The song is just as sad as the building looks on the inside. Also it's about dying in poverty. I'm wondering if this is supposed to be a charming way to frame the "legendary" club house of the working class...
The dark sombre feelings the building evokes is designed to be a concrete marker for us to remember the void created by the systematic murder of six million people. The we utter the phrase, "never forget" the purpose of this architectural poem is to give us a reason to remember; an indelible marker that will soften with time.
Hi, I'm working in a project at college which is basically this pavilion and we need the dimensions to do a scal model. Could you please write me back explaning the dimensions? Thanks
El video es muy interesante. Ahora la música es una mierda, tuve que interrumpir la visualización porque ya solo que no me permitía concentrarme, sino que me estaba martirizando. Que pena una obra tan genial mostrada por gente con tan pocas luces.
Yeah btw I want to ask what you think of Bijmer ArenA stadium, is there any woa factor there? I am not an architecture student or anything but feel interested a bit. And I like the music too! I have heard of randomly on RU-vid, via some playlists...
Oh, look - after I reported this phenomenon to RU-vid as scam/fraud, look at the likes v dislikes now! Thirty minutes ago, the likes amounted to a THOUSAND + - now they amount only to 11. What's going on here? It's exactly the same with ALL of the other vids about this carbuncle of a building - check them out via a YT search "Scottish Parliament Building". One of them has only 75 views, but was "liked" by 1,800 + people. Fishy? You bet! I took screenshots BTW.
Why do the "Likes" for this modestly-viewed video increase at a highly unlikely rate over mere minutes? I've noticed this about other vids about this grotesque building. Something fishy - perhaps a bot?
Looks like the headquarters of some secret police... heck, the MI6 building is a hundred times more appealing - and that's an irony. And if you are promoting a building, even one as ugly in so many ways as this, please make an effort to get the focus right! And what is this MUSACK? An advert for an IKEA product? That's fitting: a "flat-pack" building is what it is.
It's truly artless, vile, and does not have the characteristics to stand the test of time because it's faddish. Were the people of Scotland, even residents of Edinburgh, consulted, as in a competition such as the UK used to have for important public buildings?
Of course we were not. The public perception of it is largely that it's an absolute disgrace, and people were angry that so much of the taxpayer's money went towards such an abomination. Actually, I have never met a single person who likes the thing.
How depressing. I'm amazed that there's so little visible outrage about it on here. BTW, did you notice the fraudulent up-voting for this vid earlier? From 1,000 +, this vid now has 11 likes, after I brought that abuse to RU-vid's notice. I really can't stand that kind of naked dishonesty. And, more importantly, who is behind it?
It is not only by Ricardo Bofill, it is a result of a long work and research by i team composed by persons comment from differents disciplines, like Anna Bofill, Manuel Nuñez, Peter Hotchkindson, Ramón Collado, Xavier Montsalvatge, Dolors Rocamora, Serena Vergano etc.etc.
To begin with, congratulations to this video. Second, and this is mostly to Will Guso, one should never try to nail down what came first and what was second, when talking about Scharoun's organic architecture. Society was always one of Scharoun's main concerns, as so was the functionality of the building, both for the spectators and the musicians. It is a chicken and an egg question - what came first? Scharoun had ranks and terraces in the hall - but the shape was given to them in close collaboration with the acoustics planner, professor Cramer. The "clouds" are also his and were added later in design process. Who is to blame? And who to praise? And why, indeed, does one have to blame and praise? Just enjoy the masterpiece of many an art!
hey thanks fr d video..Can u pls share the plans of this.. i need to understand circulation and placement of escalators/lifts for my thesis case study..
