Wouldn‘t have used a C in the second part. Other than that this is a nice brass quintet, even though I don‘t remember a Da Capo al fine but that might be personal experience…
I know that's the original rhythm, however I actually preferred it like this based on a recording I heard, and thought it would also lend itself to helping keep the quintet together due to it giving clearer beats in the bar, however if you ever do play this obviously feel free to play as a quintuplet!
Little jig? This one of the most played marches composed by the Tsjech composer Julius Fucik, who composed not only marches. Look around on the internet for it and you'll find out it is a great piece composed for a full orchestra. Btw, what you hear in this clip doesn't do justice at all to this work.
This work was written for piano by the composer. Later that piano work was transcribed for orchestra by Ravel, Stokowski, and others. Even later, still, that piano work was arranged for symphonic brass by Howarth. A brass quintet seems a natural progression but hard on the old chops.
@@edwardfall7034HI Edward, I'm really enjoying looking at your arrangements. Keep up the good work. Back in the 80s, I was in a brass quintet that toured with Pictures in our repertoire. With correct and efficient playing technique, plus a few judicious minor redistributions of parts, it was very playable. Great composition! Love the little melodic interplays in the busier sections. Also just that one triplet in bar 52... That one hit just right! I wonder, what do you mean by "8va (optional)"? Why not just include it or exclufe it from the score?
Thanks! My aim with making it optional was to make it more accessible for players of different abilities; it is quite fast and high so players can decide to play up or down the octave without changing the overall piece too much
Just like in real life, the trumpet in MuseScore is louder than other instruments. Sometimes you need to reduce its volume to get the balance sounding good.
It's true, I also find the French Horn is always quieter than the dynamic written compared to the trumpet/trombone, but I have kept it as it is as the dynamics are for the sake of real life performance as opposed to trying to make the midi instruments sound perfect!
Cecilia, that's because there is no "first trumpet". This sounds horrible, like played on one of the first tiny toy pianos that kids play with. Maybe even worse, like if Biden was back in the circus. I got about 14 bars and had to stop.
It is indeed a very, very impressive "endless melodic" (quotation borrowed from Richard Wagner) passage of one of my most favorite musical works written at all. But more and more the apotheosis of Mahler's Third I like to add to my faves of such eternal and evergreen musical gems. 💎🙏🎵
Neat arrangement, could use some more depth to the chords, and instead of a euphonium and trumpet, I would use a tuba and a flugelhorn or mellophone/ horn
