Many years ago, as Kentucky fans were leaving, one of them said to another one, "Are they playing "Amazing Grace"?" The other one said, "they must be playing it for us." haha. Actually our band plays it after every game. If you stay around a couple of hours, you get a great concert of aerosmith and other really good music. There are only a few straglers left in the stands just sitting in the night air and listening to some good music.
I was a member of the pit during this show. I did the xylo on the 1st movement, vibes + xylo on the 2nd, and the glockenspiel solo at the start of the 3rd. I’m very glad I came upon this, it really gives me perspective on the band as a whole, including our marching and sound. I really like our sound for how small of a band we are (compared to schools in Lexington or Aiken counties). Good luck to all S.C bands this season. It will go better than last, for sure.
It’s been over 30 years since I marched in this. I can still remember the details of my mellophone part that can’t really be heard on this abs I remember how long it took for the soloist to learn their parts. It’s amazing how these memories come back crystal clear when listening abs watching so many decades later.
