In terms of educational attainment and income growth the entire region is at the bottom. The region is twice the size of the Richmond area, yet the opportunity for upward mobility is very limited.
Lot of cap there. Norfolk and Virginia Beach are nothing alike. Newport news is nicknamed "bad news" by people who live in the 7 cities. One of the highest crime rates.
Or try Oceanview Norfolk for about half the price of Chix Beach. Some down sides to Norfolk, lousy schools, but our kids are grown. At the time of this video I got a place with a dock in my backyard, 3 blocks from the beach for just over $400,000. Same kind of place at Chix beach would be at least double.
-Norfolk is the only real “city” in that area. -VA Beach is one big boring suburban area. -Portsmouth has potential but never could get right. -NN/Hampton got HS football, HU and nothing else worth mentioning. -Chesapeake is a mix of suburban & country. -Suffolk is straight up country.
Pick any other year besides 1981 buddy… one simple google search will show you 1981 held the highest mortgage rates in history! This is not an argument that can simply be won by comparing mortgage rates!

Now, I'm not AS familiar with VA Beach 🏖️⛱️ but I was indeed born in the city of Portsmouth in the Portsmouth Hospital 🏥 when my Dad was stationed in Norfolk for the US Navy. Don't remember a damn thing about it because we left & moved away to California just MONTHS after I was born, lol. But, apparently, as my birth certificate reads & my parents have told me over the years, it's supposedly true. Never ever have I been back to Virginia since I was born BUT it's something that's on my Bucket List! Closest I've ever been to VA since I was born was a trip I took to Tennessee & then northern Florida just a few years ago. But this particular video that you've posted/uploaded here?? Has definitely lit a fire under me to motivate me to travel there SOON. My 4-5 year plan or goal to see where I was born! A big Thank You for this!
we vacationed there for yrs. knew the area well enough to feel comfortble moving there on my own. lived off of shore drive, great area.was there for isabel. moved to fl after 4 1/2 yrs and don't miss it
I had to come read the comments. NN is wack, Hampton is better. Norfolk and VABeach has its good and bad areas. I would say VABeach is #1. Just my opinion. This man buggin!
Virginia Beach is last because it’s an unwalkable hellscape, idk about Newport News first. The way all the rent rising, they may be on to something tho 😅
