I shoot professionally with a Canon R6 but have wanted a more travel-friendly (and fun!) camera to take on family trips to get scenic photos and great photos of my kids. I've always wanted a Fuji and just bought the XT-5 new and am waiting on the preowned 35mm 1.4 lens I bought... but I'm wondering if I should have instead gone with an X-T30ii! Mostly concerned with size between the two. Would love your thoughts!
Very nice review! Thanks! I am looking for a travel/holiday camera and am considering the Fujifilm options (being an analog film hobbyist for some time). The Leica Q2 came to mind, but the $$$ threw me off... X-T30 MkII and the new X-T50 are looking to be the best options (don't want to be stuck with one lens only). What is your opinion? Go with the latest model, or get the cheaper and save money for lens? Thanks in advance!
you are such a nice person and your pics are amazing! : ) My question, I own the XS10 and use the 18-55mm f/2,8-4 R mainly for video, do you think I will get a clear difference with the XF 16-55mm F2.8 R? What lens did you use mainly for your videos? best!
Hello, I discovered Fujifilim with the XS-10, oh what a privilege 😊 It was in the middle of CoronaCircus and I was afraid that they would block the electronics market so I bought 9 Patona Platinum batteries + chargers (ex-cellent, a little better than the original battery). I more recently dis-covered film simulation bracketing. At this stage, we enter into magic and I don't see how to explain such a creative thing to someone who doesn't even know black & white simulation in the infrared spectrum (red filter). If you add the possibility of exposing (by scanning) Instax (=Polaroid) photos, you become a magician to the delight of children 😉 My only regret that makes me fantasize about the GFX100 II is that it there is no extra fine JPEG (unfortunately I don't think so on the XS-20 either). The size and wealth of information on extra fine JPEGs, including bracketing, of the GFX100II is beyond imaginable! I think that selling your XS-10 (even if I had the GFX) would still be as indecent as it is senseless. Because it’s only worth peanuts! Imagine that your current camera breaks down or you want to have 2 cameras, one with special optics, all this is possible with an XS-10 on your belt. For waterproofing, I prefer to add a transparent plastic that I cut and tinker with even for a tropicalized body + lens, you must always avoid water directly on it. This is more of a guarantee in the event of prolonged high humidity. Optical level, I settled for the 18-80, well stabilized and frankly stunning in video. But I am going to acquire the Viltrox XF AF 75mm 1.2 which has a stunning bokeh. In optics, the only thing I have no tolerance for is chromatic aberration. Thanks to Fujiflim & Instax (sustainable photos) for existing!
My 35mm 1.4 is a big part of the reason for me, not to leave Fuji. Just shot our vacation, Sicily in spring, and the pictures were gorgeous. The lens did it's job very well in all kinds of challenging situations. So good
Great video. I think you have persuaded me. You are the first person to say it’s weather sealed. I will trust your advice particularly with the photo of it in the rain.
Thanks for dropping by, from what others have said it might not be fully weather sealed apparently but it definitely has the rubber gasket at the lens mount and you've now seen the conditions I've had it in! I do believe the Fuji 16-55 red badge will be much better sealed but that is a very expensive and very large lens in comparison!
Hi can you help decide if i should go for the A6700 or XS20 both with a sigma 18 50 lens? i am going to travel and need a camera with ibis for video handheld. i have an XT20 that i will be selling with the 35mm F2, the only thing i will miss is the SOOC film recipes i'm not confident to go with the XS20 because of the worse autofocus that fuji still don't want to fix after all these updates and tracking the A6700 has weather resistance
Honestly go to a store and pick them both up, the XS20 has much better focus than even my XT4 but I use my XT4 for travel and paid work without issue so if you REALLY need the best focus and weather sealing then go for the A6700 but in terms of comfort - I've handled both, the XS20 wins every day. My friend has the A6700 with the sigma and is very happy with it!
I already owned the Pro 2 , but when the XT30 came out, the price of the XT20 dropped significantly to $500. Keep an eye on the price of the XT30 if the XT50 is announced soon. There might be a price drop on the XT30.
I’ve had my X-T30 for 4 or 5 years. It’s a great little camera and I’ve had all kinds of fun with it - everything from street to astro photography. I have small hands and I’ve got a bit of arthritis so I really like the small size and that it’s lightweight. I’ve been contemplating whether I’ll get the X-T50 when it’s released this coming week. I’m going to be in Sydney so hope to get to see one IRL. But the more news I hear about the new camera the more I think I don’t need to upgrade, and your delightful review really makes me think I’ll stick with my X-T30
Thx for the video. I feel a bit torn with this camera. I have had the x-e2, x-t2, but wanted better AF. I was looking for a x-t3, but got a crazy good deal on the x-t30, so I jumped on it. The AF and IQ is great. But I just have a difficult time loving it. I guess that the issues for me are: EVF too small, compared to the x-t2, I really miss the ISO dial, sure, the back command dial is programmed for ISO, but somehow it does not feel the same. The body also does not feel as robust... and the funny part is that I don't feel the same negativity towards my x-e3 (same size, small evf and even less dials) - well, let's see. Maybe I can learn to love the x-t30 some day
Thanks for this review! I’m not sure if I’ll get the XT30 or the XT4 (bc of IBIS and weather resistance), but given the difference in price I might just go for this one!
Still going strong, still used daily! Trust me, I was worried about it too but it does literally live on a headphone hanger 100% of the time when not in use!
@@FeralGinger Cool mate, oddly not a point covered by many. I have seen one review over his 9 year old pair and other than dust and fading on the pads everything was intact.
This is my dream camera! No full frame, no XT5... I want it so bad but I would have to sell all my gear and invest like $1000 usd to get a similar kit that I currently have with Sony apsc
Oh ging. I found you with your xpro1 video. It was my first Fujifilm. But it's been broken for some time now. Been a paper wait. But now the cost of fixing is making sense. Ride or die you said? Omg!😂 Looking forward to seeing more of your show.
Haha yeah trust me I miss it but the performance just isn't there in comparison to my X-T4, still a beautiful camera though. On the flip side I'm now rocking another similar age digital camera! Vid coming soon! Thanks for returning and calling me out on the ride or die 🤣🤣🤣
Currently torn between the XT30 ii and the XS20 myself. I've only used a camera for photography up until now (X-T100) but want to explore video for RU-vid and for the handful of times I've attempted to use my current camera, it sucks. It's just not geared up for it. So it's time to upgrade.
I have the X-T10, it's a fabulous wee thing. Couple of months ago I got a TTArtisan 25 f2 manual focus lens to try as an experiment, it hasn't been off the camera yet.
X-T30 Mk 1 Gang checking in. Had this camera since 2020. I moved from full frame Nikon because of portability and wanting to get away from post processing. The X-T30 had everything I wanted and I was astonished at the time for the price. It really has so many little features that I love that are being phased out on newer Fuji cameras like you mentioned. The dials, my goodness. Exactly as you say, best on a Fuji camera. 4 years later, I am still extremely happy with the camera. Classic Negative would be nice and oh so wish it would get added via firmware update, but I have been fine without it from the beginning. When switching, I had no need for video and I don't think I have ever really used a tilt screen on a camera so they were not big factors for me. I got mine with a 35mm F/2 and its been on it ever since. No need for anything else. Wonderful everyday camera.
Hey thanks for dropping by, honestly I shoot in Raw a lot and mainly aperture priority with auto iso a lot of the time and each image is usually processed separately! Hope this helps!
Really great video! I’m currently in the market for a camera to get back into my photography and upgrade from my phone! Out of interest, how would you say the XT30 stacks up as a casual street/travel companion? Cheers!
Appreciate you taking the time to watch and comment. It's smaller in most dimensions than the X100, just not as "pocketable". Honestly it's a fantastic all round camera and perfect for travel due to the small weight/size! Hope this helps!
Hey thanks for dropping by. In UK I've been stung by a few of the "popular" camera stores recently so I tend to only buy used gear through Park Cameras and they have been fantastic, not sponsored, just appreciate good service.
Excellent video. Just get out and do it! I want to get back into photography after a lapse of many years. Got to get a little xt30 or xt5 as I'm old school 35mm. Deeply regret parting with my old Pentax mx. Fuji's just seem perfect spec in every way for me especially like the ability to use old fuji film specs and the idea of developing film recipes sounds amazing as I progress. As an ex match angler and now fly fisherman you learn so much from just getting out there. A great connection there. Look forward to your next video.
If you're from a film shooting background - as I am - you definitely won't be let down by either of those choices, I would recommend handling them both in person first though as the ergonomics may decide for you! Some of the film recipes do a fantastic job of giving you that feeling! Thanks for dropping by and supporting the channel!
Thanks for dropping by, still use it daily and I am VERY happy to report they still look and feel EXCELLENT still surprisingly textured (I was expecting them to get a bit more shiny given how much I game!)
@@FeralGinger it's so crazy to think that "clones" have come this far - I even own some caps' from Steelseries and Keychron which didn't last that long (in terms of feel). Thanks so much for replying to such an old vid my guy!
I have always overlooked this t-x0 series, until I got in my hand the xt30: it is incredibly well built, and Intotally agree on the dial. The only con for me is the the same little evf of the e series; other than that, I am considering it as my second camera ❤
that's completely fair regarding the EVF - the one on my XT4 is CONSIDERABLY better but to be fair, it's still plenty good enough for me! Thanks for taking the time to watch and comment!
