I am soo glad to have been able to have seen Eric and Leroy. Eric i can say does not look like he sounds. your much older... lol and Leroy is spot on. looks like he sounds. Bruce too.
Lots easier to do repetitive testing on an engine dyno than a chassis dyno. The Banks data monster is fantastic for data logging and measuring air density. Might be worth a look for your testing. I love using mine for turbo development.
Most powerful and most reliable line of highway engines ever made. The Cat and Detroit guys like to say "Oh but this Cat" and "Oh but this Detroit" and then you remind them of the KTA, and they crawl into a hole eith their beloved Cats and Detroits 😂
The early ISX was known to have catastrophic failures at around 800k. Due to the piston seizing in the bore. From piston play due to the articulated piston design. Obviously, you're probably never going to find a 2001 that hasn't been rebuilt by now. Although I am running a 2001 Volvo with an N14 with 625k original miles. So it is possible.
N14 is incredibly affordable for overall cost of ownership. ISX is a more robust platform capable of higher power long term than the n14 but different years have different issues. An Isx with mix match components can be built to be a reliable high powered beast.
I have 91 mechanical N14 and it's not holding the fuel when I let it sit overnight. I have a fitting with a window right at the fuel pump and it's half full before starting the engine. It takes a bit for it to start and revs high like it has air in the fuel system. Had anybody ever ran into the same issue???
