Konnichiwa! Are you a retro gaming fan? Then this channel is for you. Hi, I’m Retro Gamer Boy and I’m a games developer and I’ve worked for companies like PlayStation, Xbox and Ubisoft. Crafting some big hit titles, some of which are now considered retro games😊 But at my core I’m a retro gaming fan like you.
Every week you can watch unique videos about my special retro gaming collection. It has some amazing pieces in it that I’ve picked up from working with LEGENDS of the games industry. We will also take a look at some of the best retro games and retro gaming consoles ever made. So join me as we get our retro game on!
I remember hating Altered Beast 😅 I don't know why people seem to enjoy it. Thought it was awful when I was a kid, then randomly played it not long ago and thought it was awful then too 😅
Great list. I would add at least Gargoyles, Pocahontas, Vectorman, Vectorman 2, Ranger X, Alien Soldier, Shinobi III, Gunstar Heroes, Batman & Robin, Contra Hard Corps, Greatest Heavyweights, Lost World, Panorama Cotton, Aladdin, Streets of Rage 3, Paprium, Astebros., Garfield, Red Zone, Monster World IV, Strider and Quackshot
I’ve got seriously mixed feelings after completing the newest demo (where you can now run). I love the setting, the music etc but the combat just feels massively frustrating. If you watch mikes video where he just gets mobbed by the chickens and dies… this is pretty much how the rest of the demo plays out. The section after this is more chickens, plus the shadow enemies and others with bows. They all just swarm you while you stand there going ‘pop, pop, pop’, with your health being eaten away. Yeah it’s do-able if you move slowly, then run back and kill them a couple at a time, but it’s just feels like a chore, and isn’t much fun. I dunno what they can do to fix that tho with the combat system designed the way it is? Your firing speed being based on a stat that you have to level up is probably what’s the killer. If you could shoot faster maybe the combat would feel less frustrating. It’s a shame really as I was ready to preorder based on the footage, but after playing it, I think it’s a hard pass from me.
This is an Action RPG, as you evolve your character and you adquire new abilities, the game-play changes. Also, if you grind and farm, you are god, you can become unstoppable. 100% RPG spirit.
@@kaimagazine8221yeah I totally get that, I love RPGs and I think the game has amazing potential. I just think the early combat sections need tuning/balancing a bit to make them less frustrating. I came away from the demo thinking ‘I can’t do 20-30 hours of that’. That’s just my opinion though. I think you have a good game, but it could be an astounding game with some fine tuning.
I would honestly rather see retro game releases stick with the homebrew / free scene. Where the games are made out of developer's love for the platforms. Just check out Hayato's Journey, for the Genesis/MD. It's an excellent game, and 100% free (for the rom), and the dev didn't ask for a penny. There were some other incredible releases too, as well as others in the works: such as, Final Fight MD, The Simpsons, Castlevania Symphony of the Night, Castlevania IV, RoboCop, and much more!
Hey Mike, Does this game use the Pulfrich Effect? Basically you wear a set of glasses one with a dark lens and another with a standard lens (no darkening) and it creates a 3d effect. The show "The Botz Master" from the same time period and was also a french Cartoon show that was awesome by the way, Used the same effect.
For me at least the beginning is a mix of Snatcher and Killer 7. Those first enemies is kinda like Hevenly Smiles from Killer 7. Overall the game looks really decent, I'm definitely interested.
So bummed to hear that this happens, especially to those who are just trying to keep their passion for reteo gaming alive in new and unique ways. 😢 Really hoping an experience like this doesn't deter gamers from supporting developers when possible.
I used to back games on Kickstarter in the past such as Mighty nº9 and Bloodstained, but both had issues with cancellations and delays. I don't think Kickstarter is reliable at all.
Good thing you mentioned Watermelon. I remember they got all the praise for the first one they released in 2010 ''Pier Solar'' but the second one ''Paprium'' that scamming company just kept everybody's money and stopped mailing out copies of the game. No offence to anyone here but I would never back any project on Kickstarter.
Are there people who did not get Paprium? I backed it and got mine. It took a few years but I did get my copy of the game and it is amazing. I thought they were all shipped out.
@@malcolmar No, they haven't all shipped out at all. As the years went on, they took longer and longer to ship until they just ceased altogether. I never ordered the game but there are a few videos of Watermelon's updates from over the years on RU-vid still floating around and reading the comments on those videos from people who are still waiting for their order. SegalordX backed it and he never got his copy, that's why he won't review the game or talk about it on his channel. I'd say Watermelon spent everybody's money on themselves and just made up some bullshit excuse as to why they couldn't afford to mail out everybodys order. As Retro Gamer Boy said at the end of this video, that unfortunately there are some bad eggs in the carton that decide to go rogue in the industry and keep everybody's money and not ship the game out to those that ordered it. That game Paprium came out in 2017, it was ordered far back as early as 2014/2015 and it's 2024 and Watermelon still haven't shipped out all orders.
@@Oysterblade84 Wow. That is just garbage. Thanks for the update. It has been a few years but I hope everyone who paid money for Paprium either gets their game or their money back.
Thanks Mike for the document. I filled it out and submitted it. There are only 433 backers for Cyber Mission and I hope Kickstarter takes us seriously for refund purposes.
