Beginning Italian pronunciation guide (I don't speak Italian, but my father taught us correct pronunciations many years ago) Centanini... Ce is pronounced Cha(y). Che is pron. Kay but no dipthongs in Italian, so like Ka(y). Eh, ee, ah, O without the "u" sound at the end... Ooh=u, no eu, pure vowel sounds. "A" is Ah, eh (as in bet) ee O ooh. Think of the sound of o(ka)y Bella cosa of O Sole Mio... Ben(y)amino Gigli= zhilyi. Not a giggily fellow. Che gelida manina. Ka(y) jeleeda mah-nee-nah. All pure vowels, nothing like German. The wag from National Lampoon said German sounds like someone using an air sick bag. For Centanini To be pronounced Sentanini, it would have to be spelled with an s. There's a cutie pie newscaster on PBS last name of Vanozzi. She drives me crazy when she pronounces it Van-nosy. It's pron. Van- otzi, as in La Nozze di Figaro. Well, enough for now. Buy a little Italian dictionary with pronunciation guide, no point mangling simple Italian names. 🔵👹🐸🦖🫏
Brilliant orientation, Kurt! Congratulations on your overall concept, script and easy camera presence. Eldridge Reeves Johnson himself approves this message! @nipperknows
Muito interessante o vídeo. Então, já aqueles que curtem o universo dos discos, faço um convite para seguir o nosso canal Memória da Música (RLG) www.youtube.com/@memoriadamusica3543/videos. Até breve!
1:07:41 -- THERE IT IS! I recognized the 26 on the label instantly! Hard to believe it's been more than 30 years since I found that very disc in a Tomball TX antiques store for $2! One thing you forgot to mention, Kurt -- this disc has a song written by one of the contest winners performed by none other than legend Vernon Dalhart, the only existing recording of this performance by a man who recorded more than 1,600 sides in his career! EDIT: I spoke too soon, haha! I'm actually the one who told Jack Palmer about it and sent him a recording of it, shortly after I found it. Through Tim Gracyk and the early internet (Prodigy bulletin boards), that record put me in touch with Jack, Ron Dethlefson, and you, with whom I traded it for $250 auction credit if memory serves. 😊
Small world, Robert. Sure am glad you brought that disc to Ft Naucks many years ago, so that we could share it with the world on the Bidder Request Show. You'll be happy to know that it will be heading back to your collection, as you had the high bid! What goes around, comes around. ;-^)
I sold you my modest collection back in 1993! South Bend, In. You sure have grown. You did it by hard work, knowledge and honesty. Keep going on with keeping vintage record collecting alive in this crazy woke country. When our Savior returns He is going to find a real mess!
You are amazing - Thank God for people as dedicated as you. Thank you so much. Your service helped me determine the year of issue on many of my 78"s. Thank you again!
28:58 Interesting, I also have a Brunswick with that sort of stamping around the label, showing the dealer that sold the record. Not the same dealer though.
Hello! I must say that I have enjoyed your videos lately. In response to the Alan Lomax and Woody Guthrie offering (which would blow my wallet tremendously), John Lomax would have most likely not been "his folks" rather it would have been either members of The Almanac Singers like his sister Bess Hawes, Pete Seeger, or Lee Hays (the latter of the two would go on to form the Weavers with Fred Hellerman and Ronnie Gilbert). Nonetheless, I concur with you that it is an absolute huge piece of history in the preservation and understanding of the American folk music revival in the 20th century. Something, that I think, would belong in any museum. I look forward to bidding in your auction, and stay safe.
Hey, I’m new to your auctions and looking forward to my first bids. I’m very interested in listening to your request show. Got the dates, but not the times. What time should I tune in to begin listening to your show?
