Imagine a series of short stories of the war. From various perspectives of people in the Halo universe trying to survive, and how their paths crossed with the legendary Master Chief... something like that old short series about the kids in the UNSC boot camp. I mean there's so much potential.
We lived in a golden era of gaming and didn't even realize it. Passion, emotion, care, world building. Immersion that is severely lacking from modern IPs.
Watching this breaks my heart for halo fans. An ad campaign from 15 years ago holds up better than the show everyone got on paramount plus. What a fumble of a fledgling IP. We all deserved better.
Nobody interested in the service dates of the retired soldiers? That means in universe this has to take place at least 20-30 years after Halo 3. But considering their age and they’re supposed to be veterans this has to take place 30-40 years after. So the interviews could be taking place in the 2580’s to the 2600’s. Which means humanity is doing fine post infinite. Well there goes all the suspense for the fate of the galaxy for the next couple games.
What this is, is a bittersweet memoir of everything an industry once stood for. There was a reason that the 2007 recession did not destroy the gaming industry.
This entire ad series couldve launched it's own show. You do the mockumentary, the battles, the John propaganda bio, then the actual history that people dont wanna know, on to the first Contact, and eventually, the fall of Reach. It couldve been beautiful.
10:16 I always found the image of the Jackals dragging a marine off to god knows where the most unsettling of the whole diorama. It's not enough to just kill him with a sniper shot or a plasma pistol, they were taking him somewhere, possibly as a POW, or to eat him?

Im assuming Marines see all Spartans and get a level of hope, but I really want to hear the stories of Marines that once were fighting beside or god forbid SAVED BY Chief specifically. He's a borderline Angel to so many of them.
Best dioramas ever. Best campaign ever. Remember ALL the UNSC that fought this disastrous war and came out on top against an enemy that was technogically superior and had more numbers and the UNSC just fucking destroyed them. Hope is a powerful weapon. Remember all the Spartans, Marines, and UNSC ships, civilians that made it possible. It's a novel turned game soon to be turned movie trilogy ig and it is so inspiring. Only LOTR has made me feel the same way.
