Awesome haul! Fantastic edition of Hollywood 90028! I’m a huge fan of Downeast! Their winter blend is so good. Frogman F@&ks! Ha. I’ll say nothing more. Love that movie. You must watch. Incredible video! 😎👊🏻
Need to do me Sept haul wrap up video likely today to post tonight or tomorrow. So far tho The Hitcher is my favorite release so far for Sept. it’s so beautiful. Also I watched your Black Out review. It sounds awesome. Haha.
I just ordered The Hitcher today! I thought I missed out but Diabolik posted a dented one that I grabbed for a great price! I can’t wait for it to come in haha Can’t wait to see your video!
@@beardedfilmguy you’re going to love it! Such an awesome design with great features! Also I I heard you mention you live near Diabolik? I think they’re here in NJ. I’m up in northern NJ.
Hot Take : Rob Zombies Halloween 2 and Halloween Ends are some of the best in the series. They go beyond what a normal Slasher movie is so post to be and becomes more of a character study on what actually happens to people who go through a traumatic event.
Umbrella put the Night Owls Broadcast Cut on the bluray. You breezed through it like it was nothing on the special features. It's what the VHS is, but I guess they did a digital version for the bluray. It was never listed on the website either, which makes it a bit of a bonus. I really like it, as you watch the Broadcast Cut, it makes the actual movie feel more like the documentary. I don't think any other release has that cut. Is it perfect... no. Is it cool... yeah!
Be completely honest with you, I didn’t even know that! I had opened this and checked it out right before filming! That’s incredibly awesome! Thanks for telling me, man!
I grabbed the Walmart steelbook bc I wanted the nite owl hanger 😂. Dead girl was definetely a watch…. I remember blind buying it back on release going in knowing nothing about it
I bought this before that announcement and I don’t see a reason to need this in 4k. It’s designed to look like a 70’s live TV broadcast. I could be wrong there but I’m perfectly happy with a good Blu-ray of this! 🤘🏻
Never really used Letterboxed. I do use imdb and have been doing so for about 15 years, with around 6000 movies and shows rated. I love using it as a log of what I watched and how much I liked it. Knowing how many movies I saw in each year, helps me prioritize films from years I saw less in and so does knowing what genres I tend to watch and what niches of countries I tend to touch. For me, logging and rating, is a big part of watching movies. But at the same time I never had the problem you have... never really gave the rating that much thought or attention.
Rating & reviewing is a super important part of watching movies! That’s always been something I love but something changed in my mentality and I have to course correct that, you know?! Maybe one day I’ll be back at it!
I noticed the same thing too when I was deep in Letterbox. Throughout the entire movie, I would just be crafting the quippy opening lines to my review. It got to a point where I wasn't even enjoying movies as entertainment anymore, they were moreso a means to an end.
That’s 100% true! There’s movies I don’t like today and love tomorrow - I think that’s also another issue though that people get stuck on their initial thought and go back into a film with whatever they thought before and that impacting their experience. If I watch a movie I don’t like that’s in my head going into it and that’s affecting my experience without me realizing it!
I used to not rate any movies on Letterboxd because I didn’t know how to quantify every different type of film on there. But then I realized I was doing the films I loved- and wanted to champion- a disservice by not giving them a 5 star rating. And even movies I thought were really good that I could give a 4 star ratings to. The star rating helps to quickly communicate to other people how much you love a film. So for myself, I don’t log a film on Letterboxd that I don’t like or think is below average. Because I wanna use the app to keep track of what I like and what the good cinema is, not the bad cinema. So the lowest rating I ever give is 2.5 stars, meaning average. And if I think a film is only worth 2 stars or less, I don’t log it because I’d rather just forget it even exists if I think it’s crap. A film doesn’t have to be Lawrence of Arabia or 2001 to get a 5 star rating. There are plenty of low budget exploitation movies that deserve 5 stars as well.
I absolutely agree with the last statement! For a lot of people that’s the healthiest thing to do and I’m definitely in the minority with how I was overthinking but at the end of the day my goal is to just enjoy the movies I’m watching and I’m happy I found a way to!
Simply put, this is not what you told me. You stated that Letterbox had emailed to say you were banned for life because you wouldn't stop harassing users who had rated 'Lolita (1997)' demanding to be told if they knew whether there would be a sequel. You spent days on end just spamming people the same messages, and were reported for abuse.
Such a good topic. I joined LettrBoxd this year and I like it for interacting with some of my peers. As far as me rating films. I give my opinion and move on. I try not to spend too much time on the app.
Since I use mine just as a tracking everything gets a 5 star or nothing. If I enjoyed it and got anything from it it got 5 stars to let me know it was worth the watch. No review means it wasn’t for me and don’t want to put a one star bc at the end of the day it just wasn’t for me
I have almost 2000 films logged and I wanna stop rating them but I feel like I'll have to erase all my previous rates and then I don't want to do it anymore hahaha nice video, keep it like that 🙏
I completely agree! I stopped rating films over a year ago and even went through the 1000+ films I had logged and removed all the ratings. It was exhausting and impacted my enjoyment of the film in the first instance. Thanks for sharing
I’m happy that someone else went through the same thing I did! It really ruined my mindset and I think others need to re-evaluate and make sure they’re actually enjoying what they’re watching!
I see where they’re trying to push it as a social platform but it doesn’t work very well for it. I haven’t looked at followers / following in so long ‘cause I forgot it existed. 🤣
Honestly genuinely love following my friends on it though and seeing whatever cool shit they're watching on my feed, like I've discovered some really great movies that way. But overall I never use it as a social media platform really, and I don't really get why they're trying to push it like that when I've always kinda used it more like a blog where I share my thoughts on stuff I watch really.
Hey I saw your segment on Frank's Media and Reviews - thank you for mentioning The Witch, I looooovve that movie. I think it speaks volumes on the experience of existing as a woman. Looking forward to watching videos on your channel!
