I have a John Deere L120 with a hydrostatic and it needs a new rear end but I want to manual swap it does anyone know where I could get a transaxle for it or which transaxle would work
@OKOFFROADMOWERS did you guys relocate the holes in the spindles where the tie rod ends attach so you got ackerman steering? Switching to a rack you definitly need to do that. You can youtube it if youre unfamiliar with what it is. It'll keep your tires from fighting eachother when turning.
What do you think about putting a live axle in back? My mower currently has a horizontal shaft motor to a peerless 1200 and it’s slow as heck even with a 10” pulley on the motor. Should i try and go to an 8” pulley on motor or go torque converter and a live axle to get torque and speed?
@Okoffroadmowers How come you guys dont mount the transaxles on a long swingarm that pivots halfway to the front of the mower so the pulley aligns decent still and run brake and shift levers above the pivot point. You'll get a way better ride and better traction and way less shock to the axles and rear diff, etc ANY suspension, even just an inch or 2 is wayyy better than none for many reasons
You guys ever tried using a murray style Vari-drive pulley setup in front of a geared transaxle? Dont use MTDs version because the center part free spins so you'll eat belts.

Why dont you put suspension on them? A little suspension will make off-roading way more enjoyable. Theres a bunch of different ways to do it. Im working on fabricating front and rear suspension on my newer Husqvarna mower just to make it ride good while i mow. Also reinforcing the frame A LOT because its junk, and installing bearings everywhere that should really have them. These newer mowers are ALL garbage, the goal is to see how much it takes to make it un-garbage.
Super clean crisp builds all the way around! Looks like they’re all running minty! Those are some nice roads and trails you got there. I like that circle thing going on if that’s what it is, looks like it’s got some banks on the turn too! Awesome video guys, me and the boys really enjoy watching!
