hear some of these products live. KRIX have ascended to another level and you had the opportunity to experience this first hand. SC 🤢
Definitely I feel super lucky to be invited to the 50th Anniversary of the company - and the new subs they have plus the OWX-50 LCR speakers are insanely good!
@@BuildMontage So very much deserved. You are a passionate believer in KRIX products and a great ambassador for their quality and range. I can’t imagine another KRIX conference without TJ present.
why doesnt krix send any speakers for review? The rest of the world can only think bad things if you wont show anyone the product in a non biased setting.
Yes they do, I have been sent plenty to do reviews with - most recently the LX-7 Linear LCR - full video on my channel :) I'm honestly SUPER biased about Krix. I am a massive fan, love their products - NO, I'm not paid and never have been, and I buy all my speakers - so if you think I'm biased, you are correct, but not for the reasons you may think :)
Infrasonic as in sub 20hz? I don't see any subwoofers on their website that can play below 20hz which seems like they have fallen behind the other home theater industry leaders.
A total of 5 subwoofers. Two MX-10 subwoofers and a Cyclonix 12 at the front, and two wall mounted Volcanix Slims at the rear. I'll pin the rebuild series to the comment section shortly.
@@BuildMontage When I was testing mine I stood Nickles (The US coin) on edge on top of the manifolds and then put in a 16 Hz tone. The Nickles didn't fall over, that's how well it cancelled the mechanical energy. I have mine mounted back to back with the supports very close to the magnet but as long as theirs have good solid cast frames and their baffle is ridged enough, theirs should work really well too.
Hi Tony. Thanks for reviews you do. I'm using shield pro but it has really big issue that I can't solve. Dolby vision and sdr Playback is really good but issue with HDR 10 is disturbing. I can't get 24p playback with HDR 10 in 10 bit. It Drops to 8 bit and chroma switches from 4:2:0 to 4:2:2. The only way to get 10 bit 4:2:0 is leaving refresh rate at 60 hz. Is any way to solve this problem? And how's it with zidoo does it play videos without quality drop like Blu-ray player? Or is it better to stick with my Panasonic Blu-ray player? Im using Sony oled a95l and Denon 6700
That's an interesting issue. I haven't experienced anything like that before so I can't really help but having a refresh rate determine the chroma subsampling is very odd. Zidoo works great, has the HDR to SDR conversion process as well.
That shotgun scene in John Wick 3 absolutely SLAMS you in the chest. I've got dual Klipsch SPL-150's and it slams I could only imagine what you experienced in that room.
I agree! But its probably like that coz they are always swapping and changing things around all the time. I also think the purpose of the room is for speaker testing and demo. Not really sitting there and watching a whole movie. I dnt even think they watch whole movies in there
Both are a factor in this scenario. You need long throw distance to meet the size, however the Sony projectors have a great throw ratio for closer distances than other projectors like JVC. The screen is an Encore screen - you can check out Sydney HIFI Monavale's website (link in description).
Hey Tony, great Video :) The masking system looks promising! What material are you using for the panels? I'm planning to do a mechanical masking system as well, where the width of the panels is about 3.6 meters... Can you recommend a material that would be stiff/light enough? Cheers
Hey there, make sure you watch part two of the video :) I have them in there now, I'm using 6mm MDF however it does "wobble" a little, it's stuff enough to not look like it does - and I get it nice and close to the screen (part two is in the pinned comment) - Im about to film Part 3!
