Ever think back on the music of old games you played as a kid and wish they were higher quality? I certainly do! I spend much of my spare time remastering old video game music and giving it modern synths and samples.
Such an amazing piece! Would it be possible for me to use it in a current project I'm working on? I'm doing a remaster to Metroid Fusion (mostly audio and some visuals using different filters and the Repalette hack)
@@Scipionyx8492 Thanks a lot! I’ll be sure to credit you and tell you when i upload the first video in case you want to see it 😁 (i’ll be uploading the gameplay in parts, mostly divided by each sector, Im already halfway done with the opening and the first main deck segment)
@@Scipionyx8492 And a good track it is, as specially this version^^ So, if I may have your honest opinion: I never played CT. Do you think, it holds up until today/should I experience it? I only ask, because the game‘s music alone has got me asking^^
@@fryingraijin I do think it holds up. I've been replaying the Steam version of it lately and still loving it, despite it being almost 30 years old. It's probably not going to feel like a huge impressive game like we get nowadays, but considering its age I think it still flows nicely. The core gameplay is relatively simple for a JRPG, so I think it's good even if you don't have a huge amount of experience there, and I think the graphics and music are immediately charming and really flow with the mood of the game throughout. The plot is a little complicated because it has some time travel stuff in it, but it mostly presents it in a way that is easy to pick out what you need to do next.
this is really relaxing :) I don't know what instrument you used for the lead melody, but this "bell-like" sound is really giving a night feeling and works well as a replacement for the sarod-like instrument from the original. And the eary background appreggio is always really calming to hear - wonderful cover! =)
Thanks! I try to make the night variants more chill than normal. The melody is based on a zither with some extra atmospherics (mainly reverb) to fill out the soundscape a little more and give it that airy feel.
That is the album cover for the "Remastered Tracks Rockman Zero" album that Inti Creates did for the game. They released a remastered tracks album for each of the games (Zero, Idea, Telos, and Physis) plus a bonus one later (Mythos).
Great job, this has always been one of my favorite Ganon battle themes. There were references to it in TotK, particularly in the track called “The Demon King’s Army.”
Thanks! A lot of the more intense parts of the Megaman series are very high energy, so I really wanted to double down on the slow ominous feeling of this one for contrast.
@@Scipionyx8492 Complete understood, some people make emotional music more high energy and upbeat, with unfortunately for me kinda take what the music did away. I really wish Omega was more welcome, his original design(Not the one where he is in zero body) SICK AS HELL. Plus who doesn't love a sinister theme of a villain character?
Thank you! I've been meaning to get back to this track for quite a while, but now I'm actually happy I kept getting sidetracked. Definitely wouldn't have done it like this a year or so ago.
Thank you so much for making these amazing Megaman Legends remixes. That game and its music are so underrated and I'm really glad I found this channel today, keep up the good work!
Thanks! I actually started doing music in the first place because I realized that a lot of the more obscure music I like would never get updated, so I'm happy to provide that to other people as well.
@@H00le0 Hey, thanks! That means a lot to me. Honestly, I got lucky because I had a friend that was going into music who let me use their music software for a long time. I actually only got my own setup a few years ago.
This could be a great loop for listening - very calm and zen like. Nice ambience and fullness behind the simple melody line that stands out from the supporting background.
I don't mind, feel free to use it. I originally started doing remasters because I wanted modern versions of old songs to listen to myself, so I'm happy to provide that to others too.
Thanks! I do wish that they would remake Fusion with modern tech. I think Dread has better core gameplay, but I really like the more ponderous feel that Fusion got sometimes.
Surprise Saturday upload! Just a general PSA, I don't have as much free time to work on music right now, so my uploads will probably just go up whenever I get them ready, rather than trying to stick to one a week like I was for a while.
Thanks! I was thinking about making that the ending for my videos, but I decided that it left too much silence at the end of my songs. It's a cute turtle though, so I left it up on a couple tracks anyways.
I plan on doing the boss theme eventually, but I'm not sure exactly how I want to do all of it, so I will probably work on some other stuff for now and circle back to the boss battle later. There's actually a fair amount of music from FFIX that I want to do, so I'll probably be bouncing around in the soundtrack for a bit.
This is such a good track. I can't wait to start remaking this track. Mega Man Legends 2 has lots of epic hits! You did really well here. It has me hyped!
Thanks! I've been wanting to do this one for a long time now because I love what the original is going for, but I knew it would be a difficult one because it's so short and I only recently started doing more major extensions to tracks. Once you get in the right spot though, this one is a lot of fun to play with.
Yeah, it was a bit tricky to balance the soundscape in the beginning with the end. I wanted to push this one a little more towards that kinda new age padwork though, and that allowed me to fill out the first half a bit more so it wasn't quite as much of a jump to get to the second half.
Oh, I definitely got stuck here a lot playing this game. That's one of the reasons I want to take these Bonnes themes seriously. By the end of the games you're playing as one of the most powerful characters in the Legends series and it can easy to forget that the Bonnes are actually a major threat to most normal people.
It turned out very nice. I think it's good that you waited on this one until you knew what you were doing, this battle and song were pretty much the turning point for MML2's story (even if it was basically right at the end).
Yeah, this is a bit of a mood shift in the game. That's one of the reasons I knew I really wanted to lean into the metal thing for this one. The game is fairly chill up to this point, and then suddenly the actual plot starts and Geetz gets really intense. It helps that it's also a really different type of battle for MML2. Most of the time you can run around the bosses to get away, but for this one the boss can just fly away from you out of range and there's nothing you can do about it.
Thanks! I'm more of an arranger than a composer most of the time, so when I have tried out some composition I'll usually take a simple pattern or chord progression and slowly develop it over the course of the song. That's just what is easier for me to do most of the time.
The starting pad is from Heavyocity's hybrid synth / string plugin NOVO, while the string samples that come in when the melody starts are from EastWest's Hollywood Orchestra.
@@Scipionyx8492 thanks for the info. You got good taste man! The hybrid synth/string reminds me of the intro from re3's remake credits song. I like that particular kind of ambient, warm, rich synth strings sound
@@keyboardwarria I was specifically trying to make an atmosphere heavy with smoke for this one, slowly giving way to the orchestra as the song progressed. I figured it made sense to start with a hybrid string pad before layering in the actual string samples to get that contrast.
This legitimately needs more views, It's so damn GOOD man, I was actually so invested in the music that I honestly forgot I wasn't listening to an official piece!
@@Scipionyx8492 No problems, it's kinda hard NOT to compliment a remaster of what's already my favorite song in the game, it's essentially that song, but even better.
