Have been applying for over 2 years and 300+ applications and had pulled out a yellow book found more plumbers and tried cold calling to begin conversations as well txt messages and had great conversations but always told the same thing they are only looking for for journeyman and not taking on apprentices. Have tried this in the new England area I would travel or move for an opportunity to become a plumber.
I worked for some real POS guys before being put down, gossiped about had guys take credit for my work when I was an apprentice, I even stopped my lead from stealing at the SH a few times, I get worked up when I think about all the bs I dealt with coming up in the trade. I always had a great attitude, worked my butt off and always wanted to learn and grow. These could be some of the realities to getting into a trade with no connections. I almost left the trade because of this, but I got back into it and keep my head high knowing I passed those clowns.
Im so glad i watched this video. Going to apply to be an apprentice right now and never knew about getting registered. This could definitely save some headache later on not having my time wasted since my end goal is journeyman
I thought about getting into the trade but after watching some videos don’t think I’m capable. Always wanted to work with my hands but idk think that’s just a pipe dream.
So the pex pipe you ran the small copper tube down to some floor drain some were. Did you brake the floor up to run that pex to above the floor drain ptrap? How did you conect that pex pipe to the 2" floor drain pipe.. i hope you didnt just drill a 1/2" hole into the 2" abs floor drain pipe above the pee trap. Here in Nw Ont Canada them open vents are totaly ilegel.. they make a lot of nose an known to fail an not vent pluged drain line an water backs up an out it. Fail an lets the gas in. Ilegel ..
Yes I also, sit down and show you in video how to tackle questions as well (I answer them in full). I go through many examples in each section of me breaking down the mindset. Lots of useful things for you.
I started my first year in residential & commercial service. Switch to commercial construction, and like it a lot better. Yall resi service guys can keep those crawlspaces and dealing with sewage. I'll stick with rough-in and top-out new buildings and renovations.
5:32 those are the ones that have tried to do your job and know how hard it is, the rich people dont tip...honestly how do you think they stay rich also consider they may not be rich everything they have could be a front all in debt they are living paycheck to paycheck.
Hey Kenny, I am Charbel, 24 years old from Lebanon, majored in computer science for some reason!!!! and I really enjoyed watching your videos! However, I really and desperately have some questions before going to Canada in January 2025. I am an international student who applied for a plumbing mechanical techniques program at Algonquin College Ottawa. I always had a thing for skilled trades especially plumbing so that is why I decided to take this program in Canada and perhaps find an apprentice after graduation. Will it be hard for me as an international student to find and apprenticeship while studying and stay as a legal worker(co op work visa) after my study program is over to continue my apprenticeship? Can I apply for a red seal under my work visa? Is it worth it money wise(does it make a living) after completing the apprenticeship and opening my own business? My whole plan and goal is to study plumbing in Canada. Work during my studies in plumbing, apply for an apprenticeship right before I graduate(or before if I had an opportunity), renew my work permit, complete my apprenticeship program(3-5 years), apply for red seal, have my own plumbing business. Is this hard for me as an international student?

Hii I’m gonna start my pre apprenticeship plumbing diploma at Conestoga college in this september and looking forward to start the apprenticeship to become a plumber.Any advice
I am not sure that is up to the pluming inspector to catch, there responsibility is to make sure the equipment is piped to code. In the commercial world they have a commissioning agent verify installation and operation (pre-functional and functional) and hopefully they would catch that detail. I would compare the engineers drawings to see if they showed a pump installation detail and compare that to what the plumber installed.
Sounds like one of those builder grade budget pits, big cut out on the lid and they are very tight. Liberty pits are alot spacier. But I guess throwing in a strap wont hurt(note tomyself), specially when there's loads of water in the ground, very often these pits never see water.
Good observation/diagnosis...I've seen this happen on multiple occasions. When the system/pump is initially installed, its properly set in place but if not correctly secured to prevent movement...this will occur initiating a call back or service request not to mention property damage. Good information for all plumbers to be aware of when installing the pump {usually with the free moving float)
You're absolutely on the right side bro. This happens all the time with certain people that only see it as a favour. But if the table was turned they would not appreciate it..
I’ve been there man. I’m a plumber in a small town, and I’ve had customers try to ruin my reputation over 400 dollars on a bill. I don’t question my own integrity, but I could not believe how they were acting. I actually just retired from full time plumbing, switch careers to farming. Could no longer deal with unreasonable customers, was too mentally and emotionally draining that it just wasn’t worth it anymore.
Could you leave the first valve in place and place a secondary valve to protect the basement unit. The primary valve would protect the entire home and the secondary valve protects the basement unit from the upper units.
Is Ontario Part 7 (plumbing code) itself obsolete officially, or is the entire Ontario Building Code (all parts) obsolete now? I have the entire 2012 OBC printed off myself (the PDF was free) but I noticed that the PDF for the National Plumbing Code doesn't include all the same charts that the printed one provided with the exam had (I.e. circular/non-circular rain water leader sizing, water service/distribution sizing based on different kPa pressure ranges, etc. It isn't cheap to purchase a printed national plumbing code from Orderline but I will probably have to get one now.
Other than red seal being interprovincial, some placement agencies for plumbing trade actually request that you have a red seal certification or they won't even consider trying to place you anywhere. For those businesses, it's viewed as a prestige-thing rather than Alberta technically recognizing an Ontario journeyman license pre-red seal (before 2010?) I'm been licensed since 2007 but didn't have red seal until I requested to write it a couple of weeks ago and passed it. Basically the CofQ is both the journeyman and red seal all in one now.
