I think the whole "Peter f's and kills Joanna" and "Grigor not loving George" plot points were specifically written for Marial's character arc Because it wouldn't make sense if Marial, who hates Peter, to still be a friend/confidant of Catherine, the one who loves Peter. And that's why she got arrested
That character is so weak and he keeps getting away with it. No ability to control his urges, but absurdly naive movie-charme tries to make him seem like he has redeemable qualities.

This scene is the hottest thing in the world to me. There's nothing more breathtaking than a gorgeous, confident, and utterly ruthless woman. Something about the sadism and effortless dominance just makes her so compelling.
