I saw the video title and knew it had to be EXTREME DINOSAURS. There was simply no other choice. Though I only knew of Denver the Last Dinosaur from the rest of this list. I had no idea The Land Before Time had a show.
I remember Army Ants, my friends had some, and of course we all had some Battle Beasts. Oozers and Super Naturals - wow! I didn't even remember those until seeing this. Takes me back. Being a little boy in the 80s was the best - the commercials were so exciting!
It’s very interesting seeing how commercials were back then and they don’t feel very different from the 2000s. Lot of gross toys for instances I use to see them all the time in the 2000s. Only difference here though is that y’all had a LOT of action figures and a I think a lot of bug related stuff lol
Now they had one that talked to the kids But when I first saw it in 1987, I sort of freaked out and I definitely remember the Creme Supreme one. Bought these at Zayre, grocery stores.
Few recurring categories… -1 trick poneys -Wouldn’t exist without the sunday morning cartoon -absolute waste of plastic with now most of the stock at the bottom of a dumpster And then… “why on earth isn’t it a live action movie” (spiral zone)
I like Timer. Leonard Weinrib who voiced him also did Roland & Rattfink as well as a few Hanna-Barbera cartoons. Do you know his very last cartoon before he passed away?
4:01 without a shadow of a doubt, my favorite toy I had as a kid. And I had a *TON OF TOYS As a kid growing up in the late 80s and 90s!* Boglins would have been my favorite, but I never could get one. They sold out so fast in my area of Austin, Texas back then, we never even SEEN them again once the first wave sold out. But this little buddy? Oh, he went on Clearance for $0.99! And I played with him until he LITERALLY FELL APART. I got one again now as an Adult, but Good Lord, he was so much fun in the early 90s. I could put his Puzzle Organs back together so quickly, I felt like one of those Rubik's Cube Genius kids! LOL
As a Xennial who grew up with the 1992-96 animated US intro, just saw the new X-Men '97 intro, and finally now saw this Japanese intro that everyone seems to over-hype... I dunno. I'm probably nostalgia-biased, but I was a little disappointed by the Japanese intro. Then again, I used to watch a TON of anime that was popular between 15-40 years ago, and this intro just feels kinda generic for its time. J-Rock is cool and all (I was totally obsessed back in its hey-day about 20-30 years ago, and I'm sure I would have appreciated this more if I had seen it back then), but I don't feel like it's as iconic, adrenaline-pumping, or unique as the US intro (especially not music-wise... like you could easily find another awesome J-Rock/metal song to insert, but there's just NO replacing the US intro music). Even the intro fight sequences just feels like Dragon Ball or most other then-common sequences you'd see in most Anime. To each their own, though, but I at least have to say it's WAY better than the 80's US X-Men theme song lol.
