I don't know why Trimble hasn't made more promotion of this, I just learnt from your video that this was possible and is a really useful tool for collaboration
I have the latest version of Powerpoint and Sketchup 2022, but i can't import a sketchup files directly. it gives me this error "an error accured while importing..." however i can export .glb but it's low quality and colours are off! any idea?
Hi, so this feature was temporarily disabled, back in June 2023, but from what I can see, it still hasn't been reactivated... :( insider.microsoft365.com/en-us/blog/add-sketchup-files-to-office-creations

I paid for the software on Friday. It is now Monday. I looked up the support, and it says that it will take two business days to process an education license. Why? This means it will be five days after I pay the money. I have never had software be that slow to activate. I have already started to draw up what I wanted to work on in other software. It should be made clear in the purchase process that you will take a long time to process the Education Licenses.
Hi Jason, Thanks for your patience and understanding. As stated in our website: help.sketchupaustralia.com.au/hc/en-us/articles/5302287395983-Where-is-my-licence-subscription- Please allow up to 2 business days for us to set-up your Edu subscription. Regards SketchUp Australia Team
Hi..I'm looking at getting SketchUp..as one of a few things I'm going to want to use strait away ...I just got an iPad air 5th gen.. I live in Australia...what do I need to know...is it here? ..is my device good enough to use ?..thanks
Let us know how you have been using groups and components with SketchUp? The biggest thing we hear from people who struggle with SketchUp is that they are not using groups and components. This is the key to success with SketchUp! Let us know how you use groups and components, of if you have any questions.
That was very helpful, thank you!!! It's difficult to get light and shadows in what should be a lit area without doing the whole rendering thing... so this will be really useful, thanks!!
This is so much easier than some of the other work arounds I've seen. There is one issue with this method though. If you're attempting multi-level solar access diagrams, there doesn't seem to be a way to make sure the camera is in the same alignment for each level. You have to go into orthogonal view to position the camera for the next level and it changes the view positioning every time. Saving views and trying to access previous view alignments doesn't work either. If you have a solution for this i would love to hear it!
Hi Sophia, I'm glad you found this helpful. That's an excellent question. I've just spent a few minutes trying to figure out an easy solution, but I've come up with nothing useful so far. I'm going to post this question to the SketchUp community forum, maybe someone there can help us. forums.sketchup.com/t/consistent-lateral-camera-location-when-using-position-camera-tool-to-produce-shadow-diagrams/204474
No worries at all. I've noticed Trimble have been slowly improving TC Visualizer over the last few years and in my opinion it's now reached the point where its ease of use and quality of output makes it worth using for a range of applications, particularly for early customer engagement and feedback. Besides, since it comes "free" with SketchUp Pro, why not just give it a go. I'm excited to see how far Trimble progresses with this.
@@sketchupaustralia55 I hope they can improve the software to include artificial lighting simulation. But I do agree, it's free so why not give it a go 😀
So glad you found it helpful! (sometimes I wonder haha) Would be super keen to hear you ideas for future videos anytime: help.sketchupaustralia.com.au/hc/en-us/requests/new
Hi, I use FredoCorner for mass application of semi-dynamic fillets and bevels on edges and corners. It's way more powerful than the very simple modification shown in this video and I highly recommend it. Let me know how you go. sketchucation.com/plugin/2120-fredocorner
Hi Matt, if you're still having issues, you should reach out to your local SketchUp partner for technical support. For example, if you bought from us (SketchUp Australia) you can submit your enquiry here: help.sketchupaustralia.com.au/hc/en-us/requests/new
Hi Sketchup Australia, I'm working also with scan essentials, but whem i'm doing the clipping box from a sketchup selection or from cloud selection the cloud dissapears even having it visible. if you could help me with this problem please, I would really appreciate it. Thank you so much!!
Hi Sof, I'm guessing maybe the sequence of events is slightly off, could you please try: 1) Model a SketchUp box, (around the area you want to clip, this can be modified later) 2) Select it the box, (You can group it too if you want to avoid geometry cross-contamination) 3) Activate the "clipping box from SketchUp selection" tool. If that's not helping, I think we will need to have a chat about your process, and I'll have to look at your model to understand what the issue is. If you're a SketchUp Australia customer we provide support via: help.sketchupaustralia.com.au/hc/en-us/requests/new
Hi everyone ! My name is Phu and I’m from VietNam.Now I’m working in Japan. I have a question about make 3D Model by SketchUp based on Trimble Scan Laser. I’m drawing 3D Contrustion Model in SketchUp using Trimble point cloud. The project I’m working onis quite so large,so the number of points is very dense, and I can’t pick point cloud. I have used “Create Clipping Box from Cloud selection” but then selection showing the point cloud points will be dimmed, and I can’t draw it. Can you help me to solve this problem? Thank you very much! Have a good day!
Hi Phu, actually SketchUp's native Sections also apply to Point Clouds (as long as the Section isn't within a group or component), so you may find it easier to use a normal SketchUp Section, as opposed to a TSE Clipping Box . When using TSE's Clipping Boxes, you might want to test some of the alternative Point Cloud visibility settings, and also check that your tags (new ones will be automatically created by TSE) are active/inactive at the correct time. Hopefully that helps. There are quite a few other things you could try, but I'd probably need to know more about what you're trying to acheive.
How should one approach thermal bridging with Sefaira? does the software account for it or should the modeler apply correction factors to their inputs?
Hi Kamyar, Sefaira is optimised to provide performance feedback during the concepting/massing/early stages of a project, because of this, structural/material details will not have been determined yet and consequently will not be modelled into the simple single surface Sefaira model. Therefore, correction factors for thermal bridging should be applied. Because of Sefaira's focus on early design stage performance feedback, it provides value by allowing building designers to rapidly experiment with different massing, material, shading, HVAC and more "settings" to acheive a desired performance outcome.
Hi Neve, Sorry for the delayed reply. I think what you're looking for is the SketchUp Preferences window. Where you'll find this window depends on whether you're working from a Mac or a PC, so please check out this Learn/Help article as it answers both situations far more clearly than I can (here). help.sketchup.com/en/sketchup/customizing-sketchup I should note, because you've purchase your SketchUp Pro subscription from Buildingpoint Australia you're entitled to Premium Australian based SketchUp technical support. To access this, please go to help.sketchupaustralia.com.au/hc/en-us, click the "Submit a Request" button and let us know how we can help. The most appropriate team member will respond to your enquiry as soon as they are able.
Hi, Sefaira is only accessible via a SketchUp Studio Subscription, so it's very unlikely you'll be able to use Sefaira with SketchUp 2018. That being said, you can access a free 30-day trial of SketchUp Studio (and Sefaira) from here, www.sketchupaustralia.com.au/sketchup-free-trial/. It's worth noting that SketchUp 2021 has just been launched, so it's worth giving the trial a go just for that! Once you've started the 30-day trial, you'll want to check out Sefaira's Getting Started guide here support.sefaira.com/hc/en-us/sections/200525719-Getting-Started. I hope that helps.
That's right! Sefaira can make the greatest positive contribution to building performance when used at the very start of any building design process, because it provides building designers with relatively quick and easy performance feedback that will impact big decisions like massing, orientation, layout, materiality, fenestration and HVAC configuration. To be able to achieve this, in many cases Sefaira emphasises speed and simplicity over a full detail analysis (which would have to be done at the end of the design process after everything has already been locked in), one such example being the "thin wall" modelling. You can watch Sefaira's training videos at: support.sefaira.com/hc/en-us/articles/115001361571-Section-4-Start-Modeling-for-Building-Analysis-
Ooops, sorry I missed your message. There's quite a bit of info about how to set up your geometry and how the simulation work here support.sefaira.com/hc/en-us. If you have more questions, feel free to drop us a line via our support portal help.sketchupaustralia.com.au/hc/en-us.
