This was a great explanation! Thank you for this series of videos on goniometry, they have been really helpful. A request I would like to make would be if it would be possible to make a video on how to read the goniometer? I've watched several other videos on RU-vid but they never fully explained the purpose of the other sets of readings and how to read them. If you could do that, that would be awesome!
Some textbooks will refer to this motion as hyperextension. Many clinicians refer to it as extension. We are measuring the portion of extension that extended past anatomic position.
Can these exercises help someone who had elbow fracture8 years ago and hasn’t got the chance of full range of motion( extension, supination and bending of the arm)?
You did a very nice job explaining. I’m in an OT Program now and a few of the landmarks are different. Our professors told us to place the axis inferior to the lateral malleolus and align the moveable arm parallel to the sole of the heel because the metatarsals can allow for more or less movement
You use the smaller goniometer for the ankle, which generally does not have two separate sets of numbers (black and red). You just need to make sure that when you read the goniometer, you start it from a 90 degree position (ankle neutral). Does this help?
Why instruct only in flexion and extension. I am a family medicine physician and my patients always need, flexion/extension, ear to ear, clockwise/counterclockwise rotation, shrugging the shoulders, and pulling the shoulders back. Most Americans are not well hydrated and should be drinking 2 qts of water/ V8 juice.
In case anyone else wonders, it's because of parallax. From her viewpoint it's straight on, from ours (the camera) it isn't. That's why it's important to take goni measurments straight on.
this is incorrect--the pillow is making her more lordotic. it should be under her pelvis--you do not want to measure her in lordosis because now you hare not measuring what you think you are measuring--you want to measure from a point where the pelvis is neutral. what kind of instruction is this?
Hello miss Molly Kaiser I be trying to get into PTA program since 2013. Next year be my year. I spoke to miss Barbara last year in her office. Thanks. I teach kinesiology and with COVID 19, I'm trying to find sources to at least keep lab going online with demonstrations. I do not have the materials in my home to film it myself!
Nice video. i know one more video by one can make their own soap at home with ingredients and herbs which are easily available in our kitchen. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-0_raE_oWdck.html
Water and soap during at least 40 seconds is even more effective but hand sanitizer (alcohol gel) is for those places (streets, public transport or your car, lifters) where you can't wash your hands. If you do it properly you won't need to wash your hands inmediately later.
Well, we won't be able to stop the spreading of that virus for sure but humans will stop carrying the E.Coli bactery on their hands. For those who don't know about it, basically some microscopic poop left after using the toilet
