you are born an artist... ^^ end of story. 9 months of nothing and then there are people that just got good within 150 days and i mean rendering, anatomy, line quality, perspective, even clothing. That is talent no matter how you slice it.
Ultramarine blue is so far apart from yellow that it doens't come anywhere close to making a rich turquoise. In fact, if you use a yellow a little bit more on the orange side, like indian yellow, the ultramarine + indian yellow mix comes out a super greyed out muted green. Phthalo turquoise or even phthalo green is the awnser in that regard, as you showed. Phtalo Blue is also appropried, but since I bought a tube of phthalo turquoise, i found it more useful then either phthalo blue or phthalo green alone. Thanks for the video
Definitely still experiencing the "rock" in the charcoal with Generals pencils. I just got four new ones, 2 HB and 2 2B, and the HBs both don't draw. I've sharpened them a bunch and sometimes get them at a good angle. But it's still an issue!
I am quite disappointed with my Nitram purchase as well. I bought Nitram's kit with the four various charcoals. It is annoying they don't write the types of charcoal and number on the coloured label (HB, H, B etc.) because non of us bother to memorize the colour codes. Besides, the sticks don't yield as much charcoal as some of my other charcoal brands. Then there is the hideous sound from the hardest ones. Finally, they are way too overpriced. Don't buy them. Chose Generals, Cretacolour, Conté, or Faber Castell instead.
Thanks for sharing your opinion here! I do like their medium charcoals because they are so hard compared to other brands, it gives a totally different mark. But that really hard one, yeah it can sound awful.
You might be able to get a replacement blade for the one that's gotten dull. Afmat offers them for the corded sharpeners, so maybe they offer them for the rechargeable ones, as well.
The annoying noise is silenced by mounting more paper on the drawing table, this isolates the wood from the charcoal and prevents acoustics, greetings, I admire you a lot, you are a great artist, greetings from Spain
@@SchoolofRealistArt I use the Nitram baton a lot since I work with Conte a Paris Pierre Noire, it is my favorite pencil, this one is 10 mm and I couldn't find a pencil holder, the baton serves as such and it also made that infernal sound and I solved it that way , a big greeting

Or get a sandpaper and make the block of your choice, for less than 1$. Add an extra 0.50$ and get a different grit sandpaper, for even better result's than the expensive one.
I believe that the confusion a lot of people seem to have with this comes from the fact that we're told in elementary school that the primary colors are Red, Yellow and Blue, with no explanation, and then in the modern age, people see the RGB mode, on their computer, which seems similar (Red, Green and Blue), but those are two different things and unless they studied the subject specifically, a lot of people aren't aware that they don't work at all in the same way and that there's basically two systems for producing colors: Additive (RBG, for light) and Substractive (CMYK, for print). The RGB system produces colors by adding different colors or wavelengths of light together, and we use it for computer monitors, TVs, LED lights, etc; while the CMYK system produces colors by superimposing 3 other colors, which are Cyan (a kind of turquoise), Magenta and Yellow, with (or without) Black. That's actually what a color ink cartridge contains in a printer. These pigments are considered the real primary colors for printing and are pretty intense. The system is called substractive because contrarily to light, that adds the colors, when you're using something like ink or paint, the different wavelengths are substracted, which means that every color is blocked except the one we're seeing, that bounces back off the surface and our eyes interpret it as a specific color. But now, if Cyan, Magenta and Yellow are primary colors for print, why aren't they commonly used as primary colors for painting as well? It's not that there's a third system, it's simply that most paints are very dense and opaque, and it's much more difficult to get the desired results by mixing them, unlike with ink, that's pretty much transparent, so the computer calculates the exact amount of each color that's needed to get the right result and the printer superimposes coats of these three colors instead of mixing them together like we do with paint. Because of this, Red, Yellow and Blue are still taught to be primary colors for painting, but this has its limits. Some colors can't be attained by mixing these pigments and have to be bought. That being said, even in print some colors are unattainable by simply mixing Cyan, Magenta, Yellow and Black. That's why people in the traditional printing industry (using a press) often use other pigments, like Pantone Colors (along with CMYK) which offer more intense and precise colors for specific areas, that a digital printer can't produce using the CMYK system alone. Also, it is worth noting that: Magenta + Yellow = Red Cyan + Yellow = Green Cyan + Magenta = Blue Which are the three colors in the additive system (RGB). Both systems are complementary but non-interchangeable (mixing light colors and mixing paint or ink won't give the same results).
Actually, in print, they superimpose transparent layers of the colors Cyan, Magenta and Yellow, with (or without) Black. The "system" is called CMYK. These pigments are pretty intense, and Cyan IS already a turquoise.
Sorry for the late reply. Sometimes yes, depends on the brand. Phthalos tend to lean toward turquoise and some brands I’ve found even the phthalo blue will get you a turquoise type color.
I loved this! And i love that it is like you said not for someone just beginning to learn to draw figure, do you know any other books that are on a "more difficult" level? And not for someone just starting? & Do you know any other books you think i'd like if i liked this?
Dangit, I understand why they blurred the nudity, that being said some of whats blurred out is important stuff. Its nice the drawings are not blurred, still annoying the source is though. Might even be a deal breaker because there is a lot of information lost with having the photos blurred in ways that are unnecessary, IMO
I used to believe it was totally ok to use pics from the news as source material until Shepherd Ferry got sued by the AP for using a copyrighted photo for his Obama “Hope” posters. I think it also makes a difference if you are selling the product, or if it’s an unflattering or slanderous piece. But I am not selling most of my work. Still, I try to use my own original photos.
I taught myself how to paint. The bit about all skin being a grade of orange is epically monumental for me ❤. I haven’t been struggling with skin tones…but this info increases my skill level instantly.
@@oafleming Google it, there is plenty of proof that certain people are genetically predisposed to produce art to a high standard. For example, if they were born into a family who were talented artists, they too would inherit an artistic gene (or genes). There's also a book written about it (art cannot be taught) I think it's called. Don't get me wrong, anybody can produce art to a basic standard, but we can't all produce the quality of art that you see here on youtube. I'm not saying they don't work hard at their craft, but the core talent or genetic inclination has to be there too. It's a bit like saying we can all sing, but there aren't many of us that can sing like Whitney Houston, or Beyonce Knowles, or Nat King Cole for example.
