Everytime I've played the witness, I always feel an oppresive force as if Johnathan Blow was leaning in over my shoulder barking into my ear when I misunderstood the rules of a puzzle. I have never been able to withstand this sensation long enough to finish the witness.
I’m like the biggest Super Mario fanboy, so I’ve been throughly enjoying your Super Mario tier list videos and this one is my favourite so far. Granted, SMB Wonder is one of my favourite in he series

We'll then, apparently this isn't the real taskmaster. Okok jokes aside. Wow, what an absolutely peak finale. I am so fucking impressed at everything, I haven't watched any other fan made taskmasters but I think this is up there. I'm so glad I found this actually. I have had some minor nitpicks but to be honest, the pros really outweigh the cons. Spicy was an amazing Taskmaster, he completely nailed that role, I can tell that he loves Taskmaster. Things like pinpointing stuff the contestants did to question their sanity, the starting message of the show, the "what have we learnt today". So much chutzpah. The cast was also so brilliant, I absolutely loved everyone in the end. Their chemistry works so well, there's so many funny moments. It's sad that this isn't a full 10 episodes but you either ran out of task ideas or the contestants just couldn't stand it anymore (or vise versa). Speaking of Tasks, they were so creative!!! I've said this before but I wasn't too keen on a Minecraft Taskmaster because I didn't think it would feel truly Taskmastery, I was wrong on so many levels. Instead of Minecraft being a limitation, it opened so many more doors to so many possibilities. (Honestly I don't know why I thought Minecraft would be a disadvantage really). Props to you, for coming up with so many fun tasks, I don't think there's a single bad task, even the potato one. The production in this has exceeded my expectations. Everything in this was made by someone who truly loves Taskmaster, the effort, oh my god the effort. I honestly think that any Taskmaster and Minecraft would genuinely enjoy this. In conclusion (it's like I'm writing an essay lol), this project has not only surpassed my expectation, it has shattered beyond it. I wasn't sure if this would feel Taskmaster but I feel right at home. I've loved everything. Amber, you are amazing. To end this I have some questions. 1. Were there any tie breaks recorded, just in case? If there were, what were they? 2. Who writes the introduction to each episode, do you and Spicy write your own separate lines? Or is it just you? 3. Were there any cut tasks? 4. What are some of your favourite tasks? (In the official taskmaster) 5. What are some of your favourite tasks to make? (In your Taskmaster) And finally the question everyone is asking. 7. Where the fuck is Alex Horne?
glad to see such a glowing review! so, to answer your questions: 1. there were 3 tie breaks recorded, and they were all fairly simple...but they might end up getting re-used if there are future series so, i'll keep them on the down-low 2. Spicy and I both wrote our own lines separately 3. There were a few, once again, some might get re-used or revamped to some extent because they were all cut for good reasons 4. In the official series...some of the real standouts for me are Series 13's "Answer Alex's phone call", Series 5's "Record the best POV footage" and Series 7's "Physically recreate a classic video game" 5. Favourite to make....in terms of actually setting up the task, "Save Amber and her friends from the traps" was probably the most involved, but I had a great time putting it together. In terms of editing though, "Film the best Pig POV Film" was a joy to organise the VTs for, out of all the tasks it was the one I rewatched the most 6. You skipped six so i'll answer a different question you asked. I went with 6 episodes because I felt like that was a good starting point, going from 'nothing' to '10 episodes' felt like a big investment for a fun project without being certain that it would work out well. Thankfully, it did anyway lmao 7. Basement.
Oh my god, I thought it couldn't be done but it got better. Starting with the prize task, I don't know if it's better than the previous one but I absolutely loved it. All of the tasks were absolutely brilliant, delightful, amazing *looks at dictionary* brilliant. Starting with the frame task, I'm glad to see that the cast have reached a new low ever since the leaf team task, I'm crying at how shit it was, Techno's one was so ominous 🗿. Spicy's signature gaping mouth and burning hair (and eyes) were also hilarious. Now the color task was also very nice, Kyoger was absolutely done dirty with the fake task but honestly that was such a joy to watch. It's so clever and evil, I thought the twist was the fact that Amber was hiding the task but no, the task was also a fake. Next is the pig task which I enjoyed a lot. Sky's absolutely shit film reminded me of Nish's absolutely shit Sudoku film when he was on the verge of actually winning. Kyoger's absolute confidence in his boring ass film reminded me of Guy William's (TMNZS1) absolute chutzpah in everything that he does. The live task is also a highlight, we actually get to see the whole stage! It creatively utilizes the whole area very well. I think my favourite moment was definitely when Amber was fucking with Kyoger for more than half an hour. To the point that Amber made the most evil laugh like she pushed a child off a bridge, into the river. In conclusion, peak episode, peak tasks, extremely creative. Can't wait for the finale. (Also just a question in case you fully read this, have you watched the *other* Minecraft Taskmaster? With a whopping 12 contestants made by Lambeau. I haven't watched it yet but I'm planning to after I finish this)
@@amber_okaythen i mean the premise of 12 contestants alr feels absurd because there's just less chances to truly "get to know" the contestants and I watched like the start of it and it didn't feel that... y'know
Only two other tier lists in this tier list? Clearly you forgot to rank all the enemies. ;p Wonder was a lot of fun. If they make another, I hope they do more with the bosses.
STUDIO MADNESS BEST TASKMASTER SONG LET'S GOOOOO. This episode was an absolute delight! Probably my favourite episode so far! All the tasks were delightful. The prize task was my favourite so far, I was crying with the glory hole postcard. The snow task had 2 contestants finding loopholes as I hoped, they weren't really as creative as something like "kicking the bottom out of a bin" or "Rhod tying up Alex" but a loophole is a loophole, also we get the iconic taskmaster rule break with the red carpet. The Amber task was also very enjoyable, I especially loved the videos, very funny, the task is reminiscent of the "buy a gift for the taskmaster, you have 10 weeks". The leaf team task was very interesting, I saw a lot of potential in it but the teams hilariously did a shit job, I wonder what it could've been if it was a solo task. The protect task was also fun, the contestants sort of all went with the same solution (but to be fair what else could you do?), Amber dying was nice. The stage task is also my favourite so far, reminds me of the monster drawing task! Saying this again, an absolutely delightful episode with peak tasks. Sad that there's only a few episodes left.
It's the 3rd episode and it's still not lacking in any way. I think the main thing that helps this work is the passion, I can tell that both you and Spicy are huge taskmaster fans that know their stuff, making it more enjoyable for me and other taskmaster nerds. I thought that the lack of a live audience would be a problem but the cast manages to still feel alive. The recorded tasks in this episode were nice, both the house task and surprise task were very entertaining to see how the contestants would interpret the task, especially when Cake and Kyoger both made up words and had to make shit up, a great laugh right there. The house task also had lots of great quotes from it. The stage task was also fun but I'm hoping for a more "active" task where it's not just mental stuff, but it being a team task was nice. I do have a bit to say about the potato task, I loved how the contestants got different prompts but also the task was kind of too vague, 4/5 contestants misinterpreted the clue which is pretty bad and also the arrow made it more confusing than helpful, the task felt like it wasn't tested, I love tasks where "the answer was right there" but this one you NEEEDED the clue, maybe it would've been better if the arrow pointed straight to the potato chest instead of another clue. Hoping for a moment where a contestant finds a loophole in the task, Richard Osman style. Good job Amber! This was absolutely delightful.
Yeah admittedly we like...didn't really test the tasks directly, but the Potato one was one where...i mean yeah, none of us behind the scenes considered that the phrase could be interpreted a different way. that's sort of just the curse of knowledge ig, it can be difficult to consider different interpretations of a phrase when you know exactly what the answer is meant to be. So yeah, a slight ~oops~ there.
Absolutely electric! I had doubts about this due to the limitations of Minecraft but you’ve managed to actually take advantage of Minecraft itself. I’m genuinely enjoying this so far, 2 episodes in. I also liked the nod to the Blind, Mute, Deaf task from series 2! How we laughed.
truthfully i just see them as separate from the early console Mario games, partially because i never got to play them when i was younger, but maybe someday..
my headcannon when i was a kid for world 6 ds, was you start with a rocky climb before reaching a small rainshadow environemtn in a desert, before crossing the rainshadow into the wetland and jungle, before returning to the mountain and reaching the icy peak before battling the tank mole at the summit, then jumping either into the clouds or rolling down the mountain to world 8
They could’ve made the tilesets better, but I can see the vision. Quicksand? Maybe, but I could see a mudslide or mud fitting better. A beach? Maybe, but again, a lake fits more. The forest and ice make enough sense though.
@@amber_okaythenthen yeah it’s definitely the throwable blocks. They’re white in the NES version and you can’t forget that All-Stars keeps all the mistranslations of the NES intact. I mean we still have “Clawglip” and the Ostro/Birdo mixup in the SMB2 ending in All-Stars…
I don’t hear barely anything about this game anymore it came and went. Nintendo tried to patch cool abilities for good level design and it just didn’t work but it was a fresh start after the new super Mario games I think the next 2d Mario game could be even better
Do this with the classic sonic games next. This is a good video and shows the importance of good level design and things added even early on that don’t seem like a big deal. The same reason why I just can’t get into Mario wonder that much there’s not much new other than abilities and powerups. The level design is good for less than half the game and it feels like a new super mario bros with a new look and *rebranding*
My sister's list would be a lot like yours. Not mine though. I like all the levels people hates. Water levels, Cheep Cheep Bridge levels, awkward moving levels... that's my jam. My sister used to hand the controller to me on those levels, so maybe that's why.
