He can't be serious?? What an embarrassingly inaccurate take. Stardom, for men and women onscreen, is about being the magical person who enchants the audience, and the only yearning or "needing" that results is the audience being enamored of the star. Imagine interviewing the magnificent legendary Vivien Leigh, and insisting her life's career was all about her communicating to men in the audience that she "needed" them in a personal way. Her laugh in response to his impudence is perfect. 🤭
Well actors in general usually have to be very good at being a bit of a chameleon in a sense because they are only as good at convincing you in ALL these different movies that they really ARE their character. Like how a chameleon changes colors! Lol. This is WHY DATING them can be hard too lol. For instance, who DIDNT know that she actually had a British accent and had to practice really hard to work on a southern drawl? When I first saw the movie as a child I would never have guessed that. Even knowing it now I'm blown away. Lol
Jeez. He just belittled every actresses talent with one moronic question. She could handle it, she lived and worked in that era. She made it clear she didn't "need" this man or his approval.
As a critic, He always had it out for her as an actress She was so much more than he ever gave her credit for in her lifetime. . I agree with her charming response .
Since Mr. Tynan was a critic, I'll be a critic: Sir, you are a jerk. Also if you weren't a jerk you would know that Miss Leigh/Lady Olivier was someone who had earned the right to be treated with and spoken to with respect in a discussion on acting, let alone for simply being a human being.
