Well deserved grades 🙌 They are a product of your excellent pre-sub skills…your meticulous nature is inspiring. Keep it up. I love to watch people work hard and succeed. Also, that ‘98 Kobe skybox premium is so damn tough 🔥
Thanks LV! I love that year of Skybox, something about the font & graphic design really does it for me. Super tough w/ the black bordered backs. Always appreciate your support & words of encouragement! 🙏
I have never bought any raw cards on COMC, but you seem to have success buying raw on their site and getting good grades. How do you go about determining which cards on their site are actually gradable? Like that 1993 Fleer Sharpshooter Jordan and 1995 Flair Center Spotlight Shaq you got PSA 10's on. How do you weed out the bad ones from the good ones? Do you buy only from certain sellers on there? Would love to see a video about how you buy raw cards on COMC, kind of like how you made a video 11 months ago about how you source raw cards on Ebay. Thanks!
@@MyrickWillard7 It’s honestly a crapshoot, the scans on COMC are not the best quality. I do my best not to buy anything w/ glaring flaws. I have a well trained eye for centering, which is something I can usually glean even from lower quality scans. It’s really not possible to fully assess a card until you have it in hand. Often a card looks clean in scans but has major surface issues in hand. It’s really just a numbers game. In my last COMC video I bought 386 cards & only sent 22% to PSA w/ another 7% going to SGC. To be fair, there were plenty of cards I rejected that were likely PSA 9’s but it doesn’t make financial sense to shoot for 9’s on most modern cards. I have a critical eye & if I don’t think a card is gem worthy I don’t grade it. That’s why my gem rates are relatively high (contrary to the belief I must know somebody at PSA 😂).
always appreciate your reveals and your eye for detail...curious if you have any superstitions when submitting to PSA? Order cards in any special way, try to keep orders to a certain number of cards or lower, etc? Also, do you use penny sleeves and Card Saver I's when submitting? Thx for your time
Thanks for watching! Great questions. I am a very detail oriented & habit-driven person. When I submit an order, I sort the cards alphabetically by year & set. I don't like sending in too many copies of a card & usually try to split them up into different orders (just an OCD thing). While I've sent in a few 100+ card orders, I tend to prefer the 50-75 card sweet spot. The super large orders make me nervous because you run the risk of getting a hardass for a grader. I use a fresh penny sleeve & Card Saver II (Cardboard Gold brand).
Awesome submission. Definitely a great gem rate considering the type of cards. Love that MJ Team MVP card, one of my faves from back in the day. Lots of nice 90’s hits in this order 👏🏽
@@3pt-cards Much appreciated! Yeah I’m on the fence about whether to keep that Team MVPs MJ, definitely a nostalgic card for me. Keeping the Sharpshooters for sure tho!
I'm curious to see how these do on the secondary. Seems like SGC is way more lenient to gain new customers but if the secondary works, than you're on to something!
@@wayneburbrink1215 I feel like PSA has tightened up on front centering, I don’t even bother w/ anything worse than 60/40. I do think PSA is way more lenient on back centering though. It’s interesting how each company has their own nuance w/ grading. It’s nice to have options.
@@pdxwax long ago i did mail order and bought bgs psa sgc i actually went to bgs sgc only cause i always found flaws with 9’s and 10’s i did buy a few hundred graded cards im so glad i held on to my psa cards only cause they went crazy in 2021i mean jordan psa 9 doing 45-60 grand i paid like 1200 for 9’s in the early 2000’s now i do have some super nice psa cards but long ago i think they were more forgiving, i might send a order to psa to check how strict they are now but 10’s should not stains on the back or terrible centering thats why some 10’a go for massive money and some wont sell for a long time until the buyer is lazy and dosnt check the card over lol just a thought from a old school collector all companies have there good’s and bad’s
@@wayneburbrink1215 That’s awesome! Congrats on cashing in during the boom. I definitely think PSA has tightened up. I don’t have experience w/ BGS other than cracking them (true gems are usually pretty successful when crossing over). I think the sentiment is that SGC is more forgiving on modern cards & I think my results support that, but I don’t want to speak in concrete terms based on one order.
Love all the goat’s! And no grade below a mint 9 🔥 All the cards had great eye appeal. I think it was very smart using SGC for these particular cards. Let me know how they sell for ya 👍
@@littlevictoriessportscards197 Thanks LV, definitely interested to see how these perform resell-wise. The turnaround time was incredible, so it’d be nice to have a viable option for cards that aren’t quite PSA 10 worthy.
Awesome set of cards. Good luck on this order! Really looking forward to seeing the results. I want to see you ace that Shaq Ultra All-Rookie. One of my all-time favorite cards and it commands a premium in a 10.
Heck of a lot pickup from COMC! Don’t think I could go lookup a guy and find something nice after seeing this 🤩 look forward to some grading results ; tons of sp. that flair Charles Woodson may have pulled at me the most lol
30% gradable from COMC is pretty respectable 👌 You and I have very similar taste in cards. I’m really excited for the results already 😃 Awesome to hear you like those ‘Fast Track’ inserts too. And that Larry Allen is clean, love it! Good luck…I’m pulling for ya for sure 🤙
Thanks LV! Learned a lot from you! Definitely happy w/ 30% especially w/ all the 90s stuff I took a chance on. Was so stoked on that Larry Allen, hopefully it gets the grade it deserves.
Yep definitely the newer slabs. I’ve had a little practice w/ them & it’s definitely a more nuanced process to crack but still doable. I’ll have to include that in a future video
I didn’t like this grader for ya 😬 Knowing you and your pre-sub skills, those 8’s should have been 9’s, and probably should have had 5-10 more gems. I always love the players you submit, and your reveal style. Cheers 🍻 LV
I thought they were pretty stingy too! Not mad about the gem rate but I kinda felt like they went into it hellbent on handing out some 8’s. All good, win some lose some, long as we win more!
really agree with your selection as far as who you are grading...for the most part, super stars of their generations or at least all-pro type players....I see way too many reveals where I ask myself why someone is submitting a lot of the cards they do....stick with the stars and you have so much better chance of coming out ahead...
Definitely a sound way to mitigate the volatility of the market. I understand why people play the speculation game & I still dip my toe in that strategy, but I honestly have more fun grading established stars/future HOFers. Appreciate your insight!
first card out of the gate, that Yadi is a blazer, but I wonder if the grader saw more space on the bottom than at the top...the top matches the sides, but I am not sure if the top is supposed to be the same as the sides or same as the bottom (which it isn't)...looking forward to the rest of the cards --- hah, and having said that, the 2nd card (Cracker Jack) got a 10 and it has the same type of situation, so who knows...
Yeah very could be centering, but dang it’s probably the nicest black border bowman I’ve seen. The 9 to 10 ratio is 10 to 1 tho, so they are pretty stingy on that particular card. The eye appeal was notable in my opinion tho. Thanks for watching!
Thank you! I try to only send cards that I think can gem (unless it makes financial sense to shoot for a 9). I have a good bit of experience grading, so I just try to be strict & trust my eye.
Turnaround was approximately a month, which has been the average for my last 3-4 orders. I think the approximation is conservative to cover their butts in case an order does take longer than usual.
Man I want to be a stay at home Dad lol. I wish I could stay home and play with my cards all day. My wife won’t allow it though. Hope you enjoy the temporary break and get to spend time with your family. Great reveal as always.
Haha, yeah my 15 month old keeps me pretty busy during the day but as soon as she's down for a nap it's eBay/COMC time. Definitely fortunate to be in the position to do so for sure.
Good luck! Definitely lots of Kobes you can pick up pretty cheap that do well in a 10 slab. LeBron stuff is really affordable considering he’s probably top 2 all time
I think you went perfect gem on the football! Incredible results as usual. Loved seeing all the Bron & Kobe. And loved that Iverson chrome gem 👌 Just a heads up…you might want to switch the text on your thumbnail pic…it says ‘preview’ should be ‘reveal’…might drive a little more traffic to ya 🤙
Good lookin’ out on the thumbnail! Forgot to change the title in my template. Was stoked about that Iverson for sure, would love to pick up the refractor of that card.
