When my ex left me in 2013, I figured we must have been aimed in two different directions and getting further apart so when he started seeing others behind my back, we were far enough apart to make the split. Now I'm 60, I'm better off alone, I am not dependent on anybody else and my options are wide open, I'll never have that intimacy anymore but I have my freedom.
Fun camping trip, the Xterra is a sweet camper. I looked at getting one of those. Good points about camping, it is so much easier in the West. In my 4Runner just put mattress on the floor to keep that head room. It is really amazing, you can make it work someway with whatever vehicle you have.

Pretty dumb walking a mountain barefoot without working up to it and only likely to put people off and risk injury. I had been going routinely barefoot for several years before I tackled my first mountain, but now I wouldn’t do anything else.
I really recommend to start with shorter walks but do them every day. Check the state of your feet and what you actually feel with them. Note the development of your skin, muscle and circulation. If you suffer any wounds, give yourself a break and let them heal. It seems to be a common mistake of beginners to do too much at once. Start with ten or twenty minutes every day in an area that you really like. Proceed to more difficult trails later on, little by little. Yes it takes a lot of patience but your feet will be in a much better state and actually capable of handling trails like the one you did without pain. It looks like you did the equivalent of a marathon without any training ... which is not the best idea.
I agree. I kinda knew this going into the hike from research I've done, but I wanted to challenge myself for the video. I definitely will ease into it next time

Do the Profile Trail. It's awesme. I did it in November one year. There was snow and ice for the added difficulty. When we got to the parking lot at the swinging bridge, the trail was closed if you hiked from that direction. Got a hitch back down the mountain to the truck.

I would highly recommend not starting immediately with long hikes. Eas into it. Start with small walks on kinda sharp grounds and try to walk longer and longer on them. After some time it's basically like walking with shoes. Of course stepping on thorns still hurts but ey. This is coming from someone who climbs outdoors barefoot and hikes long, with sharp rocked trails.
Great video! Different than many others, and very entertaining. I might even want to take off my Teva's next time and try it for myself. But... I'm not climbing Grandfather Mountain barefoot just yet.
