I didn't know either. But I did jump out of a plane piloted by Arthur Godfrey. He was a Brigadier General (AF Reserve) and visited Pease AFB NH, in 1970, he was invited to pilot a HC-130, one of six assigned to the 54th ARRS MAC, for delivering Pararescuemen to the field or water. I had a feeling it was Arthur Godfrey at the preflight briefing and confirmed on my headset after we got in the air. I asked the General if he was the Arthur Godfrey of TV and he said, "one and the same" in his gravel voice. He asked who he was speaking to and I introduced myself as Airman 1stClass Arthur Dorrough USAF Pararescue. He said in all his years of piloting he had never had anyone jump from his plane. Shortly after, my teammate and I jumped out at Framingham.
Elvis called Chuck Berry the real king of rock n roll....He also named Jerry Lee Lewis the real king of rock n roll....ELVIS hated to be called ***KING*** anyway,.therefore HE preferred calling the other guys ***KINGS****...ELVIS was the KING of entertainment, of all kind of Music, of Gospels,.whatever song HE sang, HE always sang it better than anybody else...ELVIS was a very humble man, and HE recognised that HE was greatly influenced by the blues performers , HE never denied it.., like HE never denied HIS roots...*****LONG LIVE THE KING****..
I've watched a lot of videos about why pete was sacked, and I've come to the conclusion that it was mainly his personality. He was an introvert, and the other three were extroverts. George especially, didn't like the fact that pete didn't talk much and just sat expressionless during their gigs. Ringo had a much more similar personality to the other three, even though he wasn't their first choice for Pete's replacement.
The only person who knows is Tommy himself ,I wish there was a interview with him to say if it happened or not , or someone who drove them or saw them.
Howie is amazing, still playing, at 86 years old, we did some gigs in Portugal, lots of fun, and good old rock n roll, cheers to my dear friend Howie Casey !!! 🌟🎷🍾🥂🎉🎼🎵🎵🎵🎵
Elvis was already playing up and down the mid south and recorded at Sun before The Hayride. It wasent the Hayride that fully established Elvis it was signing for RCA Victor that did that.
Yeah, one hell of a lot of interesting stuff that i personally never heard. puts a couple more pieces of the puzzle together. thanks ! being an american and growing up at the tail end of the british invasion, it is always intriguing to me that so many pioneering english youths were into the band scene at that particular time, and what an interwoven circle of incredible musicians of that time period! it is mind blowing that so many have become recognizable and even legendary names to this day
Too hear the difference between Pete and Ringo listen too the Beatles Decca tapes and then The Beatles Live at the star club 1962 (with Ringo) you'll hear how bad Pete played.
This is incorrect. Although bass guitarist Billy Hatton was friends with Billy Fury, the Liverpool Four Jays never recorded or played with him. The group on Billy’s disc were an entirely separate band from down south and it's because of them the Liverpool Four Jays changed their name to The Fourmost
I'm not surprised the expert here said that McCartney was very contradictory in his comments about dumping Pete. Paul is always trying to "clean up" the Beatles' dirty laundry, and tries - even to this day - to rewrite Beatles history to paint himself in a better light.
I very much remember the Crawdaddy club at Richmond athletic ground with Giorgio introducing the bands. Great times along with Eel pie island club. Many happy memories 👌
Good look-back, By the way their name came out of a shoe, titled QUO VADIS, they shuffled it around and their manager Pat Barlow (a gas-fitter at the time) suggested STATUS QUO. They then dindn`t even know the meaning of it.
You got it wrong from the start. Dick Taylor formed Little Boy and the blue Boys with Jagger first. Mick later brought Keith in the band while Mick also was singing with Alexis Korner. Brian sat in with Alexis Korner and met Mick and Keith. Keith with his Chuck Berry riffs wasn’t up to par for blues yet according to Alexis Korner. Brian got chummy with Keith at that time. Brian asked if Little Boy Blue and the Blues Boys, Dick Taylor, Mick Jagger, keith Richards and Tony Chapman if they would like to join he and Ian Stewart. So really Brian Jones formed The Rolling Stones out of who? Little Boy Blue that’s who. If you haven’t heard the Little Boy Blue and the Blue Boys “lost tapes” I suggest you look them up on RU-vid. For anyone who is very familiar with the earliest Stones cover set list, there it is. The Rolling Stones sound and style was already formed before they joined up with Brian and Stu, grant that they all got much better playing together. Brian taught Keith to play much of the blues covers they later played. Before and while they were the Stones they played a lot of Chuck Berry as that’s was Keith’s thing. They also played a lot of Jimmy Reed. Brian got them their first gig at the Crawdaddy, he named them The Rolling Stones after a the Muddy Water’s single which was on the table and when asked over the phone “what’s the band called” at the moment got them their first gig.
I am a drummer and saw Pete live. His timing on the bass drum was off and he was very basic. Listen to his drumming on love me do. Just not good enough. However he seems like an okay guy.
