When using this reader with Voice Over, the Voice Over voice starts reading it at the same time as the Easy Reader Voice. This happens when using the play and back and forward buttons and when swiping up and down the screen to go back and forward. This is happening on text that I cipied and pasted into the reader.
If anyone is curious, I can normally talk better and more easily than that. The little "shoulder shrug" motion is me trying to initiate another breath more quickly on the ventilator so I can continue talking. Listening to the computer demo portion, I think I figured out why I was running out of breath more quickly than normal… you can hear air leaking, and an occasional squeak from the connection of my ventilator tubing to my trach. No worries. Just thought I would explain! :-)
Thank you Roger. Yes, I learned to use my neck muscles to pull my chest up enough to take in air through my trach when the ventilator is disconnected; it's kind of like a mini "sit up" motion. I can do that for four hours or so, if needed.
Bill Miller Whoa, I didn't know you responded! I saw in your other video you posted years ago with you mentioning that you can sustain yourself without a ventilator for up to 4 hours, but thought I might've misunderstood you. Why does your voice sound raspy? Is it because of your ventilator, or the way your trach opening was opened? The reason I ask is that I see videos of other ventilator-dependent individuals who's voice sound normally. Nevertheless, I still think your voice sounds really cool and "mechanical!" By the way how have you been? I believe I subscribe to your channel, but there haven't been any updates for the past few years.
You are correct, I can breathe for more than four hours, but cannot talk while doing so. My voice has better days than others, but the video from several years ago, i.e. "Meet Bill Miller" was recorded with a different ventilator. I think I was able to talk better using that ventilator, but alas, it has been discontinued as the manufacturer (I think) stopped servicing the outdated model.
