I was skeptical till I experienced this at my friend’s house. Rich people are no longer storing movies on their hard drives. The easy of a quick search and 7-10 minute download time is priceless to them. It got me thinking. I have over 3000 physical blu ray movies. But each time I want to rewatch a movie I end up just renting it from Amazon. The only downside here is if that company goes bankrupt all your movies will be gone
Mine failed after 1yo and half, DMD chip failure, support and repair only in China, after 2 months, they finally agreed to send a new one, I won't go with Chinese brand anymore
If you have a home theater and you want the same experience get a Zidoo and rip your own movies from the Blu-Rays. Just a little bit of work and you will have a great movie experience. Most of the things being sold in Home theater are overpriced and its been that way for years. Buy used whenever possible
How does this stack up to the XGIMI Horizon Ultra in terms of picture quality, features, ceiling mountability, and colour accuracy in non-light controlled room conditions (blinds but not the blackout kind)?
I’m not sure about the politics. But the AWOL 3500 should have been there. I have seen many projector demos, before deciding that the AWOL 3500 is a great product. Especially its brightness and picture quality
If AWOL hadn’t threatened to sue ProjectorCentral and us if they were included perhaps ProjectorCentral would have decided to include them. They were in the first showdown that took place in 2022 and scored in 5th out of 6th place by the judges. Maybe we will see them included in the 2024 Showdown.
So correct me if I am wrong - but if the TV you are plugging up to doesn’t support Dolby Vision, you wouldn’t be able to view it? What is the average price of the movies in the catalog available?
You could still watch the movie, it would just be in HDR-10 or whatever your display is capable of. The price of movies in the Kaleidescape catalog are on average the same as anyplace else (in other words they do not upcharge). But remember (1) you are getting a far superior product b/c you are viewing and hearing the full movie experience one that is almost identical to what you get in the theaters (b/c Kaleidescape gets the mezzanine file). And (2) they have a rental program and that rental cost goes toward the purchase of the movie should you chose to do so.
For $200 more they could have offered 4TB of storage (cost of 4TB nvme) and not hamstrung the menu system. Once their business model stops operating like a kickstarter I’d be interested.
More convenient way of getting content. You don't have to rip your own Blu Rays or find "sources" to get your movies. Which if you're willing to spend $4000 on a box like this I'd assume you're willing to not have to waste your time doing that kind of stuff and you'd rather just pay for a service like this.
With 1 Gbps service, and a 10 minute download, why download at all? Just steam it at the higher bit rate and don't worry about local storage size. I'm confused by the engineering decision there.
Gigabit is never guaranteed on either end especially if the customer is on wifi or just has a poorly configured network. So you're most likely going to run into a buffer issue no matter what which isn't something a service like this would want for their customers.
Hi, why is there so low contrast while other similar projectors' specs are over 2 000 000:1 contrast looking for oled like monitor should I search for super high contrast and super high color gamut??
Projectors that are claiming 2,000,000:1 are not using “real” contrast measurements (native, sequential, etc) and are using dynamic or other methods to be able to produce an insanely high contrast measurement that will never translate to any actual real viewing.
The Nexigo Aurora pro looks better than all of the other ones + it has more features such as 4k120, 1080p240, 3D, up to 6000:1 contrast ratio in dynamic mode, up to 2400 ansi lumens and Dolby Vision + Atmos.
Hi everyone, I'm about to purchase this projector and I would like some advice from you regarding the projection screen. The use will be exclusive for the cinema with a dark room, distance between sofa and cloth approximately 4 metres. Thank you all !!!!
If 3D is a must for you, then look for the highest rated projector that supports it. Unfortunately for 3d enthusiasts, the projectors that support it didn’t rank as his they in the eyes of the judges when it came to image quality.
Unfortunately you cannot as the Black Diamond is not compatible with UST projectors. If you want a high quality ALR screen for UST we recommend the Spectra Projection Vantage.
The panel of judges are all professional calibrators and projector reviewers. Perhaps the ls800 that you viewed wasn’t setup well or properly calibrated.🤷♂️
Nice first look overview of the C1. Even though this isn't mention or hardly ask much but what type of power connection does the C1 use? Plug-in AC wall power adapter with 2m cord or a power brick and cord ???? This could be a good replacement option for an aging Panny PT-AE3000U LCD projector in a light controlled basement theatre room.
Hello any one can help. For a light controlled basement and 100" white screen would this have better contrast then a epson 5050ub? Which projector has better pq? Thanks everyone
