Inserting witty bio that will appease the almighty algorithm gods. May they grant us long lives and continued success (facepalm).
I am an artist trying to find a way to do my own independent art research with as little contamination as possible. I dislike mechanical learning and I enjoy thinking. Sometimes even good ideas come out of it.
I collect these thoughts in bottles and I toss them out to sea hoping someone will find them and can make sense of them. Maybe even send their own back.
Thanks man! Umm not sure how useful this will be. I´m very ignorant of art history and the art world in general. I tend to relate more with scientists and the way they think through things. I am familiar with some of the fantasy art world and the big names within that but I havent studied their body of work or anything. I have Paul Bonner’s hardcover book that I do find myself going back to every few weeks/months. The amount of detail and his landscapes are very cool. As far as I know he does everything in watercolours which is mind-blowing. His is one of the few art books that I own A scottish artist named David Gallagher is someone I also like to go back to every now and then and do my 30-minute monthly update on what he’s been up to lately. His website is down and I dont think he is on facebook. He does have an instagram account tho. J. C. Leyendecker is someone I find interesting in the way he designs hands. He seems to be a good middle point between highly-rendered and realistic hands (which are intimidating to us all haha) and basic cartoon-like hands. He is a happy medium in my opinion. The way in which he groups hand shapes seems functional, it makes sense to me, so he is someone I go back to for a hand session every few weeks. His is one of the other hardcover books I own, for example. Two Lord of the Rings Sketchbooks I have as well but thats kind of it. Im happy to do my own thing for now :)
maybe that was the problem. They saw yet did not listen! ha! On a serious note, thank you. I do not listen to much music but this was the first rap song I remember being exposed to by a classmate
Hey Michael! interesting enough I do already have a couple of black and grey pentel brush pens. Just need to get around to trying them. They do look intimidating!
this is the first video of yours that I have seen, I love your art and I really enjoy your commentary, I look forward to watching more of your videos! :)
No the mannequins won't come back and bite you. Not every figure you draw will be in the same proportions. Plus you are still working your perspective, foreshortening and volume. Even see some lighting in there. If anything it looks to me like you are just strengthening your construction. Which is a good thing!
100% agreed! I am thinking about revisiting those models for a bit now that its been a few months. To have another go at them periodically for a week or so. Thank you for reaching out!
I am going to have to get back to you on the music front because I do not remember the name and I am not at home these days. Regarding the book, its Figure Drawing: design and invention by Michael Hampton
