I never would have even thought it but, after listening to you here, I think art licensing might actually be for me. I love creating so many different styles and types of art that it might scratch my itch in that part of my artist journey. I definitely have a personality that is open minded, patient and flexible. I've been in process mode the past two years creating what inspires me and honing my painting skills. A couple of questions that I thought of was did you get approached by an art agent or did you seek one out? I have gotten spam from what looks like a possible art agency but was only a way for them to get more followers etc. Which leads me to my second question and that is; Is there a resource that exists that lists reputable art agents and or their agencies? Now that I am typing this out I am also thinking is there certain criteria or pitfalls to steer clear from when dealing with an agent and also what is a type of licensing deal you would or have avoided? Thanks so much for sharing your wisdom! It truly means more than you know! I also love your ethos on not knowing when you will post next. Be so proud of that boundary you created. It often takes people a lifetime to get to that place of not giving in to the social media pressures of constantly posting for fear of not being relevant. You're a great example to so many of us and I love it!!
Will you describe at some point what is the best way to produce work for a licensing portfolio. Size of original work? Digital file size? Stuff like that.
Yay! So glad you posted again! I would love it if you could upload once a week like you used to or every other wk bec you’re videos are very informative and fun
Super fun seeing all your beautiful work Annie!! I like to call my art licensing a "semi-passive" income stream haha. Thanks for your reminder of a tight portfolio, I'm off to clean things up a bit!! And your pointy finger absolutely helped. 😄
Annie... because of you I took the leap and bought the Epson P900. It was delivered today, and I'm watching and rewatching this video to make sure I'm doing everything correctly. I'm taking all of your advice. Thank you SO much for sharing this!! I'm so grateful.
My question would be similar to what you said other people ask you. I'd love to see a video on what you consider a portfolio ready for licensing/behind the scenes of the portfolio you send out (or would send out if you were just starting out pitching for licensing). Especially including digitizing your portfolio...assuming people don't really view non digital portfolios much these days?
Your videos are so helpful and interesting. Thank you for sharing! So inspiring 💗 I'm nowhere close to having a portfolio ready, but it's nice to know the path if I do go that direction.
😅 I can relate to the YT schedule! I'm realizing I just need to take time off when I go on vacation instead of trying to get ahead, keep up, and jump right back in immediately. If I just plan time off twice a year, I think I can keep up with posting every week minus those 2 weeks/months. Glad you're back! Love seeing your art on products.
Very confused as to whether you're using Matte Medium or Retarder (you showed the Retarder Medium bottle) which have two completely different purposes. However, you keep saying "Matte Medium" in the video. Also, the link you have in your description box under Matte Medium "OR" leads to a Cobalt Blue link.
This was very informative...thanks. One question, near the 20 minute mark or so you compared a print to the image on your laptop screen. Is your laptop calibrated? And if it is, is it calibrated for not only what you see but also what you print out? I no longer do this because I'm not a professional but when I was using calibration software it was crazy expensive.
Oh my gosh I loveeee the colors! Annie, your art is such a breath of fresh air! I’ve been struggling with perfectionism in my own art for a while now-to the point where art started to become a source of anxiety instead of joy and fun. I’m so happy to have stumbled across your channel though because I’m beginning to find joy and freedom again using your techniques! Thanks so much for sharing with us. 🩷
Gorgeous. ❤ If you put velum or even tracing paper between your pages that will keep them safe from sticking etc. ❤ I’d love to see the orangey spread too 😊
Thank you for the wonderful, informative videos. I love your channel! I often use Photoshop’s File > Automate > Photomerge feature to automatically align and stitch the divided scanned images. This can be a much easier way than aligning manually. I Hope this saves time.
This is so helpful! Thank you so so much for sharing this process! I would love to learn more about how you've learned to mix colors (knowing which colors to add into a mix to adjust the tones). Super new to mixing paint so that is super intriguing!
Well done. You have a nice on screen presence and a clear way of describing things. I've recently decided to begin selling my art and then have learned about art prints. I'm thinking I should outsource the printing first to see if there is even a market for my work before I invest in a printer. But it sure is tempting!
Loved hearing about your trip!! The retreat looked incredible!! Can't wait to see what you work on now after inputting so much beauty and inspiration!! Also get yourself some organic wine gal, it's those sulphites in the wine that will kick your butt! 🌸
Annie , You have reinspired me again. Before 2020 I was in several boutiques. I lost my momentum when the world was shut down instead, of pushing forward selling on line. Thanks for sharing your wonderful journey!!
I love this painting. I love how you used all the colours just for peonies. I have got to try this. I am so rigid in my thought process in what colour or colours would go well together so seeing you do this I loved it every step of the way absolutely loved it, I’m aesthetic by the way, which means I see when I’m really blissed out, so soi never really know what will bring it on but but it’s usually an 80s tune or a favorite movie or person like my kids that’ll make me get giddy and happy! This made me have that feeling! So you gotta know you’re doing something right with your process!
