Unfortunately, our front three pairing wasn't in sync and i think the system wasn't conducive to our attack. I like Manaka and Sanchez as two attacking tens while Wingate at 9, and Pickett and Vine as wings. Narumi and Sully as Defensive holds. Only three back but we need a dynamic player on the left wing who can keep up with pacey player. Maybe Bell or Rauci
Sully has no interest in advancing the ball. Defenders may as well pass against a wall. Possession for possession’s sake. This feel worse than the loss at Utah.

Hopkins is a great player; we all see her potential and caliber player she is and will become. I hope she continues to trust the process. I can't wait for the second half of the season. This league is on the trajectory to being the best. Go NC!

I wonder what other ways they could make the format for the tournament. At first I thought 2 large groups so you could get more games, but the traveling would be too much in that short period of time. Maybe there would be a way to create 4 groups instead of 5? The big appeal to me is getting to see the Mexican teams we don't normally get to see during the season, so making more of those opportunities at the cost of NWSL vs NWSL matches I think would be better if it was possible. Either way I already got my tickets to see the Rayadas and am looking forward to possibly seeing some Courage players that don't get much playing time. As the coach said, it isn't life or death to win and its more about the team learning as a whole.

I agree the results aren't what I think is important about the summer cup. I'm far more interested in seeing the style of play against the Rayadas style. Win or lose it is going to be really fun, I just wish we got to play more than 1 team from liga mx femenil. i saw there was another group that had two and i am a bit jealous of them.
It is evidently clear, Coach, that you pour everything into this club, NC, and the development of women's soccer as a whole. You certainly have my gratitude.
I'm really excited for the Monterrey game, already freed up the day after to make sure there's no issues with it being a Wednesday night. Part of that was due to the partnership with the teams and Pinto/Bova going there to train during preseason. Then when their finals was going on I tuned in to watch them against Club America. I have a friend in Mexico who despises Club America and we were talking before the game how they had a chance to win the title in both the mens and womens leagues, so well done to the Rayadas for fighting back and pushing it to penalties. To win against teams like Club America or Tigres who have some really big name players was great and I love that underdog story. Now we get to see how they match up against our players and it should be a really fun match from the effort I saw from them and what I know our players will bring. I agree about the formatting how it sucks that if you win the group you can still miss out on the next rounds. It doesn't make much sense because if you get pair with equally strong teams then sharing points around could cause the potentially best team of the tournament from not making it out of groups. I think someone needs to look over this in the future and even if there are byes or something we can't have a group get no one out of it.
This is obviously a development year for Hopkins. Continue to build her confidence with film and shot training. She will play a viable spot for this team. I think she has the right attitude and we hope she continues to improve. Good luck.

In this game you have DUSRUPTED ORLANDO and Banda/ Watt attacking strategy. You did it perfectly preventing them from any scoring. That’s wonderful, fantastic and deserves a big thumb up for that.
