I loved your reaction, and watching your thoughts on the 60th was really interesting. I'm glad to know that it was able to interest people even with so many running plot threads from things they hadn't watched.

I am so excited to watch you get to know the show. I also just deleted a whole paragraph where I gushed about it and then decided it was too much. I’m just really excited to watch your journey through the series. The budget was low and that is often noticeable. But the characters are mostly fantastic.

While it's not shown here in your RU-vid edit, one of the most important lines for understanding who the Doctor is as a person is when he's being held by the Autons, and he yells "I was there. I fought in the war! It wasn't my fault. I couldn't save your world! I couldn't save any of them!" His voice is anguished when he says the last bit, because saving people whenever and wherever he can is what the Doctor does. And during this mysterious war he mentioned, he was unable to do so, and that failure haunts him. Thumbs up for the reaction, and you have a new subscriber. Glad to see you hopping aboard the TARDIS with the rest of us. :)

I'm here for Doctor Who, all the way through! ❤ I saw this on transmission, this episode still stands up, except for the plastic Mickey, that looks stupid and childish... but it did in 2005 to be honest.

Coincidentally, my partner and I watched Rose tonight (we saw it when it first came out and have seen it several times since). Yes, despite being 19 years ago it really stands up well. Although we did wonder why Rose took the arm back to her flat or why she didn't notice Mickey was a plastic duplicate. 😂 Nonetheless, it's a rip roaring adventure. We agree, Rose's mum is brilliant. Keep watching. 😊

Doctor Who is my favorite show. It doesn't mean I love every single episode. But you're doing it right by watching from episode 1 of New Who (the 2005 relaunch of the series which ended in 1989 and had a tv movie in the 90s). I will avoid spoilers. Welcome to a wonderful rabbit hole.

This is going to be the Trip of a Lifetime for you (I still remember those TV spots that teased the show’s return with that phrase) This show was my everything when I was between 6 and 11 (the time that passed between 2005 and 2010) I was right there from the beginning, and pretty much grew up with the show watching it evolve and blossom. It was one of the best things a growing kid could watch, because it’s fun sci fi adventures, but I learned so many life lessons believe you me, taught me so much. Which is why it bothers me a bit when people dismiss DW as a stupid dumb show with plunger bots, there’s so much more to it than that. Enjoy the show!

It’s always exciting to see the start of a new Doctor Who reactor. In my opinion, I never really cared for Christopher Eccleston’s Doctor. I don’t think the first season is as good as the others. David Tennent is good, but Matt Smith is my favorite. These are just my opinions- I’m aware others feel differently. Anyway, I’m glad you’re into it and are sticking with it. I can’t wait to see more.

Welcome to the whovian community officially 😊 your in for a treat this show is full of everything it's cheesy, campy, drama, emotional, dark, horror, laughter, death, tragedy a whodunnit you name it but also it's one of the longest running science fiction programmes in the world second to "Star Trek". I hope you enjoy your adventures with The Ninth Doctor (Christopher Eccleston) and his new companion Rose. The mannequins are called the Autons who made their debut since 1970 with the first episode of the Third Doctor (Jon Pertwee) why they have a finger gun we fans have been asking that same question for the last 54 years.

That duel regeneration was a first. The doctor said it was legend. Looks like a lot of legends are somehow coming true. The doctor was worried about using a superstition at the end of the universe. The duel regen was weird because there is only one doctor…that is, one entity called the doctor. Even though two or more versions could be together when he crosses his own timeline, this was kinda different. I know the showrunner has ideas about it but in the end I’ll go with what is onscreen. I’m glad you are enjoying the show and it’s kinda cool you started with the 60th anniversary special (which had lots of nods to the past) and you enjoyed those episodes even not knowing the past they referenced. It speaks to just how fun each episode can be. Looking forward to your viewing the Ninth doctor and Rose (the first Rose)

11:50 Some fans speculate that when the Doctor leaves here, he goes on the adventures that Clive had the pictures of, just so Rose would believe him when he returned.

It is difficult to find, as it’s been removed by BBC, but if you can find it, I recommend watching the pilot episode of doctor who from 1963, called “an unearthly child”. It’s only about 20 minutes and gives you background on the doctor and the TARDIS (and what T.A.R.D.I.S stands for). you are definitely better off watching the 2005 restart but it’s still the same universe, character, and history as that 1963 show.

The doctor is always a different version of the same person. Some external characteristics are different but you can see he’s also the same. I found the church on ruby road had a similar “feel” to this episode and I could so clearly see Ncuti is still the same Doctor. Subscribed! Now off to watch your church on ruby road reaction🙂

The longer the amount of time elapses between "The whole universe" exit and the "Travels in time" return appearance makes that even funnier. How many years onward did he remember he did NOT tell her that was a time machine😂

Glad you enjoyed this 1st story. I think Christopher Eccleston was an inspired choice to play the Doctor in this 2005 continuation. As this season progresses, you will find out more about the Doctor’s back history, what happened to him before he first met Rose, etc. and Eccleston plays the Doctor’s hurt and anguish perfectly, much better than I think David Tennant and other NuWho Doctors would have! As a fan of classic Who (I began watching it in 1970 with the 3rd Doctor at the age of 6) I do miss the episodic nature of the old show, where a single story could be (and usually was), fleshed out over 4 or 6 25 minute episodes (with cliffhangers at the end of each episode to get you to come back and watch next week), but by the time the show was revived in 2005, UK drama shows (and Doctor Who is made by the BBC’s drama department and not through their children’s department) had long been making episodes which clocked in at around the 45-50 minute mark, and I guess it was decided that Doctor Who would abandon its original 25 minute running time to follow suit. By and large, a 45-50 minute episode is usually the right length to tell a NuWho story, although sometimes there’s the odd one that could have done with an extra episode to flesh out the characters and plot, but I guess since the advent of MTV back in the 1980’s, the youth of today want something over and done with quickly, in one week, so they can move onto another story the following week.
