@@DarthOtakuable yeah i mean their surges are seriously strong but if their all in the bottom its gonna suck . His last outing with them was very much at the other side of the spectrum at least.
Complete beginner here, a couple of questions. 1. My set (Wintermaw) has 9 objective numbered objective tokens but the manual says to only use 1-5 with nothing indicating a use for the other four numbered ones. Am I overlooking something or misunderstanding? 2. In this video it appears you've placed some environmental/decorative pieces around the edges of the board. Do these have any effect on gameplay?
@@CaitlynZ Of course! 1) the 1-5 are the ones used in the 2 player mode. The others are only used in 3 or 4 player mode so you're doing it right! 2) no they do not! They are only placed in incomplete hexes or outside the board and those do not have a gameplay effect! Hope that helps.
@@criticalfocuschannel Thanks! What would be the appropriate name for these pieces in case I'd like to add them to my collection? I really enjoy the extra character it adds to the board!
@@criticalfocuschannel Bummer about them not being in production but I'll keep an eye out. Thanks again! My partner and I are both completely new to Warhammer/AoS/tabletop gaming in general and bought Wintermaw on a whim. Playing our first game the other night felt pretty overwhelming but watching this has helped clear up quite a bit.
@@CaitlynZ tougher to Come in to the game now with more reactions, keywords and overall more complexity but good on you for taking the leap! Its an awesome format for a couple aswell. And Im happy to help!

Just wanted to say that I always look forward to your underworlds videos! What’s your favourite warband to play? I love the Wurmspat myself, as I started out with them.
Thanks mate! That means alot to hear =) Oh, I think right now probably Hexbanes and Gryselles. I really like the kinda midsized glass cannon mobile warbands with a good sideorder if neat tricks and combos. Wurmspat is an awesome wb as well, both model wise and lore wise. I used them today in a aos battle vs OBR. Sadly they died to a nasty cavalry charge 😢
Gotta say I'm in the same boat, love the 2 Underworlds vids in the same week! My fav is probably blackpowders, so very nice to see them in the spotlight despite their absolute terrible rival deck...what other decks would you combine them with for nemesis? I hear they're pretty tough to pair but beast bound didn't do too bad
Correction @03:42 I can actually still do the phase ink reaction since the card says stagger "up to" 1 visible enemy fighter. In any case phasing there would not have helped me much if at all.
I'm not so sure about running the domain dependant cards especially the +1 Dice upgrade. There's only one domain that persists (puncturing ice shards is immediately discarded) in the deck. If you don't draw that card, that upgrade is a dead card. I have the same issue with re-emergance. Both these cards are amazing but I don't know if there's enough support for them. Love the change for the perfect blade though. Its such a powerful play against hunger parasite decks.
@AthenaKipen solid input. It's pretty niche for sure and the support from enemies card might in hindsight be a better bang for buck. As a sidenote the +1 dice upg. works on all domains not only friendly ones.

Interesting. I might rethink the deck a bit more. Great input 😊
@@criticalfocuschannel I know it works on all domains, not just friendly ones. But playing it because you expect your opponent to run them isn't reliable. I don't want to run a card that my opponent can brick by: not running domains, choosing not to play a domain, or playing a domain that gets discarded eg voidcursed.
Ofc, that was really just a sidenote, not a reason to run the card because of a, as you say, niche case synergy. That being said, as a general note, there'll pretty much always be some situational last picks in nemesis decks and getting the benefit of +1 dice once or twice in a game of 12 friendly activations isnt to bad.
Interesting pairing! I absolutely love running this warband. false gifts? Chefs kiss! I’m going to have to give this a whirl. Also, looking forward to those future batreps!
Really happy to see some more Underworlds, especially after GW confirmed the game wasn't dead, lol. Always pleased to see the Skaven on-screen, but I'm happy that Kainan's were able to overcome the abysmal dice luck at the beginning of the game. So. Many. Supports!
Cheers mate! Yeah, very glad the game's still alive and kicking! We got two more lined up ready for editing aswell. Yeah, was quite a swingy game dice wise for sure!
Glad to hear it! Sure there'll be warcry. Its not our main focus but we'll definately find place for it in the mix. I recently added the rotmire creed to my nurgle army so im definately game to field them.
Hi! I'm not very experienced, so I would like to double-check if the action from 11:19 is legal (Rabidius has already a charge token and a gambit card says it makes a move ACTION). I thought move actions are forbidden if a fighter has charged in a round, unless every character has charge token. BTW: Finally Skabbik on the battlefield. Do you prefer Voidcursed or Parasitic version of them?
@@ApocalypticHigh he would be prohibited from doing a move action as a regular activation but since it is via a ploy it is legal. And yeah, i much prefer voidcursed with them tbh but Im convinced I could get to like this deck aswell with some more practice (we played a single test rund before recording)
The Charge counter prevents the fighter being chosen for an activation, but can be given actions by other means. That's my understanding of it anyway - I can't promise there's no FAQ ruling that says different.
From the rulebook =) "Some gambit cards allow your fighters to make additional actions without being activated. When one of these gambits specifes a particular action or actions, a fighter can make those actions even if the rules of the game would normally not allow it. For example, if a gambit says that a fighter can make a Charge superaction, they can do so even if they have a Move token."
Very nice report! It's great that you went to the trouble of painting it to make it look this nice. It's nice to see the game and you explain things nicely. Both warbands look nice and I can't wait to get her and her friend. I wouldn't expect me to ever end up with elves or any offshoot of them, but this bunch looks interesting. Keep up the good work and thanks for creating!!!
I am guessing I'm not the only one who knows Skaven created-made the sky boats not the stinking-smelly duardin. The only place mine have been on line is the discord for a vancouver bc aos channel.
So close to being done painting my fec spearhead, excited to try it out. How strong/fun would dennis (i think?) rate it? Also, LOVE the table and models!!!!
@@criticalfocuschannel”no plan of operations extends with certainty beyond the first encounter with the main hostile force” -Feldmarschal Helmut Von Moltke the elder
I faced Mollog in his new form a few times now, and I find him (to) easy to play around. If you just do your objective things, generally ignore him and don't hit for those three wounds to prevent his inspiration, he is just "there" but not that usefull imho. The new Gitz though have a decent deck and are back to being the good old days great fun
@@TomMurrath yeah, he lost alot of oumph I reckon. Definately need to revisit the gitz, played pretty poorly here and didnt really care for the pairing.
Gryselle’s is very much a glass cannon team. However, recently I played against the Skinnerkyn and was able to get the Silver Blur Inspired. Shortly after, I gave her the upgrade which you can chose to go on guard l, get +1 dice, or +1 damage, and activate the flourish that gives you +1 damage. With the +2 move ploy, I charged 7 INCHES, got some bonus attack rolls per her fighter card, and 1 shorted the Skinnerkyn Leader. This happened after the leader got the “push all chainrasps” upgrade. Shortly after, I charged the Skinnerkyn with the big axe with a similar out of action result. This team is very strong, and with careful placement you can bring the pain. This was only Rivals, so who knows how they would do in competitive.
@@criticalfocuschannel I will have to watch that batrep. Especially since early on most fighters that are in range of yours are usually one damage fighters, so your two wound fighters are likely to survive. The double dodge does help as well, but most of the fighters also have either 3 swords or two hammers, so their attacks should connect. It is hard if the dice rolls aren’t with you, but that is Underworlds in general.
@@sarolian usually People only read up on the changes or print any relevant errata while participating in tourneys. Sadly GW doesnt provide free to download errataed cards although some online card library sites do =)
As an old fan of Farstriders this change made me sad that this combo is harder to pull off now 😢 Q: A fighter that is not staggered is driven back while Heaving Ground is persisting. Later in the same activation step, that fighter becomes staggered. Does Heaving Ground deal damage to them after that activation step? A: No
Still works fine with the Farstriders attacks, just the clarification that you need to be staggered before the drive back kicks in to do the damage (which I think was obvious from the sequencing rules). So shoot with Eagle-Eye to do 1 damage and stagger, then follow up with one of the other two for the extra damage on the drive back against the same fighter.
