Nice message ladies unfortunately there are too many brainwashed into the zenophobic mentality and war culture and this is the cause of so much misery in the World. Look at the disgusting suffering in places such as Gaza, Ukraine, Syria etc. etc. ..... As a male, I am ashamed to say that this is mainly due to a flaw in the male psyche. Too many are ruled by machismo and aggresive behaviour. The Cave Man mentality. This is especially seen in nations which have laws which encourage possession of firearms. Murder and crime are commonplace in such places. Until the human species wises up, the World will never be a harmonious place to live in and ,unfortunately, it is often women and children who suffer the most. Life is short and we need more love and less conflict. Heroes are those who nurture life and NOT THOSE THAT DESTROY IT.

My wife and I saw here in concert in Lubbock many years ago and she talked and talked and talked and talked. We left after about 40 minutes as all she did was talk and we thought the $64 she charged was a total waste of money. Not a fan at all of this woman. Just my opinion and I am aware that friends of mine also had the same problem.

I had a crush on her stuff in the late 80's before growing tired of her. Funnily, all my neighbors thought I was listening to Dolly Parton. I lost my full respect for her due to seeing her obsessed with promoting Lyndon Johnson's memory clearly demonstrating to me her worldly knowledge was a bit naïve.....for a few years, however, she was my favorite female singer than included Emmy Lou Harris

I really enjoyed this tribute. Weaver influences mentioned in the vid included The Kingston Trio, The Clancy Brothers and The Quarrymen (later The Beatles) and Ronnie Gilbert influences mentioned included Mary Travers, Judy Collins, Joan Baez and Odetta. But also during the 1960s there was another major outfit which was VERY influenced by The Weavers: Judith Durham and The Seekers. They recorded many Weavers songs, in their own style, but it's almost impossible to not hear the similarities...3 guys with awesome harmonies and up front, a girl with one helluva voice. Weavers songs The Seekers recorded include Kumbaya, Gotta Travel On, When The Stars Begin To Fall, Lonesome Traveller, Sinner Man, If I Had A Hammer and This Land Is Your Land. Of course, The Seekers also produced top pop hits too, such as Georgy Girl and I'll Never Find Another You. Seeker Keith Potger, in The Seekers 50th Year book published in 2015 said "Tenor Pete Seeger's use of the 12-string guitar and banjo, baritone Fred Hellerman's 6-string rhythm guitar, Lee Hayes' resonant bass vocal register and Ronnie Gilbert's soaring lead voice gave The Weavers an unmistakeable sound. It provided The Seekers with a wonderful example of what could be accomplished with strong voices and acoustic instruments".

Elizabeth Cotten is my great grandmother. I am Brenda Evans, one of the great grands who she mentioned who added verses to the song Shake Sugaree. I am also the vocalist featured on her album Shake Sugaree. It is so wonderful to read the comments each of you have written. It makes me happy and grateful to know that you appreciate her music. Thank you!

I've been a diehard Peter , Paul , and Mary fan for 31 years since I was 5 years old watching PP&M's children's concert special for PBS Peter , Paul , and Mommy Too in 1993 . Never once in any public interview or concert have I ever seen Noel Paul Stookey cry . I have always been moved by his song El Salvador . However , while I am aware that The Trio went to El Salvador and Nicaragua, I was completely unaware of this backstory . Seeing Noel get emotional telling this story really makes me appreciate even more what Peter , Paul , and Mary did for 50 years . Their incredible children's music and ability to enchant you , make you smile , make you laugh , and make you singalong with them, while wonderful , was always secondary . Without the seriousness of addressing contemporary concerns , there probably never is a Puff The Magic Dragon or It's Raining , It's Pouring .

Harry Belafonte made enormous contributions to America's democracy, to the American Political Arena, to the American Judicial System, and he brought an awareness of the effects of AMERICAN RACISM on the lives of Black Americans. He got many in Hollywood involved in the Civil Rights Movement. He also got involved in the South African Anti- Apartheid System. He was instrumental in getting Nelson Mandela out of Prison and Martin Luther King out of US Jail! In his 96 years of life, Harry Belafonte Made A Significant and Very Positive Difference.

She was an amazing talent, the 5 and dime was song one of my favorite songs. It reminded me of my childhood, what a story she wrote about life's experiences put to music and song. A gifted word smith in and lyrics and voice and she was also as cute as a bug to boot. 😍May God bless and keep her in his loving arms...

I've always been a HUGE fan of Gordon Lightfoot. Earlier this month, I turned 77 yrs. old & still have all his original vinyl albums & CDs to play when I'm on the road in my '07 Honda that I'll drive until the wheels fall off! Gord died a day or two before my 76th birthday last year. I will always remember this powerful fact. R.I.P., Gordon Lightfoot ❤😢❤...

I met her at the old Mueller airport in 1984. I didn't know who she was and she was just a sweet Texas girl to me. I didn't get her name or phone number but the next year I saw her on ACL TV and recognized her immediately!!!! I was ecstatic that's the girl with a guitar from the airport and she's made it to the big time!!!! Instead of just being a fan I was very proud of her and her accomplishments. She had more talent than anyone I had ever met. She was truly brilliant.

While she walked this earth, she embodied what an angel is. She blessed us with her music, her talent, mostly just her beautiful smile and presence. In 1993 I heard Spanish Boots of Spanish leather traveling up the NJ turnpike, That cover of my idol Bob Dylan’s song changed my life. I had an enormous crush on this smart incredible woman. Nanci, your always with me and all your fans. All we have to do is “Listen to the radio” I miss you!
