Hello and thanks for asking the question. Stink pits are created by gamekeepers and filled with the dead bodies of wildlife, fish and other animal remains. The smell of decomposing animals lures foxes towards the bait where snares are set to catch them as they approach. More information on our campaign against snares can be found on SnareWatch: www.onekind.org/snarewatch
Its just not right... Atleast the indigenous people of the united States of America used every part of an animal an didn't waste anything. Where ever this place is or wherever these places are they need to be condemned.. Honestly..
Some years ago the local Cats Protection stopped re-homing cats to areas where they would have possible access to shooting estates as they learned that an adult cat going to a home near a shooting estate seemed to last about a month, if that! Sometimes an animal was found by a walker dead in a snare or in a stink pit. On at least one occasion, a cat made it home, but died of poisoning soon after, in spite of veterinary care! I remember the vet asked me to explain to a foreign lady living near an estate, who was distraught at the loss of her large ginger cat ,that, after both of us searched the roadside verges, and enquired of neighbours, it had most likely died on the estate as it was around the time the new pheasants and partridges were let out of their cages to roam about the woods - pre shooting! She was absolutely horrified and said she could not believe such a thing in this day and age!
I love your presentations!! Although I'm not 100% understand your words, but I just love Scottish!!! I've been to Crieff, Perthshire before, it was a lovely beautiful place!!❤️❤️❤️
Hares are incredible animals extremely smart and full of personality and emotions. There are many RU-vid channels showing this. I feel that hurting hares is worse than hurting humans.
Absolutely agree. Snares are cruelty of an horrific kind, inflicting terrible injuries and lingering, agonising death on any animal caught. They have no place in modern society. There is no problem to which they are a justifiable solution. Most of us love all wildlife, snares are used by a very few people compared to the wildlife loving population, yet their effect is disastrous, killing very large numbers of animals. This is supposed to be a democracy. Putting snare use to the vote would have a clear result. It's time to pass clear legislation in Scotland and all the UK with adequate penalties and leave this terrible practice in the past.
Your speech is silk, your voice like a call from the heavens, sweet and smooth. Thanks for sharing the Scots Lied with us-The only tongue that my English hearing ear can begin to grasp in itself.
Andrew O'Hagan said Burns created a place * where mice and men could share their woes and even extend comfort to each other in the teeth of unknowable fate. * 'A Night Out With Burns - The Greatest Poems' arranged and introduced by Andrew O'Hagan. Canongate.
Like the video and wanted to talk about a touchy subject. For almost most animals I disagree on number control but when it comes to foxes seems a difficult issue. Can't poison, can't shoot as both leads to injury and suffering....we all agree yeah? Which leaves traps and hunts.. If you take the stance that we do none of the above, then all other animals are on the menu....higher cost for meats, higher council taxes etc for the clean ups.. (Re grouse) I don't agree with shooting when it's a few foot in front of you
Fingers crossed that finally tests and experiments can come to an end. Nothing justifies the cruelty animals have to undergo. These innocent beings are tortured but what gives humans the right to do that? Absolutely nothing.
Hello Bob, I enjoyed the virtual wildlife walk so very much, thankyou. I adore all the Wildies you filmed. Noted you mentioned that foxes & magpies are persecuted more than others. So sad but true. I have fed foxes in the garden for 28yrs. And only 3yrs ago 4 magpies started visiting. I never see our foxes out in daylight so will not see what you did & filmed for us..the cheeky pie pulling foxies tail...🙂 just a wee tweak so thats ok. Felt sorry for the eel though! First creature I saved from human hands! Aged 5 or 6..my brother had caught by hand while swimming in a loch...i 'gently' whacked him on the head with a stick..until he put it back in the water.😉 I have shared with friends. Thank you all at ONEKIND..For all you do for our voiceless. 🐾🐾💜👍👌🤗xxxxxxx
Pity the so-called 'hunters' don't start hunting each other, preferably into extinction.....they can always put the hunted heads on their wall as a trophy, just like the heads of the innocent animals that they murder day after day (or throw them into pits, feed them to the dogs or just leave their carcasses to rot)
