I wish he would show the Columbus Airport Terminal longer. There's a brief glimpse at 13:45 in the video. That Terminal still exists! It should be on a National historic landmarks! # save original port Columbus Terminal!!
Back again! By the way,I didn't mention that I am a forth generation Columbus resident. My great grandfather was a conductor for the N.Y.R.R. and I have been in the old original airline terminal located at the Port Columbus International Airport. It is situated on the extreme Eastern edge of the airport over next to the old N.Y.C.R. line that's just a few hundred feet from the terminal. Someone should do a video on it,before it gets torn down!
In 2002 i flew in that exact Tri Motor.I even wore my Eastern Airlines Ground Crew coat, which was manufactured for Eastern airlines by the same company who made the coats for the Canadian Airforce! The Pilot's got a huge kick out of that!
Wow…I really liked the history of the Ford Tri-Motor. Back in 2019, the Double Eagle airport, (Albuquerque, New Mexico), featured a Ford Tri-Motor. I not only rode in it, I got to fly it! Here’s a back story on the Ford Tri-Motor that brought this airplane into our lives. At the time we were living in Las Vegas, Nevada. My wife and I owed a cake shop, Cake Desings by Ruth, that she ran. She got an order for a cake, in the shape of the Ford Tri-Motor. The North Las Vegas airport was doing an event for the airplane. I don’t know how, she is very talented, but she did the Ford Tri-Motor out of cake. Our daughter delivered the cake, and my wife never saw the real thing. So, in 2019 when it came to town, moved here in 2014, we had to go. They were selling tickets to fly on it. Well, we couldn’t pass on the opportunity to take a ride on this historic airplane. I paid extra to ride in the right seat. Once we got to altitude, I mentioned to the pilot that many years ago I took helicopter lessons, and he said, “well, you shouldn’t have any trouble flying this, and said I had the controls”. That was a once-in-a-lifetime experience that my wife and I will never forget. Thanks for sharing this.
I had the opportunity to take a ride in the Tri-motor but my mother vetoed it. I did get a ride in a Boeing 727 when American Airlines started flying into Toronto International Airport ( now Pearson International Airport [YYZ]. AA had the tri-motor, too.
I worked at the Burlington WI airport, the location of the EAA's flight operations at the time, when this plane was damaged in a 70 mph squall line. The wind picked it up and blew it on its back. I flew on it a number of years later, at OSHKOSH, after it was restored.
That is so cool. This is one of the best comments I have ever received. I love hearing from someone that actually lived the story I was telling truly amazing. Like a Phoenix it rose from the ashes what a resilient plane and well manufactured. Thank you for watching this video and taking the time to share your story with me. Do you have any other key information from that day and your experience with the NC 8407?
What did you think of your experience flying in one? I know there is an Ohio historical marker that memorializes the Tri-Motors use on the islands. If I am not mistaken there is one in Wisconsin that was used for The island airways and also I believe they are restoring one too.
I don't remember the year , but was around 1996-1999 . I took a ride in a Ford Tri-motor from St. Louis Reginal in East Alton Illinois. I always loved the look of this aircraft. The ride was far too short but very enjoyable.
@@paulmcneil5529 that is fascinating and ironic I am working on another episode that goes from origins of aviation but with an emphasis on barnstorming. I appreciate you taking the time to watch this video and commenting. Hope to see you back for future videos.
I rode in a Trimotor from Sandusky Ohio to Put-in-bay and back many moons ago. On the return I got to ride the right seat. What a kick. Being a pilot myself, I was surprised how the pilot manuevered the big plane like I would my Cessna 150. They were/are easy to fly and land. It looks like a Fokker tri=motor for a reason. Henry apparently copied enough of the Fokker that, according to what I read online, Ford had to pay Fokker damages for copying their design.
I didn't put it in the video but their was a significant history with the Tri-Motor island jumping for quite a few years in Put In Bay, Port Clinton and the Islands. That was cool you got to experience flying in one too. I didn't want to make accusations so I left it ambiguous. You could claim that almost all of those planes were very similar to their contemporaries. Enough of that, I appreciate you taking the time to watch the video and hope to see you back on future episodes
Henry was an Irishman, himself, but knew the Germans built solid aircraft. The name Junkers, is pronounced, Young-kers, J's sound like Y's . Good vid, though!
Sorry for mispronouncing Hugo. Yes the Germans made well designed aircraft and no surprise why there plane was modeled after. I am glad you enjoyed the video and hope to see you back for future videos
@@steveshoemaker6347 I appreciate your comments and glad you enjoyed it. That is amazing and bet that was some kind of a thrill to fly in a F-4 phantom jet.
Cool video Brandon & that was awesome you got to ride in a Ford Trimotor plane! I never realized how much Ford had a hand in shaping the aviation industry. Thanks for sharing all the info on this plane, it was really interesting.
@@SkiffoniusDankour I am glad you enjoyed my friend. I hope a week or two but ultimately depends on day to day life. What are you hoping is in the episode and I will try and incorporate it
I'm jealous I really wanted to fly in that but it was not meant to be this time. Thanks for taking the time to check out both videos and commenting. Is there anything you would like to see in a future video?
AH YES ALL HALLOWS EVE THE SPOOKIEST HALLOWEEN Event AT OHIO VILLAGE AKA THE HAUNTED VILLAGE WITH THE HEADLESS HORSEMAN RIDING HIS HORSE GUNPOWDER ACROSS THE BOARDS OF THE OLD BRIDGE!!!!!!!!❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😮😮😮😮😮😮😮😮😮
I apologize you didn't appreciate the music. I created a montage for my friend that flew in this plane for his memories. However in the future I plan on doing a video at this location without the music. I hope you check back for that one. I appreciate you taking the time and letting me know your thoughts.
@@i.hunter3627 I'm jealous and your lucky. Maybe one day I will be able to add it to my bucket list. I am adding a video of the B-17 now but it has music. The next video will be a documentary on those amazing aircraft. I appreciate your input and hope to see you back to the channel.
I made this video for my friend that actually flew on that plane. I am sorry you didn't appreciate the music. I plan on doing another video with music but also one with no music that goes into the history of these planes hopefully you will check back and enjoy that video without the music.
thanks buddy. Decided to use that song since a band was playing that song at Goetta Fest as we started walking the bridge but unfortunately it didn't come out good enough from the original audio
You can tell this building was built as a Wendy's. It still has Wendy's carpeting and seating. The sign out front has " Featuring Chili & Frosty" on it but its been painted over.
People talk about hot dogs being made out of lips and butt holes but the truth is that's bologna. I can't imagine biting in a thick slice of hot greasy bologna on a bun. White cheese? Is that Swiss or Mozzarella? A meat with that strong of a flavor should be topped with sharp cheddar. Why are their cream pies so dang expensive? Everything else seems pretty reasonably priced except the cream pies? Cream pies are cheaper and easier to make than fruit pies but on this menu they cost twice as much, that doesn't make sense?
@@TheTolleRoad just an amazing display and funny thing is the finale will be on the next. I was very impressed by the show. It was unlike any other show I've seen.
Was the best show I have ever seen. Need to find more shows on this caliber. If you know of any places to go for next year let me know. Thanks for watching and happy 4th.
